Since Donald Trump’s rise to the top of the GOP, Fox News’ Sean Hannity has proven time and time again that there’s really no level to which he will not stoop to defend this “president.” While I’ve never held Hannity in any sort of high regards, I’ve still been rather surprised at just how much he’s worked to plant his lips squarely on Trump’s backside.
The guy has absolutely no shame.
Listening to his rantings and ravings about Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Benghazi, Russia, Robert Mueller, the FBI, the “deep state,” and whatever other nonsense he feels like spewing during his radio and television shows, I always ponder how many of the things he defends about Trump would be absolutely unacceptable if they involved a Democrat doing the same things.
I remember when Hannity pushed the idea that Clinton being under FBI investigation disqualified her from running for president — yet he now defends a “president” under FBI investigation.
Just a few years ago he viewed Wikileaks and its founder, Julian Assange, as enemies of the United States whose actions were going to get Americans killed. Now Hannity defends Assange because Wikileaks helped defeat Clinton during the 2016 election.
If Obama or Clinton had agreed to a meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, I have no doubt Hannity would have spun it as a “weak move to cater to a brutal dictatorship.” Yet because Trump’s the one who’s said he’s open to the meeting, well, that makes it a “bold, brave move by a strong leader.”
Prior to the 2016 election, Hannity spent a good portion of his time running down the economy. The very same economy he now uses to prop up Trump.
Even look at the recent scandal surrounding his desire to hide the fact that he’s a client of Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen. Had Jake Tapper, Rachel Maddow, Chuck Todd, or practically anyone else been caught trying to hide the fact that they were clients for a lawyer linked to Obama or Clinton — while reporting on stories in a positive way concerning that lawyer as it relates to an FBI raid — he would be calling for them to be fired, slandering their employer as “liberally biased” and “corrupt.”
Just look at how he referred to ABC News being caught in a “major scandal” and a “huge conflict of interest” after it was revealed George Stephanopoulos had donated to the Clinton Foundation.
However, when he’s caught in a disclosure scandal, then it’s just the “mainstream media out to get him.”
It’s easy to see why Hannity and Trump get along so well. Both men are completely full of crap. Their view on reality, or outrage for that matter, is entirely based on whatever “side” it’s tied to.
I get that there’s often a level of hypocrisy when it comes to politics — but nothing comes close to what I see from the likes of Hannity and his fellow Republicans. They’ll literally defend Trump for the very same things they’ve attacked others for doing.
To this day I still think about what someone like Hannity would be saying had Obama, Clinton, or any Democrat said of Sen. John McCain that they didn’t consider him a war hero because they “like people who weren’t captured.”
I know that comment was said nearly three years ago, but it still sticks with me. I can’t believe someone who said that actually became “president.”
How anyone can take Hannity seriously is unbelievable. It takes willful ignorance to not see through his b.s., lies, propaganda, and the fact that his “outrage” over any particular issue is based entirely on which side is being accused of something.
When the FBI investigated Clinton, that was a huge deal that disqualified her from being president and was completely legitimate.
When the FBI investigates Trump, it’s all a “witch hunt” and part of a “deep state agenda by a corrupt crime family to bring down this president.”
A great example of how full of crap Hannity is can be seen here when, back in December, he called CNN and NBC News “fake” — while linking an article to NBC News to prove his point.
Or that time he tried to attack The New York Times as “fake” over reports that Trump was considering firing Robert Mueller, only to quickly backtrack after he was informed his network’s own sources had corroborated the same thing.
He quickly changed the subject.
Sean Hannity is nothing but a con man and a fraud. Someone who’s willing to say practically anything to defend Donald Trump, the GOP, and whatever he feels serves his own interests as a bottom-feeder making millions off of people who are either idiots or completely devoid of reality.
