While most Democrats and liberals think George W. Bush was one of the worst presidents in our history (and rightfully so on many levels) I always stuck to the belief that he was essentially a puppet for the real man pulling the strings, Dick Cheney.
In my opinion, Cheney is one of the most despicable human beings we’ve ever seen in politics. When I hear him speak, I just get the sense from him that he’s pure evil. There’s no humanity in his tone or his words. When news broke that he had received a heart transplant, I joked that I was shocked he had one to begin with.
And while a lot of what I just said is subjective, there’s one thing that isn’t – Dick Cheney is a war criminal. He’s admitted to, and endorsed, the use of torture.
He was also one of the main figures pushing for the war in Iraq. Which, as we all know, was based on lies and an intelligence failure of epic proportions. That war, based on lies, resulted in over 4,400 Americans being sent to their deaths.
Yet Dick Cheney has never once faced any legal prosecution for his crimes. He’s never once been held responsible for the lies he’s told and the war crimes he’s committed.
So it just reeks of hypocrisy for him to come out and say that Hillary Clinton needs to be “held responsible” for Benghazi.
During an interview with Chris Wallace on Fox News, Cheney said, “She was secretary of state at the time that it happened. She was one of the first in Washington to know about it. I think she clearly bears responsibility for whatever the State Department did or didn’t do with respect to that crisis.”
“I do think it’s a major issue,” he added. “I don’t think we’ve heard the last of it yet, and I expect that she will be held accountable during the course of the campaign.”
The thing is, we have gotten to the bottom of it. Tens of thousands of pages from numerous investigations have ruled Benghazi an institutional failure on every level including the embassy itself. This new “investigation” is nothing more than a sideshow Republicans are staging to try to keep Benghazi relevant heading into the 2014 midterms. And the only thing it’s “investigating” are what talking points were used immediately following the attack.
It’s just disgusting. While I understand that lives were lost and Benghazi was a tragedy, Republicans have done their best to turn it into an absolute joke.
But for (of all people) Dick Cheney to say that someone else needs to be “held responsible” for something that happened on their watch, that’s simply pathetic.
The 9/11 terrorist attack, the botched Iraq War, the horror stories from Abu Ghraib, the thirteen embassy attacks that happened during his eight years as vice president, the failure to capture or kill Osama bin Ladin, the worst economic crash in nearly a century – all happened while Cheney was the second most powerful man in the world.
And practically nobody has been held accountable for any of it, especially this massive hypocrite Dick Cheney.
So while he’s saying Hillary Clinton needs to be “held accountable,” millions of Americans are saying he should be in prison.
