Sarah Palin has basically been in hiding since right around the time of her Iowa Freedom Summit speech debacle. I’ve known for almost a decade that she’s not quite “all there” in the head, but over the last year her behavior has been especially bizarre even for her.
Though, to be honest, I wasn’t expecting newly minted Democratic presidential nominee Martin O’Malley to be the person that lured the reality television star out of hiding. Apparently she’s not too fond of O’Malley and felt the need to go on some long, babbling rant about Democrats, liberals and gun confiscation that did nothing but make herself look like a completely idiot.
Then again, making herself look like a complete idiot is what Palin seems to do best.
Here are a few things she said on Facebook:
Yet another anti-freedom politician jumps in the race today for POTUS. As cool as he is with his rock ‘n roll persona, this typical liberal’s erroneous grasp of our Bill of Rights merely continues the strange and disastrous agenda of Barack Obama. Good to know he doesn’t have much chance of winning.
By now, most of those ol’ Reagan democrats have come to realize that it was the party of Lincoln and Reagan all these years fighting for and winning the abolishment of slavery, civil rights for all Americans, equal rights for women, free markets, individual liberty, constitutional protections, private sector job growth, and a sensible foreign policy rooted in peace through strength.
She also went on to post a link to an article from 2013 that said President Obama was planning a gun confiscation. Not only that, but the article she used eventually links its “sourced information” back to InfoWars, the radical conspiracy website run by Alex Jones. In other words, she used a 2-year-old article that basically pulled its information from a website that’s said the Boston Marathon bombing was a false flag, that chemtrails are real and that President Obama is sterilizing Americans through the water supply.
That is the source of Palin’s “information.”
But her comments about O’Malley’s chances in 2016 were especially hilarious considering:
- At least he has the courage to try to run for president, something she’s never done.
- If she ever did run… she would stand absolutely no chance at winning, which is why she’s never tried in the first place.
Then there was her nonsense about “Reagan democrats” that only showed off how little she knows about history, or facts for that matter. Many of those “Reagan Democrats” she’s referring to – another way to say Southern Democrats – were the leftovers from the archaic days when Democrats were the racists and bigots. She lists all these things like ending slavery, passing civil rights and pushing for equal rights for women – while completely ignoring that states like Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and South Carolina, states that today are all “strongly Republican,” all opposed those things.
This is the go-to idiocy often used by Republicans. They love to ignore the reality that the ideologies of the two major political parties switched in the 50’s and 60’s. In their minds they seem to think that the people who voted for all of those Southern Democrats who supported bigotry and racism apparently all just became enlightened after the 60’s. Yeah, because that makes perfect sense, right?
Honestly, what seems more logical:
- The ideologies of our two major political parties switched during the 50’s and 60’s. – or –
- Generations of Americans who proudly supported racism, bigotry, intolerance and hate for over a century all changed their minds and became beacons of acceptance and tolerance just after the 60’s.
Meanwhile, today’s KKK sides with the Republican party; Republicans elected a former Grand Wizard of the KKK in Louisiana in 1989; and it’s Republicans who support the “proud” flying of the Confederate flag – otherwise known as the symbol of racism and oppression.
Nothing like trying to cite Abraham Lincoln as a representation of your values, while members of your party support the flag of the pro-slavery movement that hated Lincoln and then started a war with the United States.
But, in true Palin form, all she ended up doing with her asinine rant was remind Americans what an absolute fool she really is.
