Of all the many things on this Earth that mystify me, the fact that there are people who view Alex Jones as a credible source of information is definitely one of them. While I understand that there have always been a lot of mentally unstable people out there prone to believing all sorts of legitimately insane conspiracy theories, Jones isn’t just some schmuck on public access going on 30 minute rants once a week for a handful of viewers. He’s a millionaire with a rather sizable following that, as terrifying as it sounds, is actually growing.
My opinion is that Jones is nothing more than an unbalanced con artist. He preys on the mentally ill by pushing one conspiracy after another because it’s made him a very rich man.
Alex Jones really hasn’t met a conspiracy theory he doesn’t like. Whether it’s claiming that 9/11 was an inside job, the government is using our drinking water to turn us all gay, or that Sandy Hook was a hoax, I’m sorry, but you have to be a crazy person to believe anything he says.
After all, this is someone who, just last year, said that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are literally demons who smell like sulfur.
Not figurative demons he thinks are evil – but actual demons.
Well, in keeping with his tradition of peddling insane nonsense to people who probably are in dire need of professional psychiatric help, Jones unleashed an absolutely insane rant against CNN’s Brian Stelter where he accused him of being “demon spawn” who’s “drunk on our children’s blood.”
No, I’m not kidding.
Here’s what he had to say:
But just look at Stelter again. Put him on screen. I think that’s all the broadcast should be, is just a photo of Stelter smiling. Ugh. Ugh. Oh my gosh. Oh, hell on earth. He wants to run your life. He wants to control every aspect of your life because he knows he is a cowardly degenerate sack of anti-human trash. I pledge before my heavenly father that I will resist them every way I can. These people are the literal demon spawn of the pit of hell. Look at him. And you know what, he is better than you if you keep letting him run your life. He runs your kids, he runs the schools, he runs the banks. This guy, this spirit, this smiling, leering devil that thinks you can’t see what he is. He is your enemy. Period.
All the narcissistic devil-worshiping filth. I see you enemy. I see you enemy. Enemy. Enemy. You are my enemy. And I swear total resistance to you with everything I’ve got. Disingenuous, fake, false, brokeback, twisted, a defiler, a betrayer, a back stabber, a devil. You will pay. Yeah, you don’t think I see your face, scum? You don’t think I don’t see you, Stelter? I see you, you understand me? I know what you think of me and my family. I see you right back. You understand that? You understand that, Stelter? Stelter. You will fall. You will not bring humanity down. God is going to destroy you. Get him off the screen. Oh, God, they’re so evil. Just please God, free us from them. They’re drunk on our children’s blood for God’s sake. OK, I’m going to stop right now.
Let me repeat, this is someone who quite a lot of people view as a credible source of information. If that scares you some, it should — because it’s a terrifying reality.
Normally I wouldn’t take rants like these seriously, but Jones has been pushed into the mainstream by Donald Trump who’s praised his “amazing” reputation and whose sons have actually tweeted out Jones’ website as a valid source of information.
This is what the Republican Party has become. A political entity backed and supported by a good number of people who look at someone like Alex Jones, a person who claimed that Sandy Hook was a hoax, and think to themselves after hearing a rant like that, “Yeah! He’s right!”
It’s sad that we’re now forced to give nut jobs like Jones some level of attention because there are likely several million people in this country who think this raving lunatic runs a credible news outlet.
As I’ve said numerous times before, history is going to look back upon this time with shame, disgust, and embarrassment at those who stood by, trusted, and defended frauds like Donald Trump and Alex Jones.
