Bachmann Implies She Knows What’s Best for Israel, Says Jewish Americans Have ‘Sold Out’

bachmann-11Religious fanatics crack me up.  They’re so convinced that they know “what’s best” that even when their beliefs are contradicted by people who know far more than they do about a specific religion – they still don’t believe that they’re wrong.

You’ve seen this with several prominent conservative figures questioning Pope Francis’ faith, with Sarah Palin saying that he sounded “too liberal” and Rush Limbaugh calling him a marxist.

Heck, you even had a prominent Fox News editor calling him the “Catholic Church’s Obama.”

Nothing quite like “Christians” attacking the beliefs of the most powerful Christian leader in the world simply because they contradict their propaganda.

Well, now you have Michele Bachmann attacking Jewish Americans.  Because, you know, she apparently knows more about what it is to be (and represent) the Jewish religion than actual Jews.

While doing an interview with Family Research Council president Tony Perkins, Bachmann said, “The Jewish community gave him their votes, their support, their financial support and as recently as last week, 48 Jewish donors who are big contributors to the president wrote a letter to the Democrat senators in the U.S. Senate to tell them to not advance sanctions against Iran.”

She also attacked Jewish organizations like the American Israel Public Affairs Committee for backing off a push for a swift vote on new Iran sanctions, saying, “This is clearly against Israel’s best interest.  What has been shocking has been seeing and observing Jewish organizations who it appears have made it their priority to support the political priority and the political ambitions of the President over the best interests of Israel.  So in some respects, they sold out Israel.”

Yes, that’s someone who isn’t Jewish telling the leading Jewish organization, and Jewish Americans, that she knows more about the best interest of Israel than they do.

Talk about arrogance.

I really feel like God or Jesus Christ could come down from the heavens, tell Republicans that they’re completely wrong, and conservatives would just scoff and say, “You have no idea what it is you’re talking about!  You’re just liberally biased!”

Because that’s really the point we’ve come to.  Republicans telling the Pope that he’s wrong about Christianity and non-Jewish Republicans telling Jewish Americans that they’re selling out Israel.

Statements that would almost be funny if they weren’t true.
