It’s no secret that Republicans are no strangers to hypocrisy. They define the phrase, “Do as I say, not as I do.” The people who claim to have built the party of “Christian values” embrace guns, anti-immigrant rhetoric, bigotry and war, and support a vile, petty, greedy adulterer on his third marriage who’s bragged about sexually assaulting women while having almost no record of regularly attending church.
These are many of the same people who think Barack Obama, the loving father and husband still married to his first wife who sang Amazing Grace at the funeral for Rev. Clementa Pinckney (one of the nine victims of the horrific 2015 mass shooting at the church in South Carolina), is the anti-Christ.
To call today’s Republicans hypocrites doesn’t really do them justice. What we’ve seen from these folks is closer to outright insanity than ordinary, every day hypocrisy. The complete lack of self-awareness is uncanny.
For example, Wednesday when disgraced former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly attempted to take a jab at CNN’s Jake Tapper on Twitter:
Sean Hannity kicking serious butt in the ratings. Tapper on CNN as low as you can go.
— Bill O'Reilly (@billoreilly) October 18, 2017
Nothing like a man who was fired for sexually harassing at least five women trying to talk trash about someone else in the media.
Well, Jake Tapper isn’t one to shy away from calling people out when warranted, and his response to the former Fox News host was absolutely perfect:
"Low" would be sexually harassing staffers and then getting fired for it — humiliated in front of the world. Now THAT would be low. https://t.co/e2d6kOHL7F
— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) October 18, 2017
This is what I mean about the hypocrisy and lack of self-awareness from the right-wing.
Under normal circumstances, a parasite like O’Reilly would have been shunned by members of the media, left to live out the rest of his days as an exile for apparently being a disgusting sexual predator.
But not when you’re loved by Republicans and the conservative media.
When you’re a scumbag on the right, you’re invited on Fox News to do interviews, still have a massive following, and you feel no shame because you know you’re supported by hypocritical lowlifes like yourself who lack any true sense of morals or ethics.
A sexist, racist bottom-feeder like O’Reilly is a big part of why the modern day Republican Party has become such a cesspool. He built his fame and fortune pushing lies, hate, fear, paranoia, and misinformation to millions of people he knew were too ignorant to realize he was completely full of crap. Like so many members of the conservative media, he’s nothing but a con artist and a fraud. Someone who says something one minute, then completely contradicts himself the next without a care in the world. Whatever he has to say to sell whatever agenda he’s trying to push.
So I’d like to applaud Jake Tapper for his brilliant, and rather hilarious, response to Bill O’Reilly’s pathetic attempt at trolling him on social media. He pulled no punches and called out the scumbag for exactly who he is.
