It’s no secret that most Republicans deny the overwhelmingly accepted scientific theory of human-made climate change. It really shouldn’t be all that surprising since a good chunk of the people who support the GOP don’t know the difference between “weather” and “climate,” while many of them actually believe God controls both.
Unfortunately, it’s difficult to reason with people who don’t understand that daily weather is completely different than climate, or believe that it doesn’t matter what we do because God’s in charge of it all anyway.
Well, fighting climate change took a huge hit in this election when this country elected a bonafide climate change denier in Donald Trump — a man who many believe is going to put a former oil lobbyist and fellow climate change denier in charge of the EPA.
Because that’s going to work out well for all of humanity.
But Trump took things up a notch a while back when not only did he deny the existence of human-made climate change, but he claimed it’s a hoax invented by the Chinese to hurt the United States:
The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, that’s our next president.
However, things got fairly interesting after China pointed out that it was impossible for them to have “invented it,” considering climate change negotiations actually began during Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush’s administrations.
“If you look at the history of climate change negotiations, actually it was initiated by the IPCC with the support of the Republicans during the Reagan and senior Bush administration during the late 1980s,” China’s Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin told reporters.
If you recall, Hillary Clinton brought up Trump’s tweet on climate change during one of the debates, a claim he flat-out denied ever saying — even though a simple Google search will take you to the tweet posted above which is indisputable proof that he did, in fact, say exactly that.
China didn’t simply address the fact that it’s completely ridiculous to believe that they invented climate change to hurt U.S. manufacturing. That would have been a simple response to a completely asinine claim our next president had made in the past.
Instead, they addressed it by pointing out that it was actually Republican presidents Reagan and Bush (with support from the Republican party) who were the first to support climate negotiations that had been initiated by the IPCC. Their statement was not remotely subtle in basically saying your next president is an idiot, while pointing out how radical the modern day GOP has become.
In fact, the Republican party is the only major political party in the industrialized world that rejects the reality of human-made climate change. That’s astonishing considering they were actually more “progressive” about this global emergency 30 years ago than they are now.
Then again, when it comes to a whole lot of key issues, the GOP seems determined to prove that they can most certainly go backwards. After all, this is the party that went from Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt to George W. Bush and Donald Trump.
It’s no wonder so many conservatives don’t believe in the theory of evolution considering what an absolute joke their party has become.
