Conservatives Flipping Out Over Obama’s ‘Between Two Ferns’ Skit are Out of Their Damn Minds

obama-galifianakisIt’s pretty much a guarantee that if President Obama does anything, Republicans are going to whine and complain.  He can’t even take a vacation without conservatives throwing a fit about the fact that he’s not in Washington.  An attack that’s especially hypocritical considering Republican George W. Bush took 879 vacation days in his eight years (with some sources reporting the total as closer to 1,000 days).

By contrast President Obama has taken somewhere between 110-120 vacation days (depends on the source) since he took office in January 2009.  In other words, Obama could spend somewhere around 75 percent of the rest of his presidency on vacation and he would still barely equal George W. Bush’s 879 vacation days.

Well, today a skit by Funny or Die known as Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis has gone viral because his “guest” just happened to be President Obama.  The gist of the whole bit is that Galifianakis invites famous people on this “show” where he more or less asks them questions which are insults.  It’s clearly scripted, but usually hilarious.

So in a bit of marketing genius it seems President Obama decided that a great way to reach out to younger people (who obviously watch this skit more than older folks) was to stage what basically turned into a plug for the Affordable Care Act on Between Two Ferns.  Which apparently worked.

Well, some conservatives have lost their minds over it.  They seem rather infuriated that the president would waste his time filming this skit instead of, you know, doing other things.  With so much going on in the world, how dare President Obama think of anything else!

Funny, I didn’t see many conservatives outraged when several leading members of Congress spent three days at CPAC last week.  You know, that convention which is really nothing more than an event where conservatives get together and spout off nonsense for which only the most ignorant among us would cheer.

Where was their outrage?

President Obama filmed this skit in the White House and it probably took less than an hour to do so.  It wasn’t like he went to Los Angeles (or wherever they film the show normally).  No, they came to him – at the White House.

So here’s the thing – if conservatives aren’t up in arms because many leading conservative politicians spent time at CPAC (a three day event) then they need to shut their mouths when it comes to President Obama filming a skit to promote the Affordable Care Act that probably took less than an hour total.

If you haven’t had a chance to see the skit, check it out here.

Who’s flipping out? There’s no link or proof to validate the title at all. Act like a real news site and post a source, instead of just just writing nine paragraph opinion piece to yell how stupid republicans are.

    • carolgardner

On every site that shows the broadcast, there are numerous comments chastising the President.

    • modera8

It’s pretty clear that Republicans are flipping out. Do you ever watch the news? Also, we needn’t a nine-paragraph opinion piece pointing out that they’re stupid. That’s obvious.

    • Alex

      You sure seem to be…

Guest, Wow, you apparently are one of the most clueless people. FauxNews has done nothing but whine about it all day.

but,,,,,,,,,,,they whine in a ‘fair and balanced’ way ( self titled )

    • PRIME79

Its been attacked repeatedly, as usual for Obama, on Fox “news”. And if FN is talking about it, we all know that the right is bitching about it.

Fox & Friends: President Obama’s Interview Was “Inappropriate” And “Tragic.” Fox & Friends hosts Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Brian Kilmeade attacked president Obama’s interview as “so inappropriate” and “pretty tragic.” Hasselbeck said, “Some would argue that it’s inappropriate for the president of the United States to be advertising a law, an insurance plan”:

KILMEADE: It is so inappropriate… for the president of the United States to be sitting down for an interview that’s a mock-up

HASSELBECK: Some would argue that it’s inappropriate for the president of the United States to be advertising a law, an insurance plan.

KILMEADE: I think it’s pretty tragic. Whoever recommended that he do that show should be fired. [Fox News, Fox and Friends, 3/11/2014]

I smell a republican…whatever you do don’t make eye contact or you too will become an idiot.

  • Brandon

I haven’t seen conservatives flipping out about it. I learned of the video today because a conservative friend shared it because it was hilarious. Then there have been pictures shared by other conservative groups…because it was hilarious. It’s funny because it’s true.

Brandon…^See above^ at “not a fox fan”. Maybe you will learn something new today. Don’t you get tired of being proved wrong?

bottom line? regressive crybaby white trash tea party scum hate Obama as he is ( a) well liked (b) highly intelligent AND educated (c) ridiculously well spoken orator (d) virtually eviscerating the stonewalling republicans and making them shine a bright GREY color.
plus– he paid for all the modifications to oval office OUT OF HIS OWN POCKET; not quite publicized on the FOX “news network

    • TheSotSays

The one I liked best was the “ridiculously well spoken orator” making a political speech to a Grade 3 class from behind a battery of teleprompters.

Let me tell you Chef, you can never fully appreciate affirmative action until you’ve witnessed a stunt like that.

      • moe/larry & curly keys

hey crybaby— your fellas in the rightwing scum white trash party has used them as much- probably more as idiots such as Good ol’ GW bush looked as a 3rd grader even with training and teleprompters. Reagan used them – when alzheimers wasn’t too evident later on– and even he cannot hold eloquence with the KNEEEEGROW we have in the “white” house. OOOPS: gotta share this– bush: 879 ( minimum) vacation days,,,,obama 120 (max) so far.
shall we proceed to the crybaby stress builder of “executive orders” and include radical Reagans amount and both bushs?
also– hows gov Christie gate doing? funny how the FOX “news” zealots are (now) trumpeting rand paul as chris chris chris chris is soon to be ‘dust in the wind’
I love easily seeing you for what U are: aging ( and broken physically: see- “GOLF” ) white trash crybaby who needs Viagra and tons of his favorite alcoholic libation.
write back and tell me the temp of where I live today- ok? or maybe how my lady ( or any of my priors ) would want to abscond with some derelict dinosaur such as you.

      • TheSotSays

        – Cost of Bush trips to the ranch $5,000 total.
        – Cost of Wacky Boo trips to Hawaii in search of birth certificate forgers – $7 million a pop.

Nevertheless Janet you’ve become quite excited here and the failure of your common core education is showing:
        a) failure to distinguish singular and plural
        b) failure to use proper punctuation for the possessive
        c) very poor grammar generally
        d) improper use of the word abscond.
        e) unusual use of the word “priors.”

So settle down Janet and if you get a chance send me over that order of fries and gravy.

We’ll be flying over to Lauderdale early tomorrow for the Scuba trip, so don’t forget to tell sweetie that we leave from Bahia Mar tomorrow about 10 for Key West and Dry Tortugas. She can call us on VHF Channel 16 from the dock office. If I hear a call for the Yacht Janet Reno, I’ll know who it is and after having a laugh we’ll pick it up.

      • moe/larry & curly keys

abscond– leave quickly and quietly. ( ooops,,,,, )

By my living here is sunny east southern florida I have seen–for decades– the dyed hair/male “merkin” ( colloquially used but essentially correct) aging low self esteem dinosaurs that attempt to offset any/all ( and I mean ALL) encroaching loss of usage ( by women mainly) — now ”bête noire”– by playing the ineluctable ( please use second syllable powerfully for proper effect) symphony of…………………” im flying out’ ” I have a new panoz roadster” ” my good friend(??) the astro-physicist/ mitochondrial surgeon” ad infinitum to TRY( and fail) to seem to “still have it”!!!
Circumnavigate low over pompano beach ( NOT FT.L as I live north) and wave with a gauche and weakening “swing” ( SEE: “GOLF”) while we in the proletariat continue to make waves here in the land of the physically living/sexually active/ whilst immure by the boundary of simple yet potent “viva le amore”
(OH– and try not to get your heart rate up: I enjoy abuuusing dolts such as you)

      • TheSotSays

You seem to spend most of your time abuuusing yourself.
Blog, thump thump thump. Blog, thump thump thump.

Oh, by the way, you should learn to read. I didn’t tell you that “priors” was used incorrectly. I believe your usage was unusual, and it is.

      • moe/larry & curly keys

thank U for a hidden compliment!! I knew I could carve that granite low brow to a spec of entered sunlight!!
I am unusual; that’s whats I have been told– especially by many many of the macromastial gracile females which have adorned my physique over the past 3 decades. Im please to add to my implied bovarism here that nearly all of those ” party hats” have used that euphemism in a way which indicated they want MORE. ( see: my priors)
my self abuse is limited to weight training and occasionally having to chase rapid kneeeeegrows on a basketball court. Lucky for me they also have to deal with me. ” you jump real goooood 4 a white guy”
        silly fellas!!

      • standbehindtheyellowline

I would bet you have never been out of Arkansas. The only thing you have flown over is biscuits and possum to your ailing neighbor. ( the one you call Auntie, for several reasons)

  • republic84

That’s because he wasn’t doing something useful like them. You know, quoting Dr Seuss, complaining about our country being overrun with “the brown people”, perhaps figuring out what to call their plan to eliminate gays since “final solution” was already taken by their messiah.. No not Reagan, the other one. The republican party should just be filmed and released as Comedy Central’s next special.

  • Green_Devil

We saw the GOP attempts at comedy at CPAC last week, with Ann Coulter indirectly threatening to have Marco Rubio hunted down by “death squads” if he votes for amnesty and it passes and Sarah Palin once again showing her blazing intellect by totally missing the entire point of Green Eggs and Ham, answering the question “Are you dumber than a 5 year old?”

  • richard

This is worth noting. The Right Wing pundits’ apoplectic and sputtering rage over this interview has less to do with President Obama, and more to do with the character Galifiankis plays with complete and utter faithfulness and it has touched a very raw nerve in the GOP. Zack’s churlish and resentful interviewer, so obviously challenged by President Obama’s palpable authority, his obvious resentment, his high voice and sullen expression, and his lame attempts to demean the President with comments about “Kenya” and “birth certificate” fail miserably. Coupled with Obama’s command and domination of the interview and his rock steady demeanor further reduce Zack to a squirming child. Think about it…the GOP sees themselves in Galifianakis and it mortifies them. They identify with Zack’s dimwitted character! The fact that it was an obvious success at reaching Millennials has to add insult to injury. No wonder the O’Reilly and others are rending their garments and gnashing their little incisors. Galifianakis’s moments on-camera are the crystallization of 6 years of illogical hatred from the GOP.

Are you retarded? Conservatives aren’t upset because Obama took off time from his presidential duties to film Between Two Ferns. They’re upset because Obama is degrading the prestige of the presidency by appearing on light-hearted platforms like this (and a number of others- SNL, The View, Ellen, Late Night, etc.)
