The fact that Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) still has any job in Congress is rather stunning, but it’s absolutely mind-boggling that he’s still chairman of the House Intelligence Committee after all the b.s. he’s pulled. Seemingly for at least the past year, Nunes has been doing everything he can to coordinate with Donald Trump to undermine the investigations into whether or not this “president” colluded with Russia or committed any other crimes.
Now it seems he’s pushing to erect a literal wall between Democrats and Republicans in the committee’s secure spaces.
As reported by CBS News:
In a sign of increasing partisan hostilities, Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee plan to construct a wall – a physical partition – separating Republican and Democratic staff members in the committee’s secure spaces, according to multiple committee sources. It’s expected to happen this spring.
For now, some Republican committee members deny knowing anything about it, while strongly suggesting the division is the
“I’m not part of that decision,” said Rep. Mike Conaway, R-Texas. “You’ve got to talk to Devin. I don’t know what they’re trying to do one way or the other.”
“I swear to God I didn’t know that,” said Rep. Tom Rooney, R-Florida, when asked about the plan. While acknowledging a wall might not be constructive for the committee’s work, he said, “The level of trust and the level of everything down there is – it’s poison. It’s absolute poison down there.”
It’s poison because the head of the damn committee is actively trying to undermine both the FBI and congressional investigations into whether or not the current “president” is a possible traitor! Nunes isn’t trying to find out the truth as to whether or not Trump’s a criminal, but he’s doing everything he can to undermine the credibility of the agencies and people who are.
That’s why things are “poison” in the House Intelligence Committee — because of Devin Nunes.
Now this bumbling idiot wants to erect a wall to keep Democrats and Republicans away from one another. Why, so he can write more factually-inaccurate idiotic memos that are soundly mocked and debunked by people who actually know how FISA warrants work?
This is a committee that’s meant to serve as a bipartisan grouping of lawmakers to oversee our 17 intelligence agencies. It’s not meant to be another “our side vs. your side” partisan battle, except that’s what Nunes has turned it into by solely serving the “best interests” of Donald Trump instead of this country.
As long as Rep. Devin Nunes sits as chairman of this committee, nothing is going to get done. That’s why I believe there needs to be an investigation into his behavior and why he seems to be doing everything he can to undermine the investigations into Donald Trump.
Because as I’ve said plenty of times before, what someone does is one thing — but it’s the why they do it that’s usually more important. What Nunes has done thus far definitely matters, but why he seems to be going to such great lengths to cover for Trump is what the American people need to know.
