Donald Trump is the same person who once found a “bright side” to tragedy by pointing out his poll numbers often improve following some sort of attack, so it really didn’t surprise me that he basically did the same thing last night after learning of an explosion in New York City.
Well before local authorities had even figured out what happened or if there were any casualties, Trump was in Colorado giving a speech where he not only used the attack as part of his pitch as to why people should vote for him, but he seemed more than eager to brag about a poll that showed him up four points in the state.
“Just before I got off the plane, a bomb went off in New York and nobody knows exactly what’s going on,” Trump said. “But we are living in a time when we’ve got to get very tough, folks. We’ve got to get very, very tough.”
“It’s a terrible thing that’s going on in our world and in our country and we are going to get tough and smart and vigilant,” he added. “We’re gonna end it. We’re gonna end it.”
Soon after he went on to say it was great to be there because “a new poll from Emerson just came out and we’re up four points in Colorado!”
Think about this for a moment. At this point, all Trump really knows is there was some sort of explosion in New York City — that’s it. He doesn’t know the cause, if people have died… nothing. The only thing he knew was that there was some sort of explosion and, at that moment, he instantly began playing up the terrorism angle. Even though when he made these comments no one had any idea what the motivation was.
Typically people in Trump’s position don’t comment on matters such as these until after we know more details about what happened and whether or not there were any casualties.
But not Trump — oh, no.
Like a giddy child unable to contain himself, he couldn’t wait to stand in front of a crowd of people to exploit an explosion that he knew almost nothing about, using this incident as part of his, “This is why you should vote for me” shtick. Meanwhile, he was so “concerned” that people could have possibly died as a result of this blast — that he still made sure to mention a poll that showed him leading in Colorado.
Nothing says “I’m sincere about these tragedies and human life” quite like attempting to exploit a possibly deadly explosion (thankfully nobody died — though Trump didn’t know that when he made these comments), followed by bragging about a poll in which you’re ahead. Then again, this is Trump we’re talking about — someone who defines what it means to be a bottom-feeding, opportunistic parasite.
This is just another example — in a long list of them — proving why Donald Trump is unfit and unqualified to be President of the United States.
