Despite what people might think of Duck Dynasty or Phil Robertson’s ignorant comments about homosexuals and African Americans, it’s hard to deny that Willie Robertson is one hell of a businessman. He took a duck call business and turned it into a massive multimillion dollar empire with its own wine, clothing, chocolate bars, sections in stores and even sponsorship of a NASCAR race.
That being said, it’s clear based on the comments by his father (and the fact that the family is extremely religious) that he’s not exactly a liberal. In fact, it’s probably safe to say he’s probably a big fan of the tea party.
Well it seems Willie Robertson would love to take President Obama duck hunting to figure out what’s going on in his brain.
During a recent radio interview Robertson said, “I’d like to talk and debate and find out what’s going on in his brain a little more.” He said he enjoys discussing things with people he disagrees with to “see if you can move to maybe change their thinking in some ways.”
Personally, I would love to see this happen. It would be the highest rated episode of Duck Dynasty in history and I think it would be priceless to see Willie Robertson (though undoubtedly a very smart businessman) try to “school” President Obama – someone who has a bachelors degree from Columbia and a law degree from Harvard.
Though I know know this would never happen, it’s still something that I think would be fantastic television.
While I know being a business owner comes with certain advantages, I do always find it funny when someone who runs a business thinks they know how to handle an economy better than anyone else. The fact of the matter is, running a country and running a business are nothing alike.
After all, Mitt Romney became a very rich man owning several businesses and we saw what an absolute train wreck he was as a potential United States president. He couldn’t even handle one overseas trip without insulting several nations he visited and was one of the most gaffe prone presidential candidates in modern history.
So while this hypothetical meeting between President Obama and Willie Robertson will most likely never happen, if it did, I would definitely tune in to watch. Which gets back to the real reason Willie probably wants it to happen – because the show’s viewership is currently in the toilet compared to previous seasons.
