East Texas Town, Deep in Republican Territory, Paying Ted Nugent $16k to Stay Away

ted-nugent-idiotWell, so much for the hate against Ted Nugent being “liberally biased.”  An east Texas town, Longview to be exact, is actually paying Ted Nugent $16,000 to not play at their annual Fourth of July festival.

And trust me when I tell you, being a Texas resident (and having family out near Longview), that area damn sure isn’t anything you could call “liberal.”  It’s about as right-wing conservative as you can get.  It’s in deep east Texas, a mile from Louisiana and only a couple of hours from Arkansas or Oklahoma.

Longview’s public information officer Shawn Hara said, “We decided that that wasn’t the direction we wanted to go for the festival.”

Ouch.

Perhaps it was Nugent using Nazi references when talking about President Obama, or the fact that he sang a song about his sexual desire for very young girls, but it’s pretty bad when a conservative icon like Ted Nugent is being told by a very conservative area of Texas to stay away.  Not only that, he’s being paid to stay away.

Naturally, the county Republican Party Chair Keith Rothra tried to make this into an issue of Longview giving into “political pressure.”  He said:

“I’m sad the City of Longview has done this. I think it was done by a great deal of political correctness, political pressure.  We have various performers who have made all kinds of statements that rattled people’s conscience and yet they are still slated as performers.”

Astounding.

Mr. Rothra is really trying to say that Longview, Texas – a very conservative area of Texas – felt political pressure to abide by some form of “political correctness” in canceling Nugent?  Seriously?

Trying to disassociate yourself with someone like Ted Nugent has nothing to do with “political correctness,” but rather the fact that Nugent is a deplorable human being and everyone (Republican or Democrat alike) should be ashamed to associate with him.

He’s a racist, draft-dodging sexual predator, and I applaud the town of Longview, Texas for taking a stand by telling Ted Nugent to stay the hell away.

What a racket: Paid for being obnoxious, LOL

But I wonder why would Longview pay to keep somebody away? Did they think he was going to crash their party and play for free?

Or was there a contract, and is this a buyout of the contract?

    • Gary Crowell Jr

it’s in the first link in the story

        Thanks!

I tried the link the first time, but got a Virus Warning, so backed out of the site, unread.

Yep, a contract with an out clause!

      • Sandy Greer

Well, then they owe him the money.

And evidently, Longview has ENOUGH Liberals (vs Conservatives) who don’t want to be associated with Obama Haters…that they think it’s worth $16K to get out of the contract. Good for them.

And good for him, protecting his interests with an out clause. 😉

I doubt it was the song from long ago, or they’d have never booked him in the first place.

Most performers will not sign a contract to play anywhere unless it has an “out” clause whereby they are paid a certain percentage of the full contract price… not only that, they require that they get their money before they perform… cash in hand, no checks unless it’s a cashier’s check.

Coulter is paid stacks of cashish to be obnoxious…. done it for years. Nothing new here. Funny, though, all the righties not even understanding they’re played for fools for going along with it. No money in being obnoxious racist misogynist bigots? There would be none in the media.

So, the message here is how to make money with republicans; being a scum spreading racist ideas in order to gather more ignorant people, then get payed for the work because they now can deal with the extra people. Everybody’s happy!

  • XaurreauX Pont DeLac

I could have saved them money. I would have charged them only $12,000 to stay away.

  • I knew deep in my heart that there were still descent Republicans out
there, and that not all Republicans were racist hate mongers link uncle ted.
Longview Texas has now given me hope. Thank You ! Maybe League City, Texas 77518 could learn a thing or two about class from Longview, Texas. …

69% of their voters voted for Romney, compared to 57% for the entire state. 69% in 08. 71% in 04. 70% in 2000. The last time a GOP candidate got less than 69% there was Bob Dole in 96, and Clinton still on got 36%(6% webt to independent. )
