Breaking: Florida Gov. Rick Scott Defeats Democrat Charlie Crist in Florida

scott_rickThis is news that should make every Democrat in Florida who didn’t vote absolutely ashamed of themselves: Florida Governor Rick Scott has defeated Democratic challenger (and former Governor of Florida) Charlie Crist.

This is another one of those races where I’m not sure how it was so close. Florida Governor Rick Scott is a man who should have never been elected in 2010. I’ve just never understood how someone who was CEO of a company that was convicted of defrauding Medicare out of hundreds of millions of dollars could get elected to such a high government office.

In my opinion Rick Scott epitomizes the stereotypical corrupt, scumbag politician. If it wasn’t the shocking number of times he pleaded the Fifth during his Medicare fraud trial, then it was the legislation he passed that was so poorly written that it essentially banned all computers in Florida.

No, that last one wasn’t satire. That actually happened.

Oh, and let’s not forget that a federal appeals court found that Scott’s 2012 attempt to rig the election was illegal. That’s on top of the fact that during the same 2012 elections Florida was a national laughing stock, as many Florida voters were forced to wait in outrageously long lines to vote due to new laws Scott had signed that made it much more difficult for citizens of Florida to vote.

And if his challenger hadn’t been former Florida Governor Charlie Crist (also a former Republican). I’m not even sure if the race would have been as close as it was.

But ultimately Florida Governor Rick Scott was re-elected, and possibly the biggest sleazebag in politics will preside over the state of Florida for another four years.
