Sometimes the word “stupidity” doesn’t quite properly describe just how outlandish and ignorant some people can be. So calling Joshua Black, a Republican candidate for Florida House District 68, “stupid” really doesn’t do this idiot justice.
This man took to Twitter to publicly call for the hanging of President Obama.
Yes, you read that correctly, a Florida Republican publicly called for the President of the United States to be hanged.
Black wrote on his Twitter:
“I’m past impeachment, it’s time to arrest and hang him high.”
A statement that was so awful, another Florida Republican, Chris Latvala, took notice and called out Mr. Black’s insanity:
“You aren’t seriously calling for the killing of Obama are you? I know you are crazy but good heavens. U R an embarrassment.”
The “Twitter war” between these two went back and forth for a little while, with Black claiming President Obama has committed treason for some of his drone strikes in Pakistan and his stance on Daniel Manning and Edward Snowden.
But nothing seemed to deter Black’s ridiculous stance because he later tweeted:
“He should be executed for treason. I think the appropriate punishment is death. They killed Benedict Arnold. (Obama) shouldn’t be allowed to kill Americans without a trial.”
Can you see some of the irony here? He’s already declaring President Obama guilty of treason, calling for his execution – even though Obama’s never stood trial (or been convicted of) treason. Yet his reasoning for his stance supporting Obama’s execution is killing Americans without trial.
Oh, and Benedict Arnold wasn’t killed for treason. He died in England due to several health conditions.
I’m assuming Black was referring to the killing of Anwar al-Awlaki, a terrorist who just happened to be born in the United States, who was killed by an ordered drone strike in Yemen.
Now I might get slammed for this, but al-Awlaki was a known terrorist. Anyone who really disputes that is nuts. If you look up his links to terrorism it’s pages long. I don’t care if you’re an American citizen or not, I’m not going to support risking the lives of our brave men and women in uniform to “capture alive” a terrorist just because they were born in the United States and “deserved a fair trial as an American citizen.”
Now some might point to the subsequent killing of his son a few weeks later, who was also born in the United States. The government has said his son’s death was a mistake, and during that strike they were targeting another known terrorist. Again, I might get slammed for this, but if you’re running in crowds of internationally wanted terrorists – I just can’t feel that sorry for you if you end up dead.
But their deaths are a debate for another time.
I’m just glad some Florida Republicans are condemning Black’s comments for being absolutely ridiculous. And like I said before, it’s just ironic that (without trial or conviction) Black is saying President Obama should be “hung” for “treason” for killing Americans – without trail.
Sadly, as primary season rolls on, I can almost guarantee we’ll see plenty more of this in the coming weeks/months.
If you would like to tell Mr. Black what you think of his disgusting stupidity, feel free to head over to his Facebook page and let him know.
