There’s really no other way to put this – Fox News is an absolute joke. Sure, there are a few people on the network who might be considered legitimate journalists, but America’s most-watched conservative entertainment network is mostly overrun with bombastic, right-wing clowns who pander to a conservative audience seeking a “news” source that tells them what they want to hear. This is, after all, the network that gave Donald Trump a weekly segment where he would call in and spout off whatever idiocy he felt like saying, often pushing conspiracies against the president. That’s a major reason why he’s managed to become such a superstar among millions of Republican voters this past year.
Well, among the bottom-feeders on Fox News, Eric Bolling ranks right near the top. You know, the guy who once belittled a female fighter pilot with his “boobs on the ground” comment and also once advocated for the “success” of Japanese internment camps. It’s a true testament to the type of people the network panders to that someone like Bolling still has a job after saying some of the stuff he’s said. So, it should come as no surprise that following the recent terrorist attack in Istanbul, Turkey, Bolling said some rather ridiculous comments regarding President Obama’s response.
After going on a rant about political correctness and how he feels not using the words “Islamic terror” matters, he then took offense to the fact that the president wasn’t “angry” enough.
“Get mad! Get angry! He could create some concern, some alarm and shake up the global community and say we need to join together!,” Bolling said.
Yes, because when you’re the leader of the free world, and president of the most powerful country on Earth, it’s good to lose your cool and go crazy with rage and anger — that’s real “professional.”
Is this idiot serious?
I don’t recall George W. Bush showing a great deal of anger or outrage after 9/11. In fact, here’s his very somber speech following that attack:
And here’s the very calm and collected FDR after the attack on Pearl Harbor:
Heck, here’s Ronald Reagan’s speech after the Beirut bombing where he’s not only very calm, but he gave the speech at a “Baptist Fundamentalism” convention. Now, imagine the right-wing uproar we would see if over 200 Marines died in a terrorist attack, then President Obama gave his response at some sort of liberal convention:
In each and every one of these speeches, concerning attacks directly aimed at Americans, none of these presidents freaked out or “lost their cool.” They were all professional and dignified like a president is supposed to be. The leader of the United States isn’t supposed to act like a bumbling fool, flailing their arms all around, shouting insults and profanities like Donald Trump often does.
This was simply Bolling looking for anything to bash the president for over this attack because it helps further push the conservative narrative that Obama is weak on terrorism and, in fact, might even be sympathetic to the terrorists. Because, you know, millions of conservatives (aka Fox News viewers) actually believe he’s a Muslim.
Yet, with this sort of propaganda being part of the “mainstream” within the conservative media, Republicans have the nerve to play dumb about how some bigoted and racist buffoon like Trump became their presumptive nominee for president? Donald Trump’s success is a direct consequence of the bigotry, racism and ignorance that the GOP and conservative media has been pandering to for decades. It was on full display here with Eric Bolling’s asinine comments about President Obama.
