Fox News Host Embarrassed By Fact Checkers After Blaming Obama for Bush Mistake

I’m not sure what’s more amusing, the fact that Fox News’ slogan is “Fair and Balanced” or that tens of millions of people actually believe that they’re fair and balanced.

I think the worst part is Fox News doesn’t even try to hide their bias.  They’re essentially an anti-Obama propaganda machine, masquerading as a news organization.

Recently, Fox News’ Jeanine Pirro tried to claim that President Obama is responsible for the leader of the I.S.I.S., Abu Bakr al Baghdadi, being free.

Pirro said, “The head of this band of savages is a man named Abu Bakr al Baghdadi, the new Osama Bin Laden.  A man released by Obama in 2009, who started ISIS a year later. And when Baghdadi left Camp Bucca, where the worst of the worst were held in Iraq, he threatened his American jailers saying, ‘I’ll see you in New York.’”

Just one small problem with that – it’s not true.  In fact, it got a rating of “False” by Politifact.

If you want to “blame” a president for the release of al Baghdadi, the only one you could blame is George W. Bush.

Politifact found exactly two possible scenarios behind the release of al Baghdadi – and they both point to the Bush administration.

According to the Defense Department he was released in 2004, not 2009.  Well before Obama became president.

But let’s say the Defense Department is confused and he was still in custody past 2004.  Toward the end of his second term, Bush signed an agreement with the Iraqi government that called for the U.S. to turn over nearly all of their detainees.  From there, many of those detainees were then released in 2009, by the Iraqi government – not President Obama.

So, to put it in very simple terms, in neither of the only two plausible scenarios did President Obama have anything to do with the release of al Baghdadi.  Though it’s clear that the Bush administration was in charge either when he was set free, or when the agreement was signed that led to his eventual freedom.

Yet once again we have Fox News, in true conservative fashion, trying to blame something on President Obama that actually occurred during the Bush administration.

The Kabuku Theater on FOx is appalling. That so many race hate deniers are Fox’s main body of loyal addicts is disgusting. Even a mulatto like Pirro has such self loathing that only a job lying for Rupert Murdock can satisfy her obsessive compulsion to defraud America with blatant, and unrepentant dishonesty.

  • Anthonij

President Obama is for died-in-the-wool conservatives the boogeyman, who embodies all their fears of the rise of ‘minorities’ to participation in the socio-political mainstream and their own potential loss of privilaged status.

There is a real aspect to this fear, to be sure, but there is also a very irrational aspect to it. Fox does its best to play to the irrational side, trying to mix in as much racism as they can and relying on dis- and mis-information to a degree that used to be found only in the press of totalitarian states.

    • Edward Krebbs

RE: “irrational side” Faux et al manage to put the entire irrational aspect into a blender. I know a guy who is Faux disposed and going through a nasty divorce. Get back a note from him about how the Marxist, socialist, fascists are in charge (his ex being an example).

  • (((d-_-b)))

    I know but still….

  • Mary McDonald Olson

I am starting to think that they lie on purpose – just to get those nasty seeds planted – by the time they say they are sorry it’s too late.

    • bobby

Yes, this is a classic propaganda technique. The accusation goes on Page 1 – the apology is mixed in with the classifieds (so to speak)

    • Jerry Graybosch

FOX spin comes from Roger Ailes. He is using a tactic of his mentor, Lee Atwater.

      • Bob Pineo

I’d like to see that fat fuck Ailes on a spit with an apple in his mouth.

      • James Moore

Damn that. Stick a wasp’s nest in his mouth!!

      • mereed

Lee Atwater died a terrible, long-drawn-out death, and in the middle of all that, he repented for his horrible policies (including mocking those with mental illness AS A PART OF HIS STRATEGY, endorsing and continuing the Nixonian “southern strategy” under Reagan to attract racists to the Republican party, flat out lies and innuendo right before the election so no one had time to verify them, and other nefarious dirty tricks he was so, so proud of until he was dying. He asked for forgiveness on his death bed for tearing the country apart with his cynical ploys. When Roger Ailes dies, I wonder if we’ll see something similar. He certainly has been a horrible, divisive force to this nation for a long, long time. I don’t think I, for one, could ever forgive him (as I have not forgiven Atwater).

      • poppaDavid

I understand that part of his repentance was to request a Bible. And after his death it was found, still in the original plastic wrap.

      • oldcap

And it was found just a Atwater was being fitted fr a fireproof suit.

      • Vivian Woodruff Thanos

Yes, I read that too. He wanted people to think he was sorry, but he probably wasn’t. He was the one that started it all…and it’s only gotten much worse with time.

      • 1EdMeadows83

When I think of Lee Atwater’s death I’m reminded of something Comedienne Moms Mabley said about the death of her husband, “My Mama taught me to say nuthin’ but good ’bout the dead. He dead. GOOD!”

      • John

And on his death bed Darwin renounced evolution in favor of a creator. Please don’t drag “GOD” or “RELIGION” into it. I tend to conservative, but like Islam, we have our own extremists in this country. Get off the bandwagon and put aside your labels. Conservative vs. Liberal? Democrat vs. Republican? I prefer not to be labeled. I can’t stand the ignorant rants I hear on either side. Jerks on FOX suck and I don’t hear any better from this narrow side of the fence.

      • badgerbabs

Where is your source for Darwin’s deathbed conversion? He was an agnostic during his life, rather than an atheist; I can find nothing verifying a conversion.

      • Aloanstar

John works like Fox…just say it and plant the seed.

      • Theresa McCormick

Forgive them. They’re not worth your time or energy. Those people have no right occupying space in your heart. You obviously care about the truth (or you despise them so), and the truth is people like that usually yr what’s coming to them. Be free friend.

    • Evasaddy

You’re only now “starting to think” that? Congratulations, and welcome to reality. FoxNews has been a propaganda machine since its inception.

      • My thoughts exactly! Hah.

      • ziggywiggy

it’s just an expression, please aim your snark at Fox , not at someone who has just said Fox lies on purpose.

    • wolfhounds27

They, FICTIONAL “news,” never say they are sorry or correct themselves…………..NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • FD Brian

I’m not sure I’ve ever heard Fox retract a story and say “sorry”…can you provide a link please? (this is the political equivalent of going snipe hunter btw)

      • Alejandro Robert

Yes, I saw one once. But here is a list of 11. Haha who knew? I loath Fox but ocassionally they do the right thing. And Megyn Kelly truth- slapping Cheney the othe rday was beyootiful!

      • Phil Ryan

Alejandro, this oh, wasn’t Megyn Kelly wonderful bitch slapping Cheney. That might have been effective if she had followed up when he basically just said “I disagree.” And they always come back to “oh let’s not relitigate the past (where I was wrong) let’s talk about my equally wrong analysis now.” Beyootiful? Hardly. But I give points for Kelly actually saying something that was remotely hardhitting even though the rest of the interview was a BJ to Cheney.

      • Steve Merrette

That’s because the majority of the time they are correct unlike the lefty news which just sucks on Obama’s dick between making up their nonsense…

      • FD Brian

        Bwhahaha, you obvious are delusional.

      • Steve Merrette

I’d try to explain it to you logically but that would be wasted on someone like you who wouldn’t understand logic and facts…

    • Eg Kbbs

Mary, agreed. The number of discussions I’ve had with right wingers who are normally otherwise honest people. They spout some “fact” that they’ve learned from Limbaugh/Faux/etc. I go back and look it up and they are wrong. But the discussion is over by then, point for RWNJs.

      • Palouse_Photog

I have provided links to video and audio clips to the RWNJ during he middle of an argument — they’ve watched/listened to them — and STILL say their fellow RWNJ is RIGHT!

They do not want to believe anything other than what they want to believe.

      • jonjstrine42

I explained to someone, in detail, how the ACA is not socialism. Her reply was that as far as she was concerned, it’s still socialism.
Then, when I gave her links to the CBO reports showing how much it would cost to repeal the ACA, and another link showing how in the future the ACA will help reduce the deficit, and her reply was that she wasn’t going to click on my, and I’m quoting here, “Liberal propaganda”.
You can’t reason with them. It’s just not possible.

      • Mary Joyce

Now you know how the Republicans feel trying to reason with the Demoncraps…

      • jonjstrine42

Wow. What an deeply intelligent retort.
Look, when Republicans start using facts and not just tossing around kindergarten-like insults like “Demoncraps”, come talk to me. Until then, enjoy your seat at the kid’s table.

      • victor soma

We’re dealing with people who think “libtard” is clever and think that Obama was named after Saddam Hussein.

      • 1EdMeadows83

“Demoncraps” Oh boy that’s almost a new one! I’ve only read it a few dozen times from people even dumber than Mary Joyce!

      • Phil Ryan

don’t confuse right wingers with facts. It is a fool’s errand. They have their beliefs and work backwards. Simple as that. The Dow is nearing 17,000 but Obama is a Marxist. The Affordable Care Act is a conduit to obtain insurance IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR but he’s a socialist. The list is endless. And so is the stupidity of the right.

      • Chris Lowe

Yeah, he’s really a lousy socialist.

      • Jim Valley

Research has shown that whereas liberals change their views when presented with evidence clearly disproving them, conservatives actually “double down” and believe a false statement they have made even more strongly AFTER IT HAS BEEN CONCLUSIVELY DISPROVEN RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM.

This is the kind of demented, irrational thinking we are dealing with on the far right.

      • Sharon Chapple Moulenbelt

Have you read the report that found Stupid germ been found on the tongues of some people and it’s a proven fact that Dems are smarter then Rethugs. Kinda goes hand in hand .. Now if Repubs could only learn to read and comprehend what they’ve read ..
stick out your tongue ..YUP HERE’S YOUR SIGN MARY JOYCE..

    • Karianne

Of course that is exactly why they do it. I’m surprised people are just now starting to catch on and wonder about it. It is intentional and they are not sorry. Ever. It is part of the ploy.

    • SpursBallWINS

You’re just now starting to think that, Mary? FOX News is registered with the FCC as an entertainment company. They are not required to only talk facts despite their channel being titled as a “News” station. No joke. That’s why Fox is able to get away with the ridiculous shit that they spew on a daily basis. Until that changes, the lies and propaganda will never end.

      • ziggywiggy

why is everyone jumping on the expression “starting to think that” I read it as just an informal lead-in , but it seems some of you thought it meant she didn’t believe it till now. I don’t know Mary but if someone says that “Fox lies” it’s not something new to them.

      • Allen Santee Summers

They actually went to court to protect their right to lie on air under the first amendment. People call me a liar when I say that, but the court transcripts are available online 😛

      • Mary Joyce

He is the leader of WHICH pack?

Welll, you’re probably right with that one, if by the “pack” you mean the entire United States of America.

      • 1EdMeadows83

    • Larry Williams

You’re just starting to think that??? Really???

    • Tim Coyle

they do, and have been busted for it to the point they sued for their right to lie and manipulate the news. they also have fired local reporters a few times in various cities who refused to report the manipulated news they were given to report.

DUhhh, of course they lie on purpose.

  • Mr. Smith

This happens all the time, there are FOX viewers that blame president Obama for starting the war in IRAQ.
Allen I would love to see you do a piece that shows polls that blame Mr. Obama for Bush administration actions prior to his taking office. I believe it would be an eye opening piece of journalism.

    • buricco

    • Rev. Tom

And Hillary already served two terms under Bill’s name.

      • maritzka

Your point? Bill left us in pretty good shape. I have to laugh at you Republiclowns obsessing on his sex life, when a huge percentage of your Con leaders were doing the same thing at the same time. Henry Hyde, Republican chair of the House Judiciary Committee and lead House manager, also had an affair while in office as a state legislator. Hyde, aged 70 during the Lewinsky hearings, dismissed it as a “youthful indiscretion” when he was 41. Robert Livingston-a congressman from Louisiana, about to be outed by Larry Flynt, confessed and resigned. Dan Burton, Republican Representative from Indiana, had stated “No one, regardless of what party they serve, no one, regardless of what branch of government they serve, should be allowed to get away with these alleged sexual improprieties”. In 1998, Burton admitted that he himself had an affair in 1983 that produced a child. Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Representative from Georgia and leader of the Republican Revolution of 1994, admitted in 1998 to having had an affair with a House intern while he was married to his second wife, at the same time as he was leading the impeachment of Bill Clinton for perjury regarding an affair with intern Monica Lewinsky. Republican Helen Chenoweth-Hage from Idaho aggressively called for the resignation of President Clinton and admitted to her own six-year affair with a married rancher during the 1980s.
In December 1998, Clinton’s political party, the Democratic Party, was in the minority in both chambers of Congress. Some Democratic members of Congress, and most in the opposition Republican Party, believed that Clinton’s giving false testimony and allegedly influencing Lewinsky’s testimony were crimes of obstruction of justice and perjury and thus impeachable offenses. The House of Representatives voted to issue Articles of Impeachment against him which was followed by a 21-day trial in the Senate.
All of the Democrats in the Senate voted for acquittal on both the perjury and the obstruction of justice charges. Ten Republicans voted for acquittal for perjury: John Chafee (Rhode Island), Susan Collins (Maine), Slade Gorton(Washington), Jim Jeffords (Vermont), Richard Shelby (Alabama), Olympia Snowe (Maine), Arlen Specter (Pennsylvania), Ted Stevens (Alaska), Fred Thompson (Tennessee), and John Warner (Virginia). Five Republicans voted for acquittal for obstruction of justice: Chafee, Collins, Jeffords, Snowe, and Specter.
President Clinton was thereby acquitted of all charges and remained in office. There were attempts to censure the President by the House of Representatives, but those attempts failed.

      • Rev. Tom

Did you even bother to read what I was making a reply to before you started your rant?
I am in no way a supporter of the republiCONs.
While I do believe that Hillary did have a lot of influence on Bill’s presidency, she did a damn good job. She would make a better president than anything the GOP has offered for decades.
As to what my reply was to, I would agree that Bush was nothing more than a puppet and he himself was not a president. W was so incompetent that before he was given the figurehead position he trashed any business opportunity that I am aware of he attempted to run. Had he actually acted as president the country would be in worse shape than he left it in.
Bush Sr. displayed his incompetence when it came to the Iran Contra Affair. As Vice President one of his duties was oversight of the CIA and when they illegally transferred weapons he claimed he knew nothing about it. Either he was telling a lie, he was incompetent or both which is more likely but still he was put into the position of president.
As for whatever Bill did or did not do sexually, it was never to my knowledge due to his pressuring anyone based on his position as president. If I remember correctly Hillary was asked something about Bill’s rumored infidelity prior to him even being elected as president and her reply was to ask if people were voting for a Pope or a president. That basically said what sort of open relationship their marriage was/is and if that is what works for them I have no problem with it.
I think people need to get out of each others bedrooms and allow them to live by their choices.
I will agree with you that the bigotry does show their lack of character and as such may be used to judge if they are to be voted on to remain in their political position however where it was already inferred by Hillary that sexual openness in their marriage is something that is accepted and it was not a matter of misuse of position, it should never have been something anyone else had any business with.
Had Hillary ran against either McCain or Romney I would have voted to have her re-elected in her name being that she did a good job together with Bill under his name.
As stated which I agree with in my reply, Bush was never president, he was a puppet.
My point, your rant was based on an incorrect assumption.

      • 1EdMeadows83

One should be very careful and make one’s point clear or it will be pounced upon, sometimes by an ally.

      • Rev. Tom

Being as my reply was to a comment that started with “They say” I did not know it would also be necessary to start my reply with “They also say”.
In your rant you do make some good points though.

      • 1EdMeadows83

I wasn’t criticizing you or your comment. Quite often people will make comments about something but they leave us dangling about what the original comment was.
I do appreciate your appreciation but I don’t know what “rant” you are referring to.

      • Rev. Tom

Sorry, the rant was not your comment. My internet keeps screwing up and I get what looks like a letter with the post from Maritzka only visible for the name when I opened the replies. Vodophone which is for now my provider keeps changing their excuses as to why I keep having connection and display problems.
The first time I tried to write this reply my connection dropped and it would not even post so everything got lost and I am trying again.
Unfortunately where I live I cannot get connections with many of the providers. Some areas of Germany have plenty of providers with good fast connections and others like where I live it is very limited. If I lived closer to the installations in Ramstein/Kaiserslautern I would have better access but I chose to live between the US Army and and US Air force installations I have been working with over the years. The installations in my area covers a couple hours drive in different directions.

      • gian keysTOOEASY flat mom

if that’s a rant then glenn beck/ sean Hannity and rush Limbaugh are spokesmen for “low carb” dieting

      • Rev. Tom

I had corrected my comment and apologized for having referred to the comment of 1EdMeadows83 as a rant. My internet has been acting up and I received his reply in a run on page without breaks between comments so it appeared as though his reply was from maritzka about sexual improprieties which had nothing to do with my first comment. When it finally showed the page correctly, I tried twice to post the correction and I thought the second time it posted but then my internet went down so I could not check and the next day I did not think to check again.
Rushed Limbotomy and co put out nothing more than lies and propaganda regurgitation. I have not even listened to “AFN” (the US Military radio station and never had their television channels being that I am in the Ramstein/Kaiserslautern,Germany US Military community) for the past couple years because around 1/3 of their “news” comes from Fox which is consistently wrong, the rest provided is split between sever networks but generally it seemed censored, nothing that countered Fox. You can get more and more accurate news from local stations.
Today it seems the internet is working again although as slow as molasses on a cold day.

      • gian keysTOOEASY flat mom

        outstanding,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I make many mistakes also

I had a one page post without spaces and it looked like I was making a reply to marizka and that is why I referred to it as a rant based on the sexual indiscretions comments. I have not been able to post for 5 days to explain this though.

      • Rev. Tom

Nice, now my replies from 5 days ago and 8 hours ago finally show. Up until now I have not been able to see them.

Yes, I consider the comment form marizka to be a rant as it is unreasonable and extravagant, written as an objection to what was already posted and has nothing to do with the other comments.

Yes Bush administration burned my house down to the ground but Obama is president now.

Great yet my house is still burned to the ground.

    • Larry Berry

I’ve been told “stop blaming bush” for something that bush himself signed, and that Obama had absolutely nothing to do with. So Wait, even though bush did it, Obama is to blame because bush isn’t President anymore? If that’s the case then Obama also gets credit for signing the Declaration of Independence, because Washington isn’t President anymore, Obama is. And Obama gets credit for the Emancipation Proclamation, because Lincoln isn’t President anymore, Obama is.

      • 1EdMeadows83

Errr, Larry, I’m totally on your side but Washington did not sign the Declaration of Independence.

I am a Iraq War COMBAT Veteran from April 2003 – 2004, and I only blame one President, and that President is George W. Bush. There is NO need to blame our current President because he has done more in his first term as well as his second term than both Bush put together. So stop hating on our Real Commander in Chief and just be glad that we have a President who gives a F#@K about our country!

    • saml67

Roger, thank you for your service!

Your service to your country is appreciated.

“Real” Commander in Chief……what the heck are you smoking?

      • Truthteller

Not smoking Bush a** like you for sure.

      • 1EdMeadows83

Jeez, do I have to explain everything to you miscreants? Roger obviously meant that President Obama is a far superior Commander in Chief than was George W. Bush, the guy who caused the deaths of thousands of Roger’s fellow servicemen.

      • James

how about the 1000s of deaths that have now been wasted by Obama putting out of Iraq too early and now what took us years to do in that country has been ripped apart in a matter of days because the Iraqi gov’t was ready to handle everything on their own?

      • 1EdMeadows83

Jimmy, don’t you watch the news on television or read the newspapers or use common sense? President Obama is pulling troops out of Afghanistan & Iraq to save American lives! We should never have had the military in those countries in the first place. Are you so dense you don’t realize that President Cheney and his hand puppet G. W. Bush sent our boys into that conflagration for the simple reason that they wanted OIL? Halliburton did quite well because of that senseless war but try to explain to the grieving mothers and wives that their kids and husbands died for Halliburton.

      • Erica McClellan

Quite frankly, the Shrub signed the binding agreement that required us to leave! Are you accusing Obama of following the international agreement set in place years before? How dare he! And if the Shrub hadn’t sent our troops in under fallacious circumstance, Iraq wouldn’t have become destabilized in the first place! No one may have liked SH, but he kept the most radical elements in check and his country stable. Such. Ignorance.

      • Sean Jones

How many of your brothers died because Bush needed to impress daddy? Or is that Obamas fault too for not preventing 2 wars before he even ran for President? How many of your brothers have been denied public assistance because the Repubs see them as “lazy takers”? How many of your brothers are currently unemployed because the Repubs though that money to re integrate the troops into society would be better spent buying off the Oil industry? And how many of your brothers are now home, safe with their families because Obama pulled them out? Now I know you wont answer any of these questions honestly, doesn’t fit your narrative

    • Theodore Theodora Gregory Twin

Roger Young as a former Police Officer I thank you from the bottom of my heart for fighting in a war that had nothing to do with weapons of mass destruction, but only the protection of the rich liars (Bush 1&2, Chaney, and the GOP) assets in the Middle East. Thank you for risking your life to protect our borders.

You need to do some research on our CIC. I too am a verteran 4 deployments to be exact. If you dont see that he is ripping this country apart you are blind. He broke the biggest rule of negotiating with terrorists, and for a deserter at that! Were doomed if everyone thinks like you.

      • clouseau

You obviously never heard of Ronald Reagan.

      • 1EdMeadows83

Who? Wasn’t he an actor of some kind?

yes a very bad actor and an even worse president.

      • gian keysTOOEASY flat mom

        bonzo’s buddie

      • DelcoCraig

First of all, he’s not a deserter until proven one in court martial, you should know that Mr four tours. Secondly, it’s going to be harder than hell for anyone to prove that given the fact it’s not the first time he went AWOL (look it up). If you actually were ever in the military, you should know the first rule is we never leave any of our own behind. Whether or not the guy is a pos is to be decided, but until then he’s ours, and we don’t leave our own to be judged by our enemies. Add to all of that Bush let out over 500 enemy combatants from Guantanamo and got nothing four them, I’ll trade five sheep herders for an American soldier any day of the week.

      • critic81

One of ours?? Yeah right. Anyways we can sit and argue all day long and not get anywhere. The man left with all of his things behind in a combat fucking environment! Touch a hot stove, get burned. Correct? Let me guess, you also believe that him being held captive was enough punishment?? Once he left he should have been considered theirs, not ours! The note isnt enough for you? Now had there been no note, or fellow soldiers saying he wasnt a shitbag, then yes, we get our own.the things the men in his platoon had to say about him wasnt enough? How bout obama going over congress? Yeah, thats totally okay. Were falling the fuck apart and everyone is welcoming it. Who cares what past presidents have do e wrong, shouldnt that be a lesson for what a new president shouldnt do? We could all be wrong at the end of the day, and the sad truth is you nor I will know until something drastic happens, or doesnt happen.

      • Alejandro Robert

We are not “falling apart” we are changing and adapting. We are trying a new strategy that assumes even the enemy can be reasonable. That they may have legitimate grievances. That at some point we all have to put past sind behind or we´ll never solve anything. And when I say solve I mean not bomb a people out of existence. Look at the English and the Irish. Also that talking is always a good option before declaring war. It is not weak unless you are very insecure in your strength. That prinipals should be inviolate even if they are not politically popular or expedient. How convenient BTW that you write “who cares what past presidents did”. You don´t like it because Obama did it. Congress knew for months this deal was being negotiated. Maybe he should have waited for Congress to ok the final deal but again there is precedent for this. And apparently some urgency. Of course the Repubs would gladly have agreed to this deal and done it quickly right? I would pray your life is never in the hands of the Republican Congress because if it would make Obama look even remotely good to save you, you´d be a dead man.

      • David Reefer

Last I checked, there was NO asterisk to “leave no man behind”… Perhaps a better understanding of the English language may be necessary to fully grasp that concept.

You or this man’s fellow soldiers do not get to decide whom we may or may not leave behind. Plain and simple.

As for his alleged transgressions, I do believe all you holier-than-thou hypocrites still trust in the concept of “innocent until proven guilty by a jury of his peers”? If so, then sit the hell down, and wait until the investigation is complete and his guilt is proven before you bring out the rope to hang the man with.

        Jeesh !!!

      • 1EdMeadows83

“The man left with all of his things behind in a combat fucking environment!” To me that may be an indication that he intended to return to his base. That is unless you have ironclad EVIDENCE to the contrary. Who knows, maybe even an outstanding warrior like you may have broken a few rules. We’ll never know about that though, will we?

      • James

His whole unit, has spoken publicly that of the crimes he has committed against his unit, his branch, and his country.

You do not just walk away from your unit. They are your best friends, your brothers…

And all of you bashing the other veterans that are saying things against this other one should be ashamed of yourselves. He served his country. Put his life on the line and most likely lost a few friends, and you sit here and bash him like hes nothing???

And the worst part is he did all of this so you right now can have freedom and be safe and just because his views are not yours, you are going to sit here and bash his views? Makes me sick to be in the same country as you all right now…

      • 1EdMeadows83

Well Jimmy, what I take from your diatribe is that you believe the basic principle of the American justice system. “Innocent until proven guilty” is a lot of hogwash. OK, that attitude worked well in the South until a relatively few years ago, “Get a rope!” I’m sure the sergeant will face military justice once he is reestablished into society. I don’t blame the veterans who are angry with him. They are mostly kids who have a mob view of things.

      • Nancy B

“And it’s one, two, three, what are we fighting for?” I am amazed at how many veterans, who signed up to fight for our freedoms, at risk of death, have forgotten that one of those freedoms is the right to due process. We are struggling. But not falling apart. This country has been in far worse shape.

      • Phil Ryan

the soldier who was spouting shit against this guy received a less than honorable discharge. Consider the source. Plus they were “found” by Fox News who colluded with a former Bush operative. This was an engineered “outrage” to once again try to smear this president. And you, soldier boy, four tours are participating in the worst kind of lack of patriotism by going after YOUR commander in chief on the flimsiest of excuses.

      • 1EdMeadows83

critic, you may be a verteran but Roger is a Veteran! And I’m sure the military branch you were in taught you everything you know about negotiating with terrorists. You really haven’t described just how your Commander in Chief is “ripping this country apart”. Is it because he is black?

      • James

yes oh god yes its because hes black… not to mention thats heres part white too…. everyone seems to always leave that part out. why is it that everytime someone says anything bad about Obama. that person must be a racist.

Leave the race card at home please.

      • 1EdMeadows83

Well that’s OK Jimmy, He’s “half white and half black” so it’s only the black half you hate?

      • 1EdMeadows83

Do you think you’re writing only to a bunch of civilians here? I’m also a veteran but I don’t have to make a big point about it.

      • Phil Ryan

sadly, critic, you and your kind are ripping this country apart. And what is even more sad is your stupidity. You act like this has never been done before. Was Reagan (blessed be his name, saint that is he for Republicans) ripping the country apart when he traded arms with terrorist to free hostages? And furthermore you have no definitive proof WHAT this man was except a concerted effort by a former Bush operative in cahoots with Fox News to drum up opposition. And in true dumb fashion you conflate two issues. We don’t leave soldiers behind. You of all people should know this. The completely separate issue is he will be investigated and if needs be put on trial. So instead of telling other people to do research, you might take your own advice and do some yourself.

      • Basil Malik

WHich part of the country is he ripping apart..

is it the wealthy who has taken 90% of the economic gains since 2009.

Is it corporate wealth which is now the highest its ever been in 80 years.. Can’t be that.
is it tax cuts for average American families… oh he did that. oh I know what it is. Jobs which is the number one priority actually number two priority of the repugnican party.

So lets see. Obama came into office unemployment was higher than 11% it is now in the low sixes. Yeah he’s ruining the country on that point or lets look at it another way. Whenever America has encountered a recession presidents would increase the size of the federal government to increase employment and spending. The repugnicans created an environment hostile to government hiring and Obama has actually reduced the size of the federal government. Most mentally stable economist and the CBC estimates that federal hiring would have reduced unemployment by 1 – 2 points. I know too many facts.

Also the repugnicans have refused to pass a transportation bill to repair the dangerously neglected highways and bridges in this country. This too would have added more jobs and increase spending which would have added more jobs. I know basic econ.. SO there are at least two very significant things that could have been done to help america and yet repugs refuse.
so lets recap. Obama has reversed a quickly sliding recession. He lowered taxes for middle income families. He saved the auto industry, The stock market is at the highest its ever been along with corporate profits. He signed into law the aca which is a repugnican idea. Umm he managed to kill Osama a task bush said he wasnt concerned about. Pretty decent right?
Meanwhile the repugs have shut down the government, refused to vote on a transportation bill, a jobs bill and never offered their own plans on neither. have yet offered an alternative to the ACA. They cant because its their idea. They have refused unemployment insurance which is paid into by every american so if they are unemployed there is a small safety net, They have defunded public education and have made voting harder for those they believe would vote against them. Pretty patriotic right? Sorry I’m ranting. How is Obama ripping the country apart again?

I beleive highly in the separation of Church and State. But even in Parochial school, every day we said the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag and prayed for the President to grant him wisdom and strength, no matter what party he was from, or if we liked him or not.

It becomes acceptable to not honor the office of the President of the United States, when the President breaks the very laws he has written and is a traitor to the very country he also took an oath to protect.

      • Michael Marowitz

5 terrorist generals? Where’d you get that? Benghazi–oh you mean that show that should have been canceled months ago but that’s been playing in Washington to cover up the fact that far more embassy workers died from attacks during W’s reign of terror? Obamacare wasn’t forced on anyone–it had to prevail over one of the most easily refuted claims ever heard–death panels? You’re just a sore loser. You got any proof of bribery? Didn’t think so, other than the millions given to hundreds of politicians to vote against a public option?

You are a perfect example of a simpleton who lives off rightist disinformation.. No you can go on being a self-deceiving simpleton for as long as you like.

      • Jason Dionne

“forcing ObamaCare on an unwilling public”?
Wow, your’e kinda dumb, arntcha? You see, Mr Obama ran on a platform of healthcare reform and won the election by a MASSIVE majority. He didn’t surprise anyone or force anything – he told us exactly what he was gonna do if we elected him, and we did. Then that “unwilling public” re-elected him in a landslide 4 years later despite the faux goons and their drones (i.e. you) best attempts to convince us, the public, that we were unwilling. Stop speaking for the rest us please, cuz the numbers pretty plainly show that we, the people, were and still are far from “unwilling”. Oh, and by the way BENGHAZI!

      • James

“if you like your plan, you can keep it” you remember that statement? well guess what my girlfriend did like her plan and since then had to change her plan 3 different times because of obamacare. now she had to change the meds she is on because the current plan doesnt cover the ones she was using. and on top of that pays more for the shittier versions of the meds than she used to pay for the name brand meds…

      • Jason Dionne

I see. So your completely irrelevant anecdote about your GF suddenly makes the president a traitor? The fact that you personally are opposed the ACA means that it was somehow forced on an unwilling public? I won’t bother reiterating my prior comments because you clearly have no interest in facts, only shouting about Obama much like all your heroes at Faux. “I don’t like Obamacare!” doesn’t really support your argument or dispute mine in anyway, just in case you were wondering.
        Oh, and Benghazi! Benghazi! Benghazi!!!

He was a Medal of Honor recipient.
“Shines the name — Rodger Young,Fought and died for the men he marched among. To the everlasting glory of the Infantry Lives the story of Private Rodger Young.” The last line of the Ballad of Rodger Young.

      • Roger Young

Wow, I believe I did hear about that. That’s awesome, thanks for sharing and that is really good to know about PVT Young.

    • Ann Anderson

The national debt has, in fact, DECREASED significantly on Obama’s watch. He raised the debt ceiling, just like every republican president since Nixon did. Go learn something instead of spouting the stuff you hear on Faux

      • James

“As a result of all this deficit spending, the total debt that the
federal government owes to the public has gone up 99.8 percent since the
day Obama entered office, rising to $12.6 trillion.”

If this page is liberal and trying to defeat right wing bias…why are you guys accepting ad space from Newsmax??? They’re hardcore right wingers.

    • Dan

Red, blue, doesn’t matter. All money’s green, man, and most of the people on this site are intelligent enough to recognize (as you did) when they’re seeing something they know isn’t to their liking.

    • Gary Smith

(As someone who has done web development for everything from multinational corporations to small mom-and-pop companies for over 15 years) Most websites have no control over the ads that appear on their site. They sell the ad space to internet ad placement services, and the ads are placed in the sold ad space by those agencies, based upon the category the site falls into (news, comedy, political, etc).

In fact, almost exclusively, the text, images and code that make up those ads isn’t hosted on the site’s servers; they’re loaded from the ad agency’s servers when the page is loaded. That’s why you can reload a page and see a different ad in the same spot.

Forwardprogressives isn’t consciously choosing to feature NewsMax ads, but it’s quite likely that NewsMax selects sites like Forwardprogressives and Huffington Post for their ads as a type of counter-programming propaganda.

      • Tim Anderson

Thanks Gary…had NO idea. What a great opportunity to create an ad selling/buying site that targets proper ideology to its customers. You should develop that into a marketable solution.

  • neddycat

Fox almost never retracts – and when pushed, they claim NOT to be a news organization, but one of “opinion.” They only actually have a couple of “news” shows per day. BUT one story I can remember they DID retract was when they said the Supreme Court had ruled the ACA invalid. I’d have LOVED it if, in their usual fashion, they hadn’t because it would have been fun to see how long it would have taken their viewers to find out – since most of them “don’t trust anybody else” but Fox.

Sorry to tell you but that job was already finished by the time Obama took over from Dubya and his band of war criminals.

Where was the outrage when Dubya and Cheney sent hundred of thousands of U.S. servicemen to war under false pretenses? Where was the outrage when they abused Iraqi POWs? Where was the outrage when they set free dozens from Guantanamo Bay? Oh, wait… Dubya and Cheney were white so it does not count.

Only if the President is black (well, actually he is mixed-race) do the self-righteous bubbas suddenly rediscover their need to question the government’s every action. You know, Benghazi, FEMA prison camps, Obamacare, and all that…

But hey, they are only being patriots… Not racists or anything like that, right? RIIIIIGHHHHHTTTTTT !!!!

    • 1EdMeadows83

Mina dear, please explain to us ignorant Donkeys, how is President Obama destroying America? And how is he a freak? He has more degrees than you knew even existed. He is married to a brilliant woman who is a Harvard Law School graduate and they have two well-adjusted daughters. To you, that’s freaky? I think that explains more about you than it does our president!

Do you quacks ever listen or ever read anything you type. For 6 years since Obama been in office this Nation as gone from number one to Number three. Davy, are you aware there are three (3) branches of government and that one cannot function properly without the other two? Maybe they didn’t teach that in your Texas, Alabama, or Mississippi school that you attended. But you should not lecture those of us who have real education. The president, whether he is Obama, Bush or Carter cannot fully function if he is opposed constantly by a recalcitrant congress and/or an ultra right-wing Supreme Court. If you don’t know these things then you really shouldn’t embarrass yourself by commenting on these topics.

I found that reported on more than one media outlet and let’s note they provided the story and released the name of the Army Col. who provided the information to them. . At the time of his release, Army Col. Kenneth King explains that al-Baghdadi looked him in the eye and boldly claimed, “I’ll see you guys in New York.” He claimed this happened in 2009. The US was aiming to rid the world of SH before Bush came into office and 9/11 was what finally pushed not just Bush but Congress as well. Clinton himself has stated if had been given the same information he would have acted the same. We are at war with not countries, but terrorists who have no respect for life, including their own. Let’s just hope and pray we are never faced with another 9/11 again as none of us might not know who to blame.

I just read the comments here and I would encourage anyone who hasn´t yet to read The Republican Noise Machine by David Brock. It´s an insiders history of how, why and by whom the Right Wing bubble was made, And how it is maintained. Warning. your blood will boil. My only hope is that as the Right becomes more desparate and pushes bigger and bolder lies they will continue to outrage even their loyalists. Even people who want to believe the lies can´t tolerate being treated like amnesic imbeciles forever. At least I hope so.

wow do you people even do research on your own? The guy was captured in Iraq in 2005. So how the hell could he be released in 2004? and you guys are calling the rights dumb. You don’t even look up facts…

You guys just feed the shit the news says to you right in your mouths and then act like your breath doesn’t stink…

And the worst part is…. I didnt even have to dig deep to find this information. Took me less than 10 mins.

And I could care less if the DoD says “nope its 2004 not 2009” ya the gov’t doesn’t lie to us at all huh?

I saw multiple creditable sites, saying Bakr was released in 2009, and was captured in 2005. So please lets do some simple thinking and math here.

does 2005 come before 2004? The correct answer is “No”

Therefore, Bakr couldnt of been released in 2004, because it is physically impossible to release someone that hasn’t been captured yet.

This is why America is going to shit. Because people believe whatever the hell people tell them to believe and no one has the sense to do a little research and realize, they are being lied to.

Wake the hell up! I didn’t fight for this country to watch it get ripped apart by mindless sheep. Use your brains and get off the reality TV Shows and learn something…

If he was released into Iraqi custody, and then Iraq set him free later, then neither president would be culpable. Unless you’re saying we should hold these prisoners indefinitely and not release them at all… oh wait, we were doing that, but that was made really unpopular by….. hmmm…. let me think here…… It’ll come to me….. Oh yeah–Obama. I guess time will tell what happens with all the ones that are getting released by him currently.

I seriously want to move to a different country when I look at what has happened to our nation.

  • Susan March

This is no big deal to Fox News. They’ve never been too concerned about presenting the facts.

  • Cambel

How was FOX embarrassed by this? They will never report the error, the host will never admit she made a mistake, so as far as their audience is concerned there was no mistake. The fact that FOX’s second majority owner is a Saudi Prince who was quotes as saying that a Strong U.S. govt. is bad for them is pretty interesting when you consider that the network he co-owns spends all of it’s time attacking the U.S. Government.

  • Zaidi

I’m sure this President would rather be judged for the things he’s done, instead of the things his predecessor did and for which he is being blamed. This is ‘par for course’ for FOX News, and their ‘marching orders’ is to make this President FAIL! The problem I find with the Democratic Party–reading: us ‘liberals’– is that we suffer from a kind of ‘intellectual hubris’ that endows us with feelings of superiority and disdain over those Neanderthals at FOX News; as if this is enough to motivate people to the polls, and why it’s no mere coincidence that the President’s press conferences sound like a lecture at Harvard Hall. What I find troubling is the Democratic Party’s strategy: Letting the ‘Lie Machine’, that is FOX News, do their work for them; that enables this President to make his time in office a ‘perpetual campaign’, where he plays the victim of Republican shenanigans and not the Leader we elected him to be!

  • John

This is only an “embarrassment” if Pirro was forced to recant her false assertion on-air, and there’s no mention of FAUX making the correction in this article. So in other words, she lied, never copped to it – and FAUX’ mouth-breathing audience lapped it up as gospel.

even the creation of ISIS itself can more accurately be traced to 1) the Iraq war itself 2) the starting of the Arab spring that bush supported ,3) the disbanding of the Iraqi army 4) the choosing of Noori al Maliki 5) the failure of Bush to secure a SOFA agreement (status of forces). The mishandling of the troop surge. The alienation of the Kurds ,and the Sunnis ,in favor of the shi’ites and the not allowing heavy weapons to be owned by the Kurd ,because of the objections of turkey

  • Xolodnyj

Was she really embarrassed? I think it is rather impossible for anyone at Fox to be embarrass on how they mislead people. It is what works for them. They make up their own facts because they know who their audience is. They know that the best way for them to stay in business is to feed off the hate of a good portion of their viewers and to give them the red meat they so desire, regardless if it’s true or not.

  • TB

As an original employee of FOX News, even the employees working for them in the field would joke about the “We Report, You Decide” phrase. We commonly mocked it, saying “We distort, and take sides”. They’ve been doing it since day 1, but at least at the beginning they tried to hide it. Problem is, they were outed, their ratings went up, so why hide it? Double down and go for it all.
