Fox News’ Shep Smith Mocks Trump’s Backtracking on ‘Big, Beautiful Wall’ (Video)

While it’s true that the vast majority of the people over at Fox News have become nothing more than shills for Donald Trump, effectively turning the network into this “president’s” own state-run media, there are still a couple of people over at American’s most-watched conservative fan fiction channel who have the courage to speak the truth on a network where facts and reality are often treated as “fake news.”

One of those is Shep Smith, who’s called out Trump on several occasions over the last few years. Most recently on Tuesday when he openly mocked this “president” for going from promising a “big, beautiful wall that Mexico would pay for” during his campaign to now not even calling it a wall, instead referring to it as “border security.”

“The president has changed his stance on the border wall,” Smith stated. “Instead of a big, beautiful wall with a big, beautiful door, what he told voters over and over and over again, now he advocates for a wall in some areas, technology and patrols in other areas. Quote, ‘We don’t need 2,000 mile wall.’”

“Remember to get protection for Dreamers, DACA, there must be more border security, they’re not calling it a wall anymore, now they call it border security,” the Fox News host added.

Remarkable, isn’t it?

While nothing Trump says or does surprising me anymore, I am constantly amazed at how stupid he continues to treat his supporters — yet they continue to defend and support him anyway.

Without a doubt, Trump’s biggest campaign promise was to “build a big, beautiful wall that Mexico was going to pay for.” A real wall he asserted several times throughout his campaign. Yet, now it’s gone from a wall spanning the entire U.S./Mexico border to a sort of wall in some areas, but not others, because, as Smith pointed out, Trump now claims that we “don’t need a 2,000 mile wall.”

All the while, Trump’s now asking for taxpayers to fund the billions needed to build this pointless thing, breaking another big part of his campaign promise that Mexico would be footing that bill.

This is why I don’t feel bad calling Trump supporters “stupid” or “ignorant.” As long as they continue to defend and support someone who obviously treats them like a bunch of mindless idiots who’ll believe anything, why should I make the effort to treat them any differently?

How many campaign promises must Trump break before his supporters start to realize that basically everything he said he was going to do if he was elected during his campaign was nothing more than lies he knew they were gullible enough to believe? He counted on their ignorance and desire to trust anything he told them — no matter how unrealistic — because he knew from the moment he decided to run for “president” that they were dumb enough to actually believe him.

What we have here is another great example of Trump proving how completely full of crap he is, and a rare instance where someone on Fox News actually had the courage to call him out on it.
