GOP Congressman Slams Ted Cruz’s ‘Outrageous’ and ‘Inappropriate’ Stunt at Christian Event

ted-cruz-foolIn his short time in Congress, Texas Senator Ted Cruz has made quite the name for himself as someone who often acts absolutely ridiculous. My belief is that he ran for office not to govern, but to set up a presidential run in 2016. And judging by his behavior since he was elected, that’s exactly what he seems to be doing.

So when I saw where he staged a ridiculous rant during a Middle Eastern Christians event, I wasn’t at all surprised.

His remarks were so absurd, even a fellow Republican has called out the Texas senator for comments he called “outrageous and incendiary.”

Rep. Charlie Dent (R-Pa.) said, “I support Israel, but what Senator Cruz did was outrageous and incendiary. He showed a true lack of sensitivity for the people he was speaking to, especially the religious leaders who were there. It was a political speech, inappropriate and, overall, an uncomfortable moment.”

“He was speaking to people outside of the building,” Dent continued. “It was a willful and deliberate confrontation, and very self-serving.”

I couldn’t agree more.

Cruz knew exactly what he was doing when he gave this speech. Heck, he probably knew more or less what he was going to say when he accepted the speech. He used this opportunity as nothing more than excuse to pander to radical right-wing tea party Christians.

See, Cruz is one of those people who believe Israel is infallible. Whereas many Middle Eastern Christians have issues with the Israeli government because they claim their policies make it harder on Christians living in the Middle East. People like Cruz act as if any criticism of Israel means you’re anti-Semitic. Because he lives in a world where logic and common sense do not exist.

The reality is, it’s entirely possible to criticize some of Israel’s policies without being anti-Semitic. The world isn’t black and white. There’s a lot of gray in between. But in the world in which Ted Cruz lives, where you’re pandering to the most ignorant among us, moderation doesn’t exist.

In his world, you’re either unequivocally, and without question, for Israel – or you’re an anti-Christian, Jew-hating heathen.

I’ll at least give Cruz credit for proudly putting on full display the true ignorance of the typical right-wing tea party Republican.
