Here’s the Childish Reason Why Trump Likely Backed Out of the Paris Climate Deal

As most people should have expected, on Thursday, Donald Trump announced that he was withdrawing from the historic 195-nation Paris climate accord. Anyone who’s shocked by this move clearly hasn’t been paying attention to who Trump is and the level of unprecedented incompetence he represents.

The truth is, Trump’s a legitimate moron. I’m not using hyperbole — he’s not a very intelligent person. He’s someone who has a very short attention span, a child-like vocabulary, and seems to lack any ability to understand or decipher complex things around him. So Trump’s decision to pull the United States out of this agreement had nothing to do with any sort of in-depth understanding of science, climate change, or what this deal was even about.

I also don’t believe this has anything to do with the typical right-wing devotion to big oil, coal, or hatred of the indisputable science behind climate change. If you ask me, this is all about Trump doing everything he can to undo anything President Obama did while he was in office.

For years it’s been obvious that Trump not only can’t stand Obama — but he’s obsessively jealous of him. As someone who’s spent most of his life being able to bully those around him, no matter how he tried to “get” the former president, he never could.

Go back to the 2011 White House Correspondents Dinner when President Obama hilariously mocked Trump — while he was in attendance:

Now, I know that he’s taken some flak lately but no one is prouder to put this birth certificate matter to rest than The Donald. And that’s because he can finally get back to focusing on the issues that matter, like, did we fake the moon landing? What really happened in Roswell? And where are Biggie and Tupac? All kidding aside, we all know about your credentials, and your breadth of experience. For example, on a recent episode of Celebrity Apprentice, at the steakhouse, the men’s cooking team did not impress the men from Omaha Steaks. There was lots of blame to go around, but you, Mr. Trump, recognized that the real problem was a lack of leadership. Ultimately, you didn’t blame Lil Jon or Meatloaf, you fired Gary Busey. These are the kinds of decisions that keep me up at night. Well handled, sir! Well handled.

Even host Seth Meyers took a brutal dig at Trump:

Trump said he’s running as a Republican. Which is surprising: I just assumed he was running as a joke.

He said he’s got a great relationship with ‘the blacks.’ Unless the Blacks are a family of white people, I bet he’s mistaken.

To most people, jokes like that aren’t that big of a deal considering the event and the fact that most of us aren’t unhinged, petty, insecure, narcissistic egomaniacs like Trump. In his world, having to sit there, quietly, while Obama publicly made fun of him as others laughed at his expense was the ultimate insult. In Trump’s world, one where he has the power to bully or punish anyone who might dare do such a thing, having someone he had no power to control saying such things was infuriating. Especially someone who he was convinced was an illegitimate president.

Until he was “elected” last November, Trump never had the power or influence to do anything to Obama. He had to sit there while a person he hated — someone who was far more intelligent, respected, liked, and admired than he’ll ever be — led this nation back from the worst economic collapse in nearly a century.

Oh, but that all changed on January 20, 2017 when he was officially sworn into office. At long last, the petty, childish, and mentally deranged Trump could wield his power as “president” to, in any way he could, undo everything Barack Obama had accomplished during the previous eight years.

His jealousy for his predecessor is so overwhelming that, even though there’s indisputable evidence to the contrary, he’s repeatedly lied about the size of his inauguration crowd because he couldn’t stand the fact that Obama’s was larger.

If there’s a way Trump can undo something Obama did or accomplished as president, you can bet your ass he’s going to do it. This is a childish man who cares more about appeasing his own ego than anything else, regardless of the damage done to the Earth, our allies, or American citizens.

For Trump, this move, like so many others, wasn’t about his stance on climate change, or even about the agreement itself — it was about undoing another one of Obama’s accomplishments.

Since Trump couldn’t defeat him while he was an ordinary citizen, and didn’t have the courage to run against him in 2012, the only way he can try to “beat” Obama is by using his power to do whatever he can to effectively erase his presidency. He’s living (and “leading”) by the mindset of, “If Obama did/supported it, I’m doing the opposite.”

Donald Trump is an unfit, unqualified, and completely incompetent mental infant who will never be a fraction of the man, president, father, or husband that Barack Obama is.

And he knows it.

A treaty is “a formally concluded and ratified agreement between countries.” Since an accord is “an official agreement or treaty” (Google dictionary definition), Obama failed to obtain the Constitutionally required 2/3 Senate majority necessary to concur with his Paris “Accord” treaty. Maybe its not too late for the Senate to vote on the Obama’s treaty. Trump didn’t negotiate it. Obama did. So it seems like the Senate could still move ahead and pass it if it so chose. Why not instead be angry with your senators for not doing their part?

Yes, and we are! Here in San Antonio because we have some of the worst Senators in the Country.
I don’t know if what you suggest is possible, but what is possible is to get rid of Cruz, Cornyn and others like them and yes the Representatives as well.

        Hammer meet nailhead!

You will have to vote in Senators who refuse to vote for the Paris Accord and elect a president who will send the Paris Accord to the Senate for approval. One problem with unconstitutionally trying to enact treaties by executive order, as we are seeing, is that someone else’s executive order can void the initial executive order.

I think the argument would be along the lines of the fact that it wasn’t an accord, it was an agreement (the french term for ‘agreement’ being ‘accord.’) As such, presidential sign-off is all that is required.

I was referring to the English word ‘accord’. Using the same dictionary, the definition of ‘TREATY’ is “a formally concluded and ratified agreement between countries.

synonyms: AGREEMENT, settlement, pact, deal, entente, concordat, ACCORD, protocol, convention, contract, covenant, bargain, pledge;”

The Constitution uses the word ‘treaty’. So even if we could not understand the word ‘accord’ because it is French, as you suggest, at least the Constitution is written in English and the dictionary tells us that the Paris Accord meets the duck test (was this not a formally ratified agreement between countries?) and that ‘treaty’ is synonymous with both ‘agreement’ and ‘accord’.

The Paris Accord will supersede US law in 2020 like any treaty and as such is a treaty. In other words, local US companies, governments, and other entities within the US will not be able to change the treaty without the approval of an international body. Trump can’t even withdraw from the Accord right now. So what you are suggesting is that anytime a president wishes to override US law, they only need to sign on to an agreement with another country. That is dictatorship and the reason the constitution requires 2/3 of Senators present to concur. What’s so unreasonable about that?
