While I’m sure most people reading this are probably aware that frauds such as Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Alex Jones, and Matt Drudge are extremely wealthy individuals, I’m not sure if everyone realizes just how rich they made themselves largely based on pushing lies, propaganda, and conspiracies to naive Republican voters.
If you’re a con artist without any ethics, morals, or values who can bullshit with the best of them, you can become a very rich person by pandering to the paranoia and delusions of millions of conservative voters.
So, how much have these bottom-feeders made peddling conservative fan fiction? Well, here are the estimated net worths for Hannity, Limbaugh, Beck, Jones, and Drudge:
- Sean Hannity: $80 million
- Rush Limbaugh: $500 million
- Glenn Beck: $250 million
- Alex Jones: $10 million
- Matt Drudge: $150 million
While Jones’ $10 million is clearly dwarfed by the other four on that list, keep in mind that he’s still someone who’s made himself into a millionaire by claiming the government is using our water to turn people into homosexuals, Sandy Hook was a hoax, and Barack Obama is literally a demon who smells like sulfur.
Those five frauds alone, men who’ve built careers around pushing propaganda, lies, and misinformation to millions of conservatives, are worth nearly $1 billion combined.
That is absolutely mind-blowing to think about.
I’d also like to point out that not a single one of them graduated college. Not to say that having a college degree is the only way to judge intelligence, but I do think it says something that five of the more well-known figures in the conservative media all lack a college degree.
Meanwhile, people like Rachel Maddow, Jon Stewart, Joy Reid, and Jake Tapper all have degrees from Ivy League schools.
It’s like I joked with my editor the other day, we’re really in the wrong business. Since we care about facts, truth, and trying to actually help Americans and improve this country, we’ll never come close to making even a fraction of a percent of what these crooks make. It’s insane to sit here and realize those five individuals amassed that level of wealth, not by working hard to be honest with those who trust them for information, but by being frauds who do nothing but sell hate, fear, racism, bigotry, and pander to ignorance.
