Hillary Clinton Doesn’t Have to Apologize to Donald Trump for a Damn Thing

When I first heard that Donald Trump was demanding an apology from Hillary Clinton, I laughed. It’s absolutely ridiculous that someone who refuses to apologize for anything – no matter how offensive – would say that someone else owes him an apology.

Nonetheless, that’s what happened.

As most have probably heard by now, Trump is rather “offended” that Hillary Clinton said ISIS is using videos of his rhetoric to help recruit jihadists. In case you missed it, these were her exact words:

He is becoming ISIS’s best recruiter. They are going to people showing videos of Donald Trump insulting Islam and Muslims in order to recruit more radical jihadists.

When I first heard her say these words at the debate, it was fairly obvious to me that she was using hyperbole to emphasize how dangerous Trump’s anti-Muslim rhetoric is. Unfortunately, we live in a day and age where context too often seems to not matter, therefore fact-checkers and media pundits ran wild with her statement, declaring it “a lie” because there’s no proof that ISIS is using videos of Trump to recruit.

Again – hyperbole, context…ah, forget it. The fake outrage machine was already churning. After all, it’s a slow time of year for news so this gave “political experts” something to talk about.

Except, there’s just one problem – Clinton wasn’t lying.

Here are comments from earlier this month made by Rita Katz with the SITE Intelligence Group, a group that monitors the social media activities of terrorists:

“They love him [Trump] from the sense that he is supporting their rhetoric.”

“They follow everything Donald Trump says, When he says, ‘No Muslims should be allowed in America,’ they tell people, ‘We told you America hates Muslims and here is proof.'”

David Phillips, director for the Program on Peace-Building and Rights at Columbia University Institute for Study of Human rights, agrees.

“Trump’s incendiary anti-Muslim comments will surely be used by ISIS social media to demonize the United States and attract recruits to fight in Iraq and Syria,” Phillips said.

Oh, and the Pentagon also said that Trump’s rhetoric is making things more dangerous for Americans.

“Anything that creates tensions and creates the notion that the United States is at odds with the Muslim faith and Islam would be counterproductive to our efforts right now, and totally contrary to our values,” Pentagon press secretary Peter Cook said.

There are plenty of experts who monitor and study terrorism and national security who’ve said that Trump’s brand of anti-Muslim bigotry is being used by terrorists to recruit jihadists and is making this country less safe.

But I guess if you want to argue about the semantics of her literal words, as opposed to the factual context of what she was saying, then go right ahead – make yourself look like a fool. Defend Trump.

As for this absurd “demand” from Trump that Hillary Clinton apologize to him – he must be out of his damn mind.

This is a guy who’s called most Mexican immigrants rapists and criminals; disrespected a former POW and war veteran; has called women “dogs” and “fat pigs,”; mocked the physical disabilities of a reporter; and called for an all-out ban on Muslims entering the country – to just name a few of the incredibly offensive things he’s said and done – yet he refused to apologize for any of it. In fact, typically when he’s pushed to apologize he doubles down on his vile comments.

Oh, and did you see where he made an incredibly offensive and sexist comment (yes, another one) about Clinton losing in 2008? He used a penile reference usually uttered by teenage boys and grown idiots. Then he proceeded to call Clinton having to use the restroom “disgusting.” You know, because those are truly presidential comments.

But he wants an apology?

Sometimes I feel like I’m stuck in a really long nightmare and at any moment I’m going to wake up and be told Trump’s rise to the top of the GOP presidential ladder wasn’t real. Millions of Americans clearly couldn’t be this idiotic, could they?

Unfortunately, this isn’t any sort of bad dream. It’s really happening. I’m living in a time where millions of Americans look at a juvenile, blithering pathological liar like Donald Trump and say to themselves, “That’s the person I want leading our nation!”

Republicans really have become the party of stupid.
