Following the awkwardness of the second presidential debate, I really had no idea what to expect heading into the final face-to-face meeting between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump before the November 8th election. With Trump going full-on conspiracy theorist over the last couple of weeks, the only thing I really expected is for him to make an absolute mockery of the entire process — much like he did during the last debate.
Once again Hillary Clinton proved why she’s the only candidate in this race who’s qualified and mentally competent enough to be president.
I wouldn’t say she was aggressive, but she did seem to take more shots at Trump including calling him a puppet for Vladimir Putin and calling out the fact that he’s outsourced jobs to many countries despite his constant criticism of companies that do just that.
In true Clinton fashion, she was remarkably consistent, solid and well-spoken.
As far as Trump, he was exactly who he’s been this entire time — an unhinged, pathological liar who seems to live in a reality that only exists in the minds of himself and those who support him. It’s nearly impossible to fact check him because you can’t even finish debunking one of his lies before he’s told several more and called you a liar for debunking him.
Take for instance his lie about the State Department losing track of $6 billion — a claim that’s been soundly debunked for a while now.
He even pushed the ridiculous lie that President Obama and Clinton are paying people to cause violence at his rallies — a myth that’s being driven by right-wing conspiracy sites and blogs.
Then there’s his continued denial that he’s said and done things like mocking a disabled reporter, saying more countries should have nuclear weapons, that he never supported the Iraq War and claiming that some of the women accusing him of sexual assault aren’t attractive enough for him to have assaulted.
Oh, and let’s not forget his ridiculous claim that Clinton supports abortion “up until the last day” of a pregnancy. Yes, Trump literally claimed that Clinton supports “aborting” a baby on the delivery date. Because, you know, that’s not completely and totally ridiculous to say, let alone believe.
Maybe the most disgraceful part of the evening came when he basically said that the women accusing him of sexual assault/harassment are just looking for their “10 minutes of fame,” essentially saying all these women are liars sent by Clinton to slander him — it was absolutely disgusting. At this point, I have no idea how any women can support this bottom-feeding orange buffoon.
Toward the end of the debate when he was asked about Aleppo and his lie that Putin is helping to defeat ISIS, Trump even managed to turn that around and blame Clinton for that as well. You really can’t make this garbage up.
If tonight didn’t remind everyone why it’s vital we do everything we can to make damn sure Donald Trump doesn’t become our next president, I’m not sure what will. This was another shining example of a well-spoken, intelligent and mature woman trying to debate a man-child with the temperament of an unhinged toddler throwing a hissy fit.
While this election was already set to be one of the most important of our lifetimes, the dangers a “President Donald Trump” would present to this nation have made it even more crucial that we get out there to make damn sure this terrifying egomaniac doesn’t come anywhere near the White House.
