The main story on Monday centered around disgraced former congressman Anthony Weiner getting caught (again) sending sexually explicit pictures to someone who wasn’t his wife. While I find his behavior appalling, what I really found disgusting was how many within the media somehow tried to twist this into a story about Huma Abedin becoming a “political liability” for Hillary Clinton — because her husband is a creep.
Excuse my language, but this is such sexist, double-standard bullshit.
So, let me get this straight. Because a woman’s husband is a pathetic adulterer who can’t control his sexual urges, that makes her a political liability?
Oh, I’m sorry, did she not do her best to fulfill her wedding vows to some sex-crazed pervert until she finally reached a point where she was no longer going to let someone treat her that way, announcing over the weekend that she’s leaving her husband?
How terrible of her!
Then there are people like Donald Trump who, along with the media, somehow tried to claim that Anthony Weiner’s behavior is a sign of Hillary Clinton’s bad judgement.
Are you freaking kidding me?
First, the Clintons know Anthony Weiner — he’s not working for Hillary’s campaign. So, this asinine push by Trump suggesting that Anthony Weiner’s behavior is somehow a national security risk because Hillary Clinton could have possibly shown him something classified (even though there’s no evidence whatsoever to remotely back any of that up) is absolutely preposterous. It shows how desperate Trump is getting that he actually managed to twist Anthony Weiner’s sexting into an issue pertaining to Clinton’s emails.
Just — wow.
And forgive me if I laughed a little bit at the thought of an adulterer who’s often talked about the attractiveness of his own daughter’s body judging the sexual exploits of someone else. While I completely agree that Anthony Weiner is a scumbag, Trump certainly isn’t someone who’s in any position to judge anyone based upon his own behavior and comments about women.
What I witnessed on Monday was appalling. Anthony Weiner is a cheating pile of trash who apparently lacks any semblance of self-control, so according to many within the media, his behavior somehow reflects badly upon Abedin and who she is as a person — opening her up as a potential “political liability” to the Clinton campaign.
Can someone answer this question for me: How does a husband cheating make a damn bit of difference over whether or not a skilled and competent woman can be an extremely valuable resource to a presidential candidate, and how do his actions remotely have anything to do with who she is as a person?
It’s ludicrous how most of the media’s attention wasn’t on bashing the cheating jackass who can’t seem to stop sexting random women he meets on social media, it was on Huma Abedin and Hillary Clinton and how his behavior is somehow reflective upon them. Most of the media was really trying to turn Anthony Weiner’s actions into a “Clinton campaign story” even though what he did has absolutely nothing to do with Clinton’s campaign or Huma Abedin’s ability to do her job.
The only person who should be viewed or talked about negatively over this situation is Anthony Weiner. It’s absolutely pathetic that so many people within the media, and the low-life adulterer Donald Trump, did their best to project the shameful behavior of a man to negatively criticize two women who had absolutely nothing to do with his actions.
Please, tell me more about how sexism no longer exists.
