Imagine How Republicans Would Act if Obama’s First Term Was Just Like Bush’s

bush-mission-accomplishedRepublicans are beside themselves.  They’re “shocked” that President Obama still remains in the White House after their made up Benghazi “scandal” backfired, and now there’s this IRS situation—which the President has come out and quickly denounced (and had nothing to do with).

Who cares if neither of these issues warrants an impeachment, Republicans are beginning to demand that the subject be mentioned.  To them, Obama has been the worst, and most corrupt, President in United States history.

It’s easy to see why they feel this way: they watch Fox News.  That entire network builds its platform on “Obama is scary because…”

Then the thought came into my head, “What if Obama’s first 4 years were almost identical to George W. Bush’s first 4 years?”

Just imagine if during President Obama’s first term:

  • His very first election, he’s “elected” President when the United States Supreme Court overrules Florida’s Supreme Court call for a statewide recount, thus becoming President of the United States—even though he lost the popular vote.
  • 8 months after he took office we experienced the worst terrorist attack in United States history, and there was solid evidence presented that he had intelligence saying that a terrorist group was planning on attack on United States soil—but did nothing.
  • Video was shown of his reaction to being told that the United States was under attack, and he sat there for a few minutes with a blank look on his face—doing nothing.
  • Our economy went from a balanced budget, and a budget surplus, back to deficits—every year he had been President.
  • The longest period of economic growth in American history—came to an end.
  • We started a war with Iraq.  About 2 months after the start of the war he then decided to land on an aircraft carrier (in a flight suit) to declare “Mission Accomplished.”  Yet 2 years later, over 2,000 American soldiers had died and not a single weapon of mass destruction had been found.
  • 4 years after the 9/11 attack, Osama bin Ladin had still not been captured.
  • Reports, and photos, of abuse by the U.S. Army against Iraqi prisoners surfaces at the Abu Ghraib prison.
  • We saw 5 different attacks on American embassies.
  • Attorney General John Ashcroft appears before the Senate Judiciary Committee to discuss the first leaked pieces coming to light of communication within the intelligence community about the authorization of torture on prisoners of war to extract information (Bush later admitted he authorized torture and would do it again).
  • Told Iraqi insurgents to “Bring it on.”

And that’s not even everything.  Those are just a few “bullet points” from Bush’s first 4 years as President.

Just imagine if President Obama did all of that—what would the likes of Fox News, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh be saying? How many investigations and impeachment hearings would Republicans be calling for?

If they’re “shocked” by some of the events that have occurred during Obama’s first 4 years, most of which had nothing to do with President Obama and were completely right-wing fabricated controversies, just imagine what they would be like if Obama pulled the same kind of crap Bush did in his first 4 years.

But we all know how they reacted to Bush’s antics.  They weren’t appalled, shocked, or disgusted and they never called for an impeachment—oh, no…

They re-elected him.

  • -Over 60 people died from 13 embassy/consulate attacks under Bush. Where was the outrage over that?
-The nonpartisan Accountability Review Board did not find Hillary Clinton responsible for Benghazi. She did not receive the cables.
-The biggest security failure, 9/11/2001, happened under a Republican administration.
-Hillary’s comment, “what difference, at this point, does it make” was referring to the GOP’s obsession with what was said on the Sunday morning talk shows. It was not referring to the deaths of these 4 Americans.
-Republicans in Congress cut MILLIONS in embassy security.
-The Obama Administration did not lie to the American people, they simply told us what the intelligence community told them and Congress. The intelligence community was wrong. Now we know. At least we weren’t lied into another war based on false intelligence!

Benghazi is a case of fake outrage and a witch hunt against Hillary Clinton. Why weren’t the Republicans outraged over 9/11/2001? Why weren’t Republicans outraged over the deaths from the unnecessary Iraq War? Why weren’t Republicans outraged over the 13 embassies that were attacked (and 60 people that died) under George Bush?

The fact is, our embassies will never be 100% secure. We’ve had 20 Accountability Review Boards since 1988 because security overseas is never a perfect science. This is not the first embassy attack, nor will it be the last.

    • Because all these facts don’t matter to the entire Republican Party. And the entire clueless media are going along for the ride.

      • Erica

Facts in general do not matter to the Republicans. 🙂

      • Reality in general doesn’t matter to the Republcians.

    • Carol Maclaskey

…and the facility in Benghazi wasn’t an embassy. It was essentially a CIA “safehouse” and to focus too much on that facility in those first confusing days (when the CIA was writing the talking points) would have meant compromising secret operations there. The Ambassador loved Libya and felt very comfortable with it’s people. He often travelled around (against advice from all sides) with nothing more than a backpack.

  • Vera Donato

They also voted to raise the debt ceiling numerous times for Bush and that was long before most of the American public ever even heard of “the debt ceiling.”

  • k9gardner

Actually, no — WE re-elected him.

    • thr33phas3

No, “WE” didn’t. I sure didn’t vote for him.

      • Lynnette

YES “WE” DID!! You didn’t have to, more people voted for him than not!! That is why he is our President, like it or not!! We had to endure Bush/Cheney, which I might add(since so many seem to forget) left our country in a terrible mess!!

      • korhal

That’s what happens when people are brainwashed by warmongerers – they do dumb things, like elect Republicans.

      • noooooooooooooooooooooooo Less people voted for him than didn’t. He LOST the popular vote–and Florida gave him the Electoral College votes to win. A vote placed by the Florida Sec of State BEFORE the recounts, and then followed by a Supreme Court ruling, that later the jurors would regret.

    • suburbancuurmudgeon

“What do you mean, WE, paleface?”

      • k9gardner

As you might expect, suburbancurmudgeon and thr33phas3, I mean “we, the people.” The fact that it was even a close contest was alarming, and a sign that so many of us have lost a firm footing in reality.

  • Obama blows

You guys are mental..liberals man..crazy guys are all blind..and suck the tit of one of the worst presidents in history..bush was in office how long ago …obama has done what….nothing..smh wake up and cover up..more like busted..he so not out of the woods and whoever wrote this page is high as hell and clearly dosn’t do her research..

    • What are the inaccuracies in this article?

      • Rose

He won’t answer you. Lol That’s what they do. If you have ever watched Fox News me alike you start to notice a pattern.

      • SP2912

he won’t have an answer unless it is more dribble… you noticed he listed not one FACT

      • speakoutforscience

You also notice he can’t write or spell!

      • PitoDaddy

I’ve given up on trying to reach these habitual GOP voters…they reject all factual information that does not fit inside their ideological box of right wing brain wash trinkets.

      • suburbancuurmudgeon

        No inaccuracies.

    • glebec

Bush did horrendous long term damage to this country. The fact that time has passed does not make it Obama’s damage. It just proves how terrible the damage done was. The GOP is fighting to prevent Obama from solving problems – and we know that. That just doubles how guilty Bush and the GOP are.

    • D

and where are your facts, “obama blows”? What do you have to say these things aren’t correct?

And it’s actually a male who wrote this “Allen Clifton is from the Dallas-Forth Worth area and has a degree in Political Science. He is the founder of the popular Facebook page “Right Off A Cliff,” on which he routinely voices his opinions and stirs the pot for the Progressive movement. His work has been featured on many sites online, and on Current TV’s popular “The Young Turks” program.”

    • korhal

These are all well-documented facts. If you can point out discrepancies, feel free.

    • Ralph Prescott

How do I install “Ad hominem Block” into my browser?

    • MTNNEN

What are you talking about? Instead of saying this page is wrong howabout you list why. You have given the typical Republican answer to anything political. No facts given just an opinion saying its wrong. You are yet another waste of breath.

    • Moron Hater

Just by looking at how poor your grammer is, I’ve already decided you aren’t worth entertaining. On top of that, everything on this page is FACT. If you actually made the effort and weren’t so ignorant, you’d never defend Bush.

    • …they took ‘er jobs.

    • This is not close to intelligent, nor is it factually accurate in any way, shape or form. Retort with proper spelling and facts to back up your work to be reviewed by peers……OR SHUT THE FUCK UP!

    • David Rutawitz

you would know a lot about blowjobs wouldnt you

    • Paul Davidson

Obviously, he didn’t do his research. This article was written by a man. Once again a Republican blaming women for the bad in the world.

  • Vlow11

    Two words. Racist bastards

    • Not all Republicans are bastards. There are female republicans

      • Baaly

        And females can’t be illegitimate?

  • Erica

Perhaps their strategy is to make Obama seem as bad as Bush, so that next election the Dems don’t look like a pure-er party.

    • Bill

That may be their plan, but they are failing it, THANKFULLY.

  • Not just the media, but John Mccain, palin and John Boner.

  • when are we gonna move on and start fixing AMERICA tho…… this is SLOWING EVERYTHING UP….. 1 and half more yrs until REPs get the BOOT….. congress is finna be GUTTED OUT

  • i always want to agree with the liberals when they bash bush, except that they always bring it back to, “and obama is so much better because…”

just like i always want to agree with the conservatives when they bash obama, except that they always bring it back to, “and bush was so much better because…”

can’t you people see they’re two sides of the same coin? bush created the patriot act, obama extended it. bush opened gitmo, obama won’t close it. bush started the wars, obama kept them going. bush started the drone program, obama expanded it…

republican, democrat, conservative, liberal, tea-party, progressive… none of these divisions matter. the men in power are the puppets of the money men. nothing will change until we can see the real problem, that all of us, our politicians included, are bought and sold like cattle.

    • I Once Was Andrew

Agreed. Obama’s main selling point to me (and, I’m guessing, many of the other people who voted for him) is that he’s less bad than the Republican alternative. But that’s not saying a lot. When are we going to get to the point in this country where we have a choice besides Totally Awful and Medium Awful?

      • Medium Awful? Really? Considering the circumstances I think he’s been a good president. There’s a huge difference between Dems and Repubs. Cons and Libs. Only someone who’s afraid to take a stand against one side or the other would passively say both sides are equally to blame which in turn makes it that much easier for people to support the party that is more to blame.

      • “Only someone who’s afraid to take a stand against one side or the other would passively say both sides are equally to blame”

        This does not logically follow.

      • suburbancuurmudgeon

Both sides share the blame, but the Republican share is disproportionately large.

  • “Mission accomplished!” lol

  • I agree with this piece. However, I would like to see you research this a bit more and expand it. Great piece, great comments!

  • Republicans AND Democrats are all a bunch of lying, thieving jackasses, who care only for themselves and nothing for the people that are supposed to serve.

    • suburbancuurmudgeon

There are far more Republicans that fit your description.

      • Yeah, keep telling yourself that.

      • thr33phas3

        It’s a fact after all!

      • Brian Buchanan

“What difference does it make?” Nuff said.

      • thr33phas3

Yup, it tells me that the Republicans have successfully managed to convince you to disenfranchise yourself. Awesome! 🙂

      • Brian Buchanan

just keep drinking that kool aid sunshine…

      • Three Phased

Your “Kool aid” appears to be on track to keep you from voting. Enjoying it?

      • Brian Buchanan

I didn’t vote for the traitorous muslim in chief….but I would bet you did, twice.

    Remembering Obama.

    – Remember whe Obama said “You didn’t build that.”

    – Rember Reverand Wright – “You cannot do terrorism on other people and expect it never to come back on you.”

    – Rember when Obama tells Medvedev: “This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility.” on the sticky issue of building a missile defense system in Europe.

    – Rember when Obama said “It’s like — it was like Special Olympics, or something.” responding to a question about his shoddy bowling game.

    – Remember when Obama said “I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

    – Remember his faith “What I was suggesting — you’re absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith…” — Obama on ABC’s This Week.

    – Remember when Obama suggested that working-class Americans are bitter about their economic circumstances, Obama later said his remarks could have been phrased better.

    – Remember plagiarism. “Don’t tell me words don’t matter … ‘I have a dream.’ Just words. ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.’ Just words. ‘We have nothing to fear but fear itself.’ Just words. Just speeches.” — Obama had “borrowed” that part of his speech from Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick.

    – Remember the Boeing 747s used by Obama and an F-16 jet circled the Statue of Liberty at the start of the work day, startling workers in lower Manhattan who feared a nightmarish replay of the 2001 terrorist attacks.

    – Remember Obama running around for two years as a candidate when the unemployment was 5% saying we have the worst economy in 70 years ?

    – Remember Obama traveled to Denmark to lobby for Chicago’s Olympic bid?

    – Remember when Obama said unemployment would not go beyond 8% if his “stimulus plan” was passed?

    – Remember Obama promoted “Summer Recovery Tour”?

    – Remember Obama ordered that the Guantanamo Bay military prison camp be closed within a year.

    – Remember Obama claimed he’s in charge the oil spill since “day one” ?

    – Remember Obama said “I will not add 1 DIME to the debt?

    – Remember Shovel ready jobs?

    – Remember 535 million dollars for Solyndra to create approximately 4000 jobs?

    – Remember Obama let AG Eric Holder announced that The terrorists would be tried in fed court in NY without consulting the FBI or NYPD.

    – Remember Obama said Cambridge Mass Police acted “stupidly” while acknowledge he did not know “all the facts”.

    – Remember Obama said he opposed the AZ’s immigration law but then admitted he had not read it.

    – Remember Obama used the word ‘enemy’ for fellow Americans, fellow citizens. He used it for people who disagree with his agenda of bigger government.

    – Remember A123 Systems who was given 249 million dollars of tax payer money and now they are bankrupt.

    – Remember Fast and Furious – not many people do, they are making it disappear.

    – Remember Benghazi, remember the 4 Americans killed in Benghazi, remember them?

    – Remember when Obama was elected to a second term on Nov. 6th and the Stock Market plunged 313 points on Nov. 7th. The single worst day in a year.

    – Remember Triple A credit

    • Jimmy Z Williams

Yes, and you’ve obviously remembered how to take anything Obama says out of context, and twisted some facts around to your argument. Let me rephrase it for you “I don’t like him.” There. 4 simple words instead of paragraphs of distortion.

      • Donkey Kong

Nothing was distorted, those are quotes and factual events. Yes, you’re right, I am not an Obama fan. Wonder why…IRS, AP, and Benghazi.

      • Marty

Now that the IRS thing has been shown to be a complete fabrication by Issa, I imagine your opinion has not changed?

Also, before your comment Benghazi had been addressed a dozen times by others and in this very article.

I’m hardly a big Obama fan, but come on.

      • Benjamin Spider

You might want to look up the word “context”, because you clearly don’t have the full picture.

    • JackLinks

Donkey Kong, Where did you learn how to spell?
You wrote the word “remember” six times and spelled it correctly 3 times!

  • TGI

Wow.. Seems like a Democrat Fuck Party here…. This is so far left, it hurts just to read this. And this is coming from a transgender person. O.O

    • Chuck

If your looking for a negative comment due to you being transgender you probably will have to go to a predominantly (R) website, we are not that type of people…

  • Papa_Neslo

Imagine if Obama’s Secretary of Defense said “we go to war with the army we have, not with the army we need.” And then troops died by the thousands after making that statement. Imagine that.

    Benghazi would be nothing.

  • “Video was shown of his reaction to being told that the United States was
under attack, and he sat there for a few minutes with a blank look on
    his face—doing nothing.”

    Asinine comment based upon emotion.

I prefer Obama over GW Bush but the writer of this article is spewing knee-jerk rhetoric.

We do not know what GW Bush was thinking but thinking he was.

Seconds or even minutes did not count.

I would rather have a leader who thought first unlike a writer spewing froth.

Worthless article by what I view as an amateur childish writer.

    • CiriticalThinkingBeing

“We do not know what GW Bush was thinking but thinking he was.”

You cannot assume he was thinking. Thinking is a subjective phenomenon and cannot be measured objectively. The expression on his face could indicate he was thinking, but it could have just as easily indicate a bowel movement was taking place.

  • DidilovesUSA

He sat there with a blank look on his face???? He was in a classroom with children! You’re gonna have to dig a little deeper. Imagine if Benghazi, Ap scandal, IRS scandal had happened under Bush’s presidency…he’d be lynched!

  • Michael Siever

Obama would have been subpoenaed by Darrell Issa 100 times in 4 years, and possibly impeached at least 20 times.

  • Guest

George Bush is directly responsible for more American deaths that Osama bin Laden, as a result of the completely unjustified war on Iraq. There is just no getting around that.

  • Ogri

I met and sat next to a man on a Trans European fligh who knew Obama very well indeed, he had travelled with him 24/7 all over the USA during his first election Campaign and seen him at first hand, in private as well as public. He told me that he was concerned for the USA as Obama was not a nice human being at all, and that he could not be trusted in terms of honesty and decency… he could not stress to me how much he disliked the man and his person! (His words and a lot more). Over the years since that flight which lasted about 2 hours, during which we chatted all the time about this, I had been waiting for chinks of lighrt in the Obama Armour! And we are now seeing the this come out in the full glare of publicity of his deeds, actions and words. I wont tell the rest of what I know as I would not want to damage the informant in any way, but it was not nice!

  • Ogri

And btw – at first I was very doubtful of this mans assesment as I too had been fooled by Obama’s Propaganda Personality, that I was influenced by an intense dislike of George W Bush, who I found ignorant and lacking in intellector intelligence, and a War criminal, I wanted Obama to be a Good President…. I know different now…!
