Don’t get me wrong, I am by no means a fan of Jeb Bush. I don’t hate the guy, but I definitely wouldn’t want to see him become president. However, I did feel a little sorry for him during the Republican primary considering Donald Trump made him look like a complete fool for months. Not that it’s very difficult to make someone from the Bush family look foolish, but Jeb was simply overmatched when it came to trying to trade insults with someone like Trump who was simply much better at it than he was.
The truth is, while I don’t agree with him on much, Bush is much more qualified than Trump to be president — and it’s not even close. The thought of Donald Trump being in charge of this nation is terrifying. While I have no doubt Bush would have been a disaster as president, Trump doesn’t have the slightest clue what the hell he’s doing. He is, by far, the most woefully unqualified candidate to win a major party’s political nomination in our country’s history.
However, Trump’s success as a politician has been predicated almost entirely on lies. Unlike any politician I’ve ever seen before, Trump’s lies, at times, are so outrageous that it’s comical (and sobering) to realize that there are millions of people in this country stupid enough to believe him.
That’s essentially what Jeb Bush said during an interview with NBC News where he told Trump supporters exactly what they need to hear.
“The tragedy of this, though, is that there isn’t going to be a wall built. And Mexico’s not going to pay for it. And there’s not going to be a ban on Muslims,” Bush said. “This is all like a alternative universe that he created.”
“The reality is, that’s not going to happen. And people are going to be deeply frustrated and the divides will grow in our country,” he added. “And this extraordinary country, still the greatest country on the face of the earth, will continue to stagger instead of soar. And that’s the heartbreaking part of this, is I think people are really going to feel betrayed.”
Yet during almost every speech he gives, Donald Trump continually states that he’s going to build a “big beautiful wall” — that he knows will never happen. Though I’m sure if he were to get elected and the wall was never built, Trump will never take the blame. What he’ll do is point the finger at Congress, Republicans and anyone and everyone but himself for this ridiculous wall never being built.
Then there’s also his proposed ban on Muslims that would never become a reality because Congress would never let it happen.
However, despite the fact that I think even he knows practically everything he says is unrealistic, that doesn’t stop Trump from lying to the millions of mindless sheep who are gullible enough to believe his endless stream of bullshit.
While I don’t often praise him, I’ll give Jeb Bush credit for saying exactly what Trump’s supporters need to hear, even if it’s highly unlikely that many (if any) will actually believe him.
