John Boehner’s Latest Move Proves Just How Delusional Republicans Are About Benghazi

boehner-obamacareAnyone who follows politics knows that Republicans have been doing just about everything they can the last two years to turn the attack on our embassy in Benghazi into some massive calamity of failures that would ultimately point to incompetence and conspiracies emanating from the Obama administration, including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (also a likely 2016 presidential nominee).

There’s just one slight problem: Their conspiracies continue to get debunked at every turn.

The first major blow to the right-wing driven propaganda about the attack came almost a year ago when a bipartisan report from a U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence more or less debunked all their ridiculous conspiracy theories.

But that didn’t deter the conservative Benghazi conspiracy machine, it just kept on chugging away.

Well, as many of you might have heard by now, the Republican-led House Intelligence Committee just released a report from their investigation that found no evidence of any wrongdoing, conspiracies or coverup by the Obama administration concerning the attack.

Again, let me make sure to emphasize that this was a Republican-led House Intelligence Committee report.

Now one would think that this would finally put an end to this nonsense. Two separate reports, nearly a year apart from one another, essentially saying the same thing – that these conspiracy theories are absolutely unfounded.

But we all should have known better. After all, when have Republicans let reality or facts get in the way of their propaganda?

First it was Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) who said the Republican-led investigation was “full of crap.”

Now it’s Speaker of the House John Boehner who announced that he’s planning to “reappoint” members to a special Benghazi panel in the new Congress.

This is where one would do the obligatory “facepalm.”

“On September 11, 2012, four Americans were killed in a brutal terrorist attack in Libya. Two years later, the American people still have far too many questions about what happened that night and why,” Boehner said. “That’s why I will reappoint Rep. Trey Gowdy and the Republican members of the House Select Committee to investigate the events in Benghazi in the 114th Congress. I look forward to the definitive report Chairman Gowdy and the Select Committee will present to the American people.”

Yes, some Americans have “far too many questions” because the GOP, and the conservative media, have been pushing lies about the attack for over two years. Not only that, but Fox News barely even covered the latest Republican-led investigation that debunked the countless lies that network has been pushing about the attack since 2012.

The truth remains that Republicans aren’t going to let this go until after the 2016 elections. They’re determined to do anything they can to keep Benghazi “a story” with the faint hope that their fear-mongering and lies will have a negative impact on Hillary Clinton’s presidential hopes.

Because that’s all any of this is really about.
