John Boehner’s Latest Move Proves Just How Delusional Republicans Are About Benghazi

boehner-obamacareAnyone who follows politics knows that Republicans have been doing just about everything they can the last two years to turn the attack on our embassy in Benghazi into some massive calamity of failures that would ultimately point to incompetence and conspiracies emanating from the Obama administration, including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (also a likely 2016 presidential nominee).

There’s just one slight problem: Their conspiracies continue to get debunked at every turn.

The first major blow to the right-wing driven propaganda about the attack came almost a year ago when a bipartisan report from a U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence more or less debunked all their ridiculous conspiracy theories.

But that didn’t deter the conservative Benghazi conspiracy machine, it just kept on chugging away.

Well, as many of you might have heard by now, the Republican-led House Intelligence Committee just released a report from their investigation that found no evidence of any wrongdoing, conspiracies or coverup by the Obama administration concerning the attack.

Again, let me make sure to emphasize that this was a Republican-led House Intelligence Committee report.

Now one would think that this would finally put an end to this nonsense. Two separate reports, nearly a year apart from one another, essentially saying the same thing – that these conspiracy theories are absolutely unfounded.

But we all should have known better. After all, when have Republicans let reality or facts get in the way of their propaganda?

First it was Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) who said the Republican-led investigation was “full of crap.”

Now it’s Speaker of the House John Boehner who announced that he’s planning to “reappoint” members to a special Benghazi panel in the new Congress.

This is where one would do the obligatory “facepalm.”

“On September 11, 2012, four Americans were killed in a brutal terrorist attack in Libya. Two years later, the American people still have far too many questions about what happened that night and why,” Boehner said. “That’s why I will reappoint Rep. Trey Gowdy and the Republican members of the House Select Committee to investigate the events in Benghazi in the 114th Congress. I look forward to the definitive report Chairman Gowdy and the Select Committee will present to the American people.”

Yes, some Americans have “far too many questions” because the GOP, and the conservative media, have been pushing lies about the attack for over two years. Not only that, but Fox News barely even covered the latest Republican-led investigation that debunked the countless lies that network has been pushing about the attack since 2012.

The truth remains that Republicans aren’t going to let this go until after the 2016 elections. They’re determined to do anything they can to keep Benghazi “a story” with the faint hope that their fear-mongering and lies will have a negative impact on Hillary Clinton’s presidential hopes.

Because that’s all any of this is really about.

And in the meantime we can’t have nice things. Like full budgets, Immigration reform, fair pay, etc.

Besides money, by the House repubs insisting that THEIR Benghazi probe be repeated again and again and again and……

Aren’t they admitting that they are incompetent fools who can’t conduct a simple investigation ????

Each time their questions are answered, they simply change tthe questions. Now they are at a point that they don’t know what the questions they want answered are , they are treating this like everything else they complain about , ” Obama is taking out rights away ” what rights? “We need to impeach Obama” on what charges? They don’t know the answers to theses questions because no one has told them the answers.

If they are obsessed with Benghazi, they won’t be fucking anything else up. Bring on the investigations.

    • Marilyn Olsen Scheffler

And YOU know this HOW? Then why in the hell did the republicans have this committee in the first place and spend the money they did on this investigation if there Is NEVER going to be satisfied. Hopefully you are just an ignorant troll and will go away quietly.

Experience. In the ’90s, the Republicans were so obsessed with nailing Clinton that they forgot to lower taxes on the rich. Thus, the economy boomed, at least until they regained the White House, and we had a period of prosperity and relative peace.

  • Marilyn Olsen Scheffler

There is no explanation that can ever be given that will satisfy these people! They are determined to make it an issue even if it’s to the detriment of the people that they have pledged to work for. I’m sick of them and their antics!

And sadly, those people will buy it.

  • Fred Macarthur

They think they can win a presidential election on fears and lies so they are trying to keep these false conspiracies going.

    • mikebank

Well, they did pretty well with the fears and lies back in Nov.

      • RayandFannie Esparza

Fred was talking about the President’ race…..

This Benghazi nonsense will go the same way the Ebola nonsense went. Ever since the day after the midterms, I’ve seen not one, single conservative say anything at all about Ebola being brought to America by ISIS, or the President, or anyone else, yet leading up to the election, that seemed to be the only thing they could talk about.

  • boblgumm

I think us libs are playing this all wrong. DEMOCRATS should form multiple congressional Benghazi investigation committees and turn them into even more kabuki-esque theater than the republican committees have been. They could bring in testimony from the likes of Andy Borowitz and the Onion for expert opinion. Victory in 2016 would be assured.

I say let them keep focusing on Benghazi as it will continue to tear the GOP apart. The GOP may have won big in the mid-term elections, but two more year of NOTHING but Benghazi, gay marriage & abortion WILL help end the GOP. Their base is aging & the Tea Party will continue to split the GOP.

  • Marilyn Olsen Scheffler

Of course!! He is a turd of the first water! How about worrying about all of the things that need to be addressed that he and his cohorts have farted around with and DONE NOTHING to help! All he wants to do is try to throw even MORE mud on Obama and his administration! I would think he would be embarrassed by the stuff he does but apparently he doesn’t know the meaning of looking like a fool.

Good thing the GOP is for not wasting money…Oh well, good thing the Chinese have big bucks to lend especially to the US of A…
