Jon Stewart was on his game last night. He started his show by mocking three likely GOP presidential candidates (Mitt Romney, Chris Christie, Lindsey Graham) which was absolutely hilarious. First he poked fun at how Mitt Romney keeps running for public office despite the fact that he almost always loses, then he hammered Chris Christie for New Jersey’s terrible economic numbers. Finally, he ended the segment by calling Lindsey Graham delusional for even suggesting that he might run in 2016.
But the best part of the show came during his second segment when he addressed the apologies Fox News publicly issued on Saturday after the network was exposed and humiliated internationally for doing what they’ve been doing in the United States for years – blatantly making up information and lying.
“But very little that Fox has ever said has shocked me as much as what I saw last Saturday,” Stewart said.
He then showed several clips of various Fox News personalities publicly apologizing for allow these “errors” to go unchallenged.
“I’ll be damned,” Stewart said with a stunned look on his face.
“How bad does bullsh*t have to smell before the odor is detected by people who live on a mountain made out of that substance,” he mocked.
Then he showed the clip where this supposed “expert” rambled on about mythical “no-go” zones in Birmingham, England where non-Muslims simply don’t go. Stewart joked that this must be shocking news for the “78 percent of Birmingham residents who are not Muslim” to hear that their town has been taken over by Islam.
The funny thing is, Fox News was just doing what they normally do every single day here in the United States, only this time they got busted for being dishonest on a global scale. That’s why they’ve not only had to issue these apologies – but they’re now being sued by the city of Paris for damaging their image and honor.
Fox News is built on a foundation of lies and propaganda. I don’t even considering it a news network, it’s just conservative entertainment television. Anyone who honestly considers Fox News “fair and balanced” is absolutely delusional.
But it’s entertaining nonetheless to see a fairly decent amount of controversy swirling around Fox News within the global community – even reaching all the way to the British Prime Minister – for essentially just being exactly what they are. They’re a network that’s not at all concerned about the truth, facts or reality – they just care about pushing an agenda and spreading whatever misinformation they can, hoping that enough people will believe whatever nonsense they’re spewing.
And while it’s unlikely that Fox News getting exposed on such a large scale will have any impact on how conservatives view the network, it’s still nice to see other countries take notice as to just how terrible Fox News really is.
