Latest Poll Shows it Might Be Impossible for the GOP to Rid Themselves of Donald Trump

donald-trump-jon-stewart-2While they only have themselves to blame, the Republican party is in a whole lot of trouble right now. After all the years of fear-mongering, hate-filled rhetoric and propaganda, it’s all finally collapsing upon them. The truth of the matter is the only reason Donald Trump is their current (and overwhelming) presidential frontrunner is because the GOP and the right-wing media created the perfect environment for such a candidate to rise to that position.

Now many of them are coming to a harsh reality check: There’s nothing they can really do about it. Trump has called most Mexican immigrants rapists, he’s insulted a war veteran and gotten into a very sexist back and forth with Fox News’ Megyn Kelly – yet his numbers continue to climb.

A newly released poll from Morning Consult now shows Trump’s lead over the rest of the Republican field has climbed seven points following the first debate where Fox News was clearly trying to target the real estate mogul with the hopes of killing some of his momentum.

I think this has all reached a point where the only thing that can stop Trump is Trump himself – which is still very likely to happen. If I were advising Republicans, I would simply tell them to just focus on themselves and their campaigns and let Trump eventually self-implode. As much as I’m thoroughly enjoying seeing Trump wreak havoc within the Republican party, I know it’s just a matter of time before he pushes things too far.

But even with Trump’s likely self-sabotage coming sometime in the future, that doesn’t negate what his surge in popularity has exposed about the Republican party.

What does it say about a good chunk of the Republican party when Donald Trump could ever be your presidential frontrunner? That in and of itself is just flat-out embarrassing. Then when you factor in the things he’s said and done to become that front-runner – it’s just sad and pathetic.

It was one thing when he bashed Mexican immigrants; I’m not sure if anyone was really all that surprised to see his numbers climb following those comments, as sad as that is to say. But since then he’s mocked John McCain’s war record and made several disparaging and sexist remarks about women. Hell, he even called Megyn Kelly a “bimbo” following the debate on Thursday to go along with his “blood from wherever” comment that most everyone has heard about by now.

Yet, despite all of that – and despite many claiming he “lost” the debate – this poll shows that he actually managed to increase his lead over his rivals.

While this is only one poll, it wouldn’t surprise me at all to see more showing Trump with a widening lead or holding his ground. I think this solidifies my belief that the only person who can “take down Trump” – is Trump. There’s really nothing these other candidates can say or do that’s going to make any difference to those conservatives who are supporting him. And while I think Trump will eventually implode, Republicans will forever have to live with the reality that for a decent amount of time, Donald Trump was their party’s overwhelming frontrunner for their presidential nomination.

The charred, rubble filled cities with hoards of pot addled homogays clanging their knives together because Obama stole all of their guns clamoring for the blood of Christians is proof enough that Obama destroyed the country. Thank you for your truth filled and poignant post.

If he were elected, he would have the legislative branch to deal with… Of course the Dems would be agin him….Not thinking that a heck of a lot of Repubs would be firmly on his side, either…

No unless he buys his own country.

    • Ellen H.

I doubt it. The republicans most likely won’t nominate him. That will probably go to either Bush or Fiorina. However, Trump has said he will run as an independent if he has to. He would most likely have the Roosevelt or Perot effect, splitting the voters who identify as republican.

      • Hillary

Not if he identifies how we are being scr#wed by the “free trade deals.” And Fiorina is a loser, the Hewlett and Packard families wrote a good oped in the SF Chronicle in 2010. Bush’s poll #s stink and no one likes shifty eyes Walker.

        Pay attention “.

  • MacDoodle

Donalds tax plan just makes sense……”My 5-part tax plan involves reforming the income tax. The government
confiscates way too much of your paycheck. The tax code is also a very
complicated system that forces Americans to waste 6.1 billion hours a
year trying to figure it out.

    What does
that tell you? It tells me that it’s time we restore simplicity & sanity to the income tax. Here’s my income tax plan:

Up to $30,000, you pay 1%

    From $30,000 to $100,000, you pay 5%

From $100,000 to $1 million, you pay 10%

    On $1 million
or above, you pay 15%It’s clear and fair. Best of all, it can
be filled out on the back of a postcard and will save Americans big
bucks on accountants and massive amounts of time wasted attempting to
    decipher the tax code.

    Our country is hungry
for real tax reform. That’s why we should implement the 1-5-10-15 income
tax plan. And we need to enact [the rest of] my 5-part tax policy: kill
    the death tax; lower the tax on capital gains & dividends;
eliminate corporate taxes; and a 20% import tax.”

    • Matt Schaum

And then explain where the money to fund half of the required pieces of government come from. I file 0 and pay about 22.5-23.6% income tax. I understand the role I play. Could I accept dropping it to 20? Sure. When you drop taxes to much, the money still needs to come from somewhere.
If you wanted to regulate a national sales tax, I’d be for that no issue. Get rid of the death tax, sure. Capitol gajns, not a problem. Income taxes are not difficult if you take 20-30 minutes to read.

What the terrifying simpleton Mr. Trump actually seems to
not get re bringing Mfg jobs back to America—-as if it were simply about
tough negotiations with governments, i.e. China……IS this would require trashing The NAFTA and going back to the drawing board.

The NAFTA OPENED THE DOOR FOR THE INFINITE Exploitation of cheap labor all thru the world! I am sure, including by MR. TRUMP. Meaning, American Mfg., from Henry Ford on….PAYING DECENT WAGES WITH decent BENEFITS gestating upward mobility….could no longer compete and had to….OUTSORCE! And STILL DOES!!! Which is the reason the planned domestic automotive factory Mr. Trump used as his typically specious example…..will end up in MEXICO.

Why not one member of the media or one political operative raised
this simple truth during or after Mr. Trump’s last dog and pony show teeming
with false promises and platitudes. ….AS IF THE ISSUES WERE akin TO NEGOTIATING With SOME local DRY WALL CONTRACTOR….I DO NOT KNOW.

    • kathy_lowen

I think you’re right, NAFTA and outsourcing is really what’s driving a lot of Trump supporters, even if their rage is directed at “illegals”. Unfortunately neither party seems to be speaking to the issue, which is incredible when you consider the millions of manufacturing jobs that have been lost, and all the communities that have been devastated. So Progressives like Sanders and Warren can talk all day about “income inequality”, but however ‘inappropriately” he frames it, Trump’s appeal is he manages to make it “personal”.

      • Hillary

Sanders and Warren are all about “income redistribution.” They want to take even more of working people’s money and give it to the other half of the country which is out of work or refuses to work or whatever. I’m willing to listen to Trump’s plan. He was very interesting to listen to on Hannity tonight. And he’s not a crazy right winger, he’s independent. A lot of us Independent voters are listening to what he has to say about our lousy trade policies and it’s very refreshing. I am sick of politicians not addressing the real problems with so called “free trade agreements.” We are getting the short end of the stick with these free trade deals. We buy way more stuff from China than they buy from us. We need a renegotiation.

      • kathy_lowen

Good points, and it’s really a growing problem in every western country now, not just the U.S., where the loss of jobs to outsourcing and ‘immigration’ is just being ‘managed’ thru increased welfare (or as you say, “income redistribution’). Although the inevitable spread of automation ain’t helping either. And no question that ‘gubmint’ shares the blame, but they’re just puppets. So call me a ‘socialist’, but if we’re gonna be doing any ‘redistribution’, let’s start with the “1%”, who obviously seem to be driving, and profiting the most from all this.

      • Hillary

I guess the 1 percent includes everyone making $200k a year. Since the average income is $50k or so.

      • kathy_lowen

Taxpayers with Incomes Over $200,000 Claim a Large Percentage of Key Tax Breaks… While taxpayers earning over $200,000 comprise roughly 13 percent of all taxpayers who itemize, they claim about 28 percent of all itemized deductions.

Boy have YOU BEEN Brainwashed, OMG. The actual wealth redistributors are big business and the top 2% of wealth owners re obscene tax breaks and all manner of welfare! And they have managed it! Is it possible you actually DO NOT GET THIS?

      • Eric Sanchez

        Go away Fake OMGface.

      • Hillary

The U.S. Government (Federal) took more money from my paycheck & even more when I filed my taxes because I happened to have a good year or 2 or 3! I don’t want to give the Federal government $50k in taxes, I want to save for retirement. And i even paid alot in state income tax, property taxes, etc., etc. And I also don’t like them telling me that social security is an entitlement either. Been paying and paying and paying for almost 40 years. ….. Half the country lives off the other half’s labor.

  • Shear’Ree Edition

I read these comment, and wow… you’re just like the vast majority of people, including, politicians, who always wants to point fingers at someone else. Where were you people at, when this plan of attack shifted gears against OUR Nation? Which was the first Obama campaign.

The people to blame for the current condition this nation is in, are us, the people. Why? Because, we allowed Obama to take office, and remain in office. And, we’re still allowing it. Geez… we got people like Hillary, Obama, and so many others whom unquestionably committed treason, and broken so many other laws, and instead for showing strong concern towards those criminal issues, you people fell into the “shit-Stir” created by these people, so your energy won’t be focused on them. And you’re still doing it.

The person to thank, for finally waking up the people, is Donald Trump, which
that reason alone, should make him “President Donald Trump.”

People in this country are finally becoming “reunited” faster than you can say “anchor baby!” We finally have someone who is truly fighting for our country and all the people in it. And, instead of embracing that movement, you people are allowing yourselves to get sucked in the “shit-Stir” created by the very people, who has sold this country out, including all the people in it!

Think of all the great people who had the courage to stand up to the wrong done to them, their nation, however you want to say it… For instance; The Great Martin Luther King, Cesar Chavez, Ronald Reagan to name a few.

Like or dislike trump… We do not have the luxury to bet on a “maybe!” We need a “sure thing!” Someone with the knowledge, experience and much needed tone, to “Make America Great Again!” Someone who knows how to benefit this country in national, and global affairs. And, of all the current candidates… Donald Trump is the only person that has the proven and validated credentials to represent the people of the USA to prosper from any and all governmental and political affairs.

Seriously, Really, think about that… put aside your differences, and focus on
this nation’s current condition, and alien those condition’s with the candidates
running for presidency, saying they can fix America. Take a deep look into their backgrounds, and simple look to see if any of them “walked their Talk?” Were they actually trying to help the people in this country, and the country itself? Or were they just another part of the problem. And part of the problem just doesn’t mean doing something wrong, it also means doing nothing. Because, either way, their just fueling the fire of destruction that’s tearing apart our once Great United States Of America.

So that you really understand the term “putting your differences aside”, please
allow me to help you further understand what I mean, and I am in no way trying to, or implying, that any of you not capable to comprehend that meaning on your own. I am just wanting to make sure you know exactly what page I’m on.

With that said; let’s say that you needed brain surgery, and you had several surgeons you could choose, to perform the necessary surgery. Let’s say, surgeon Trump was one surgeon you didn’t like that much, if at all. However, surgeon Trump’s success ratio was 100% and the other surgeons whom you could choose from, which, many of them you like way more, but, their success ratio was from 5% to 35%… which surgeon would you choose to operate on you? Think about that.

May God Bless all of you here, and May God Bless All of the People in this
America, and May God Bless Donald Trump, to have the courage and willingness, to sacrifice all he’s work for, to stand up for OUR United States Of America, and All The People In It!
