To call Lewis Black unorthodox might be an understatement. He’s easily one of the most unique comedians that I know of. But if you can handle his style, it’s undeniable that he certainly knows how to get his point across.
Like when he recently blasted Rush Limbaugh for making disparaging, and frankly disgusting, comments about Robin Williams following his death.
Black posted on his Facebook page:
“F**K YOU [my edit] Rush Limbaugh. Your statements were beyond cruel and stupid. They were intolerable. Enough is enough from you. You are an idiot. Don’t you ever demean the death of another human being. He was my friend. You disgust me.”
And I couldn’t agree more.
I get that we’re a politically polarized nation right now. Anyone who denies that is either naive or lying to themselves.
That being said, everything doesn’t have to be politically divisive. Robin Williams’ death had nothing to do with politics, but Rush Limbaugh (the scumbag that he is) felt the need to use the publicity his death was receiving to try to take a jab at liberal ideology.
If you didn’t catch his comments before, Limbaugh said:
“I think there was, on the part of media and Hollywood, genuine affection for the guy that is driving – media coverage – but there is politics. If you notice the coverage is focused on how much he had, but it wasn’t enough. He had everything, everything that you would think would make you happy. But it didn’t. Now, what is the left’s worldview in general? What is it? If you had to attach not a philosophy but an attitude to a leftist worldview, it’s one of pessimism and darkness, sadness. They’re never happy, are they? They’re always angry about something. No matter what they get, they’re always angry.”
Limbaugh essentially asserted that the reason why the media was covering the death of Robin Williams so passionately was partially due to their liberal bias.
Because Williams was a “leftist.”
What he was also basically implying was that depression is somehow linked to liberal ideology. As if conservative voters don’t suffer from depression because they apparently have a “sunny outlook on life.”
Are you freaking kidding me?
Conservatives are some of the most hate-filled, judgmental, prejudiced, paranoid individuals I encounter. Why do you think they love guns so much? Just in case they have to “arm up” and overthrow our government or engage in a shootout at the local Chipotle during their lunch break.
And that doesn’t even cover their vulgar protests of immigrant children or the disgusting vitriol they typically show toward homosexuals.
Limbaugh’s comments look even more ignorant now that Williams’ wife recently announced that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
But none of this should really be surprising. Rush Limbaugh has made a career out of being one of the most repulsive individuals in the conservative media. The fact that he’s made millions peddling his bottom-feeding garbage is a true testament to the real values for which conservatives stand.
