Limbaugh to Oprah: “If Black People in This Country are so Mistreated… How Did You Happen?”

limbaugh-oprahRush Limbaugh is such a detestable creature I’ve really thought of turning his last name into an adjective.  Like when someone says or does something truly ignorant, I’d say, “Hey, don’t be so Limbaugh.”

To me, Rush Limbaugh is a sleazy, disgusting pile of garbage.  He’s a racist, sexist bigot.  He defines “blowhard” and seems to thrive in a culture that places his level of vile dribble on a pedestal. I always use him as a prime example to showcase just how horrible true right-wing ideology is.  This man, for all intents and purposes, has been a leading member of the “conservative media” for what seems like forever.  Which is ironic considering conservatives claim to be the people who represent the “moral majority” while supporting such a grotesque parasite.

Then again, when aren’t conservatives hypocrites?

Well, in true racist fashion, Limbaugh decided to go on a rant about racism and of all things—Oprah.  Because, you know, racism doesn’t exist if successful African Americans exist.

Limbaugh went on to say about racism as it relates to President Obama:

“These people are not nearly as smart as they think they are.  They are embarrassingly ignorant.  It’s not because he was black!  It’s because he was lying, Oprah!  He’s lying now!  He just told the biggest presidential whopper in history!  If black people in this country are so mistreated and so disrespected, how in the name of Sam Hill did you happen?”

First, I just love the idea of Limbaugh calling someone else ignorant.  Limbaugh, the multiple-time-adulterer, who defends the “sanctity of marriage” with his opposition to same-sex marriages.  Yeah, by all means Rush, let’s talk about ignorance.

Next, it’s amazing how Limbaugh feels that President Obama not being completely honest about 5% of Americans being able to keep their current health insurance is the “biggest presidential whopper in history.”  Really?  Ignoring the fact that our nation’s history extends well over two centuries (with massive atrocities such as slavery and Native American genocide) I guess Limbaugh doesn’t recall the Iraq War.

You know, the lie Bush told the American people that resulted in over 4,000 American deaths.  I would say that lie is just a bit more substantial than Obama not being completely honest with the 5% of Americans who will be forced to eventually buy more comprehensive health insurance.

Then finally, I love his premise that because Oprah is African American and successful, that means racism doesn’t exist.  If you want to talk about ignorance, that is absolute ignorance.  Seriously, racism doesn’t exist because there are successful African Americans?

During segregation there were successful African Americans.  Does that mean during segregation racism wasn’t an issue?

This is the simple-minded ignorance that’s rampant throughout the entire Republican party.  It’s the kind of shallow talk that gets conservatives to stand and applaud because it sounds right—when in fact it doesn’t make any damn sense whatsoever.

If Rush Limbaugh does nothing else, for me he defines everything that’s bad about conservatives and the Republican party.  The fact that despite his open racism, sexism and bigotry, he still remains a relevant conservative media figure and highly influential with the GOP, speaks volumes for the true “values” of the conservative movement.
