NBA Owner Tells Girlfriend to Stop Associating with Black People Publicly (Audio)

donald-sterlingWow.  That’s about all I can say after listening to the 9 minute argument Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling had with his “girlfriend” that was released by TMZ Sports, where he told her that he didn’t want her associating with black people (or minorities in general) in public.

Which is ironic considering this woman happens to be half Mexican and half black – a fact Mr. Sterling seems completely unaware of before she informs him during the argument.  Sterling seems to have had a particular issue with this woman taking a picture with Magic Johnson and posting it on her Instagram account.

Sterling made comments such as:

“It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you’re associating with black people. Do you have to?”

“You can sleep with [black people]. You can bring them in, you can do whatever you want. The little I ask you is not to promote it on that … and not to bring them to my games.”

“I’m just saying, in your lousy f*cking Instagrams, you don’t have to have yourself with, walking with black people.”

Here, just listen for yourself:

Outside of the fact that listening to both of these people go back and forth for 9 minutes is utterly painful (both of them sound like complete idiots), the comments made by Donald Sterling on this tape are inexcusable.

I’m not really sure what happens going forward.  Being an owner of an NBA team (though many have accused Sterling of being a racist in the past), and the NBA being predominantly African American, I’m very curious as to how the league will react to these comments being made public.

Honestly, on this tape, Sterling sounds like some deranged old guy who doesn’t even realize where he is.  How he’s an owner of an NBA franchise makes absolutely no sense.

So I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what the NBA does following this public release of these very racist comments made by one of its team owners.  But there’s one thing that’s for certain, there won’t be any, “These comments were taken out of context” defense from Mr. Sterling, because there’s no way anyone could misinterpret the utter ignorance that he displayed during this argument.
