No, Donald Trump Doesn’t Get Credit for Peace Talks Between North and South Korea

As much as I absolutely loathe Donald Trump, I’m not someone who changes the rules on how I view things simply because reality and facts don’t back up what I want to be real or true.

To me, being a progressive is about believing in facts more than ideology.

So when I say Trump doesn’t deserve credit for the historical Korean peace talks between South and North Korea, I’m not saying that as someone who doesn’t want to give him credit for anything — I say that because he doesn’t deserve credit.

To give someone credit for something means that the result for which you’re praising them was “part of the plan” and intended.

And don’t even try to tell me that behind Trump’s unhinged ranting and raving on Twitter about “little rocket man” and threats of nuclear war was some “master plan” to push South and North Korea toward peace talks.

Does Trump have something to do with it? Absolutely — but not in a good way.

Since this “president” is such an unstable individual who’s too incompetent to understand why war with North Korea would be terrible for the entire planet, I’m fairly confident it pushed these other world leaders to do something to lessen the madman’s likelihood of starting a nuclear war.

In other words, Trump’s mental instability is so terrifying that, out of fear that his incompetence could result in a nuclear missile being launched killing millions of people, other nations took it upon themselves to try to “work it out.”

Because make no mistake about it, the nation most at risk due to Trump’s threats was South Korea. It was in their best interests to do whatever they could to improve relations with North Korea, otherwise this lunatic might do something that resulted in their country being hit with a nuclear weapon.

It’s also important to remind people that the Winter Olympics played a huge role in all of this. The unity people saw there, I believe, inspired both sides to try to work on improving their relationship as it’s in the best interests of both nations to do so.

So, no, I’m not going to give Trump credit for any of this simply because an unintended consequence of his unhinged outbursts, mental instability, incompetence, and neurotic insecurity is that these countries realized a nuclear war would be a catastrophic thing for all of humanity.
