Just when you thought you had heard everything, leave it to Rep. Diane Black (R-TN) to say something so incredibly stupid I had to double check what I had heard with my own ears.
A year into Donald Trump’s “presidency,” with the GOP in full control of the House and Senate, Rep. Black knows who’s really to blame for the current government shutdown — Barack Obama.
As I’ve said more times than I can recall, you can’t make this crap up.
Black told MSNBC’s Kristen Welker that the “root cause” of the shutdown was Obama’s signing DACA in the first place. She claimed that, due to what she feels was presidential overreach, Republicans have now been forced to undo his unconstitutional executive order.
Of course, that is complete bullshit considering Trump didn’t have to end DACA, a move even several Republicans opposed.
Furthermore, her argument is asinine because Republicans are currently trying to use DACA as a bargaining chip with Democrats — which is part of the reason why the government is shut down in the first place. So it’s not as if there’s not enough support in Congress to pass DACA, it’s just that the GOP fabricated this mess so that they could use it as a political weapon against Democrats.
Thankfully Welker wasn’t having any of this nonsense, calling Black out for the fact that Republicans currently control the House, Senate, and White House.
“Congresswoman, the fact does remain that the Republicans have control of the White House, the House and the Senate,” Welker stated. “So how does your party not bear responsibility for this shutdown?”
That’s when Black laughably tried to blame this on Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) — because of course she did.
I guess we should just be happy she didn’t try to blame the shutdown on Hillary Clinton. I’m sure that’s coming soon out of the mouth of one of these idiots.
It’s also important to point out that several Republican senators voted against the House’s attempt to pass a short-term solution to avoid this shutdown, making it even more outrageous to blame Democrats for this mess.
The fact remains that DACA is clearly something that has enough support in Congress to pass, so it doesn’t matter if it was initially put in place through an executive order signed by Obama. It was Trump’s decision to end the program, then turn around and try to use it as a political weapon hoping to leverage billions in funding for the stupid border wall he promised everyone Mexico was going to pay for.
This was nothing but a pathetic attempt by Rep. Black to bring up Obama’s name hoping to shift the blame for her party’s own incompetence, bigotry, and ignorance — as well as Trump’s obsession to undo anything signed by our former president — hoping people won’t realize that it’s her party that’s in charge of Congress and the White House.
Rep. Black can deny it all she wants, but it’s Republicans that fabricated this crisis by trying to play politics with the lives of DREAMers, and even the millions of children who rely on CHIP for health care.
Like I’ve stated several times over the last few days, leave it to Republicans to control the House, Senate, and White House — but blame Democrats for the government shutdown.
