A Registered Sex Offender is Running as a Republican for Governor of California

glenn-champWhen it comes to political primaries, there’s usually no shortage of ridiculous human beings who throw their hat into the ring in hopes of securing the candidacy for any number of political parties.

That being said, it’s not every day you get a registered sex offender running for governor of the most populated state in the United States – California.  But you can now.

Glenn Champ is one of four candidates the GOP has running to be the party’s candidate for Governor of California – and he’s a registered sex offender.  In 1993, he was convicted on two counts of assault with intent to commit rape and as a result was placed on the state’s sex-offender registry.  He claims that he was caught trying to pick up underaged prostitutes.

But this man’s criminal history doesn’t stop there.

Not only has he been caught trying to solicit prostitutes (some of them apparently underaged), but in 1998 he received a 12-year prison sentence for voluntary manslaughter when he hit a man with his vehicle.

Yet he has the nerve to call current politicians criminals for, you guessed it, “unconstitutional” infringements on gun rights.  Ironic considering, as a felon, it would be illegal for him to own a gun.

Though Champ has said following his prison sentence for manslaughter he has since “found God” and admits to past mistakes.

And while I’m someone who believes in forgiveness, and he might have straightened up his life since his criminal past, I think he might need a psychological evaluation if he really believes that with his past he stands any chance at becoming Governor of California.

I always can’t help but wonder what goes on in the minds of these people or who it is that surrounds them, telling them they should run for public office.  As if someone who’s been found guilty of trying to pay for sex from underaged prostitutes and for manslaughter, stands any chance at holding public office.

Though I doubt Glenn Champ stands any chance at all of actually winning the GOP nomination, it’s still quite ironic that the party for “moral values” has a man running under their banner who’s not only a registered sex offender – but has actually killed another person.

The quality the GOP demands of people running for office astounds me…

  • Mrs_oatmeal

Nothing surprises me. If the Koch brothers put enough $$ behind him, he could get elected! Look at some of the other weak brained zealots they have gotten elected!

    • gmartini

No, the Koch Bros. can throw zillions at this clown but—California prohibits felons from running for office. This issue is a non-issue. Moreover, it’s CA we’re talking about and since Arnie jacked up this state so horribly, it will be a long time before a GOP/Tea Bagger ever sees the inside of the Capitol building in Sacramento.

      • Stephen Barlow

The sex offenses are OK, but the felony manslaughter, that’s the nogo.

  • Danny Metcalfe

Keep in mind, californians acquitted O.J., and Robert Blake. Also elected Arnold Schwarzenegger governor. In that State, any nutjob, mudering, rapist, junkie whore monger can be successful

    • eljimbo

As a Californian I would take offense at your comments… if you weren’t right. 😉 Land of fruits and nuts, & Nancy Pelosi. But then, is any State really any better? There are complete loons (Like our own Nancy) in Congress from other States. It amazes me they get elected and I am even more amazed that they get re-elected.

    • 1EdMeadows83

And George Murphy and Salvatore Phillip “Sonny” Bono and Ronald Reagan. etc., etc.

    • Stephen Barlow

Like Pelosi? hehehe and don’t forget the two times the Menendez brothers got off for putting out for Daddy for a decade.

  • NCCaniac42

One name comes to mind – Darrell Issa –

    • eljimbo

Unfortunately Issa is my congressman. I would love to see a viable candidate kick his backside to the curb, but thanks to Gerrymandering and a higher than normal level of Tea Baggers in my area, we’re stuck with this douche for a while.

  • Eddie Krebbs

Admittedly, sex offenders have an extremely low recidivism rate compared to other crimes (Bureau of Justice keeps a page with all sorts of prison stats). Admittedly, people can and do change (although “I found religion” is a popular and overdone jailhouse mantra). But this guy seems to have a pattern of repeats including repeated sexual crimes along with other crimes mixed in.

I especially like that you report his defense to sexual assault as being that he said that instead he was picking up underage prostitutes. That is an excuse for the episode ?

OTOH – with all the sexual improprieties in the GOP, he’ll fit in just fine. Funny how the “big tent” can’t deal with homosexuals but is full of the like of Santorum and Vitter.

  • rossbro

And, if that jackoff runs, people will vote for the idiot.

  • Ram Garcia

Hey!!! He’s a perfect candidate for the Tea Bagger Party if they can convince him to support their agenda… They could care less about his past…..

    • strayaway

He might do better as a Democrat considering accusations against Bill Clinton; rape, harassment, Monica.

      • standbehindtheyellowline

Oh, it does get your goat that these women were of age, doesn’t it? You come here often as a troll. Not many are surprised by your comments any more. Granted there have been many more than Clinton messing around with women. But I guess all that knocking on men’s bathroom doors at the airports are acceptable in the up standing, no same sex marriage as they live on the down low, Republican, strayaway land, huh?

      • strayaway

Or we could compare a nobody Republican no one ever heard of a President who had a series of women charge rape and harassment not to mention receiving sexual favors from a young underling while in office. The idea here is to feign outrage at the nobody Republican while ignoring the elephant in the room. Hillary could also be looked upon as an enabler by some accounts for her managing damage control on Bill’s women.

“Speaking to a group of GM employees about his 1970 El Camino, Clinton joked, “It had astro-turf in the back. I don’t want to tell you what the astro-turf was for.”” At least he was patriotic enough to buy and use an American vehicle.

      • standbehindtheyellowline

Really, compare that no body Republican to all at this years CPAC and the years past that answer the ads for male on male in the dozens, as they preach to their base how immoral and un-Godly those acts are. I’ll take the President that didn’t stand on his pulpit telling me how I shouldn’t have outside activities verses those that stand on their soap boxes preaching the “word” as they are getting bent over. But, you must live on the down low too, to defend these hypocrites. When was Clinton found guilty of rape again? I missed that trial and sentencing.

      • strayaway

Clinton under oath acknowledged a sexual encounter with Gennifer flowers. We all know about his affair with Intern Monica Lewinsky. Dolly Kyle Browning was high-school friend who said in a sworn declaration that she had had 22-year off-and-on relationship with Clinton. Elizabeth Ward Gracen, former Miss America, said she had a one-night stand with Clinton. Originally, she said it was a rape but changed her story. Paula Jones filed a sexual harassment suit against Clinton and settled for $850,000 with no apology or admission of guilt. Money works. Juanita Broderick alleged Clinton had raped her 21 years earlier but Clinton denied it and no charges were brought.Mrs. Broaddrick suffered a bruised and torn lip, which she said she suffered when Clinton bit her during the rape; From 1978-1980, during Clinton’s first term as governor of Arkansas, state troopers assigned to protect the governor were aware of at least seven complaints from women who said Clinton forced, or attempted to force, himself on them sexually. Kathleen Wiley a former White House aide claimed that Clinton groped her in his office in 1993, on the same day when her husband, facing embezzlement charges, died in an apparent suicide. Eileen Wellstone, 19-year-old English woman said Clinton sexually assaulted her after she met him at a pub near the Oxford where the future President was a student in 1969. In 1972, a 22-year-old woman told campus police at Yale University that she was sexually assaulted by Clinton, a law student at the college. No charges were filed, but retired campus policemen contacted by Capitol Hill Blue confirmed the incident.

I could go on. You could suggest that all these women and more are liars but I think there are too many, a pattern is evident, and other Presidents like Obama, and Carter are not hounded by women making similar claims. You are consequently, like Hillary and the Arkansas State Police, an enabler.

      • 1EdMeadows83

You brought up a bevy of names but I noticed that nothing were proven. Even when Flowers saw an opportunity to make a bundle, nothing was proven. You don’t know much about the law, do you?

      • strayaway

Ed, I can’t believe that you are as dense as hopefully you pretend to be. $850,000 Bill. Just a coincidence right? Bill’s lawyers gave that money away for the fun of it or… Like the cigars disappearing in the Oral Office? Why it all must be coincidence and bad luck that poor ‘ol Bill just kept getting hounded by a swarm of women all claiming he was lecherous, a rapist, harassed them, etc.. Please explain why, for instance, Carter or Obama don’t have a similar swarm of accusing women hounding them? My guess is that they behaved differently than Bill.

      • 1EdMeadows83

As I’ve said, Stayaway (Not a misspelling) you don’t know much about the law. The issue was discussed and it was decided that it would be smarter to pay the
goldigging broad off than go through the ordeal of fighting the claim in the courts. Maybe he was guilty, maybe he was not. But we don’t know for sure.

      • standbehindtheyellowline

Okay all that ranting and at no time did I see the dates of when he was tried for rape and convicted. Anything else is just you angry that he didn’t take to your kind. Fantasizing about it might relieve you some. But don’t get your hopes up. You might try your local airport, see who’s a knockin’ there. Got your code ready, I’m sure.

      • strayaway

No one said Clinton was convicted of all the charges of rape, harassment, and groping. Those were just the charges of a dozen or more women none of whom knew each other. You guys would fit right into Saudi Arabia where women’s claims are disregarded unless a Saudi court takes their side. Good luck women with that! What next, Progressives for Sharia? Don’t forget though that Bill’s sperm somehow wound up on Monica’s blue dress as revealed in impeachment hearings and that Paula Jones did come out of court with $850,000 of hush money.

Note to women reading this: The next time you are sexually harassed, groped, etc. by a prominent Democrat, don’t come running to Eddy or Yellowline whining because they might ignore you unless you had the resources to first purchase justice.

      • standbehindtheyellowline

Good try to twist my words into not defending women, dip stick. I am a women, I defend them to the death. I don’t or can’t with a check in hand. But you compare the treatment of women here in the US to those in Saudi as if they are not apple to oranges. It’s obvious that you are a hard core idiot that will defend the Repugs/T-baggers to the end with no real moral issue, just because. Monica was well of age as were the others. So really, what’s your beef?

      • strayaway

Woman or not, you disregard the claims of women, actually multiple women in your case, just like they do in Saudi Arabia. I wasn’t comparing the treatment of women In Saudi Arabia: burqas, not being allowed to drive, etc., I was comparing your disregard for the claims of women to the disregard of women’s claims in Saudi Arabia. Your allegiance to Bill or your Party just seems stronger than your allegiance to other women and their justice.

      • standbehindtheyellowline

Not a very good judgment call. I have no allegiance to those that haven’t a proven case. You on the other hand have allegiance to absolute rumors and anything you can read that is made up. You remind of those that hate, just to hate. All because you read it standing in line at Wally world. Hey, Prince William is not having an affair, no matter how many front page rags said so. I’ve see you on this page before, and at no time have you had a allegiance to anything that was truthful.

      • strayaway

But Clinton’s sperm did find its way onto Monica’s blue dress, Paula Jones was paid off $850,000 to keep quiet, and there were all these other women charging rape, harassment, and groping. And you keep saying, “nothing happening here”. I notice that Carter and Obama didn’t have a swarm of women accusing them of all these things. Why do you suppose they were left alone and poor Bill Clinton kept being harassed by angry women? Just bad luck? How are you not an enabler.

      • standbehindtheyellowline

You are like a broken record. I know you don’t believe that women, women well of age like Monica was can make her own decision about her own sexaspades. At no time did Monica claim rape. You said it yourself, Jones was paid off to go away. If she was raped by the future President, there is no way in this world she would have allowed herself to be bought for a measly $850,000. Why would she have taken that chance to put any other sister in his harms way. Nope, no self respectful women would do that for just $850,000. Why is it not okay for a Democrat man, well of age and a women, well of age whether married or not have immoral sex, but when your boyz take it in the behind with under age boys and then tell the rest of the “FREE” Americans just how immoral it is, you have their backs? You have your morals screwed up and it has become overwhelmingly obvious to everyone that reads your so called reasoning. You are down right sick and you need to seek help, ASAP. You said “No one said Clinton was convicted of all the charges of rape, harassment, and groping.” But that is just what you said and called him a rapist, harasser and groper. I say you are full of sh$$ and I am done with your made up scenarios and will not be engaging in your delusions any longer. Now get your last word in, you think that makes you right. But, it is all just false claims that you wish were true.

      • strayaway

Nowhere did I claim that Monica charged rape. I just mentioned that Bill’s sperm wound up on her blue dress. You better work on your reading comprehension. I also mentioned that there was this superior/junior relationship which in many circles is deemed not so good. Sure, peasant girls have always had relationships with their lord and masters if in your mind that constitutes making their own decisions. To me it is a President of the United States taking advantage of an office page offering sexual services.

The $850,000 had nothing to do with Monica. Again: reading comprehesion. I don’t know who ‘my boyz’ is? Surely you aren’t referring to allegations about young Barack and Larry Sinclair or Reggie Love. I don’t even vote for him. As far as I’m concerned, those are just allegations.

I never claimed Clinton was “convicted” of anything. Again, take the reading comprehension class. Although based on a pattern and the multitude of women making similar charges, there is strong circumstantial evidence yo prefer to ignore.

      • standbehindtheyellowline

I was right you felt the need to have the last word, only you made crap up having it.

“You said it yourself, Jones was paid off to go away.” was the sentence after stating the Monica was of age and at no time claimed rape as you tried to imply above.

I think it’s YOU that needs to “take the reading comprehension class” dimwit.

      • strayaway

No, You need the reading comprehension assistance. My exact words were”But Clinton’s sperm did find its way onto Monica’s blue dress, Paula Jones was paid off $850,000 to keep quiet, and there were all these other women charging rape, harassment, and groping.” Note that the sentence had three clauses. The first clause is about Monica Lewinsky who never charged rape and seems to have been involved in consensual sexual activity with President Clinton. There was no claim that Monica said she was raped only that Bill’s sperm found its way onto Monica’s dress. That wasn’t a rumor. The dress was brought into the hearings as evidence. Your daft comment after reading this was “At no time did Monica claim rape.” Please reread. The mention of rape had to do with the third clause referring to “OTHER” women. Assuming Bill isn’t over the hill, the press might have a lot of fun following him around if Hillary gets back into the White House.

      • standbehindtheyellowline

Oh you got all butt hurt cause you got called out.
Where in your new drivel did you admit that I at no time said Monica was paid? You also have tried to make it sound as though the 22 year old didn’t have any kind of simple comprehension of her actions with a United States President and that she was “made” to give him head. It the real world , anyone “made” to perform a sex act is rape. And that was your intentions. No, that was not even close to the case. Dress or no dress, she got on her knees and gave him head of her own free will. No drugs, no alcohol, no pressure. When in reality she had her own fantasies and delusions of being the next Marilyn Monroe.

As far as Jones goes, as I have already said. Real women don’t take a pay off or wait till the other party has fame to cry wolf. “Susan Webber Wright, ruled that since Jones had not suffered any damages, the case should be dismissed’ Which was another women that saw right through that bs.

Try again. It isn’t working for you. But with you feeling so butt hurt, you will continue the fight even when the history books show different.

      • strayaway

What on earth are you talking about now? Where did this “Monica got paid” enter the conversation? You are still missing the concept that even if Monica performed consensual acts on the President, feminists would recognize the power differential between a President and a page and regard it as Bill taking advantage of Monica.

I had to look up Susan Webber Wright. It turns out she was one of Bill Clinton’s students and later was the judge in the Jones case. She “ruled that a sitting president could not be sued and deferred his trial until after his presidential term was over; The ruling to keep Jones from suing Clinton, while he was still president, was overturned by the Eighth Circuit.” She has graduated to being a judge on a secret(?) court. Creepy. The history books already say that Judge Weber was overruled.

      • standbehindtheyellowline

Right wing sites much? You didn’t see where “Susan Webber Wright, ruled that since Jones had not suffered any damages, the case should be dismissed’ Well of course not. I don’t give a spit about your opinion. You have always fought to the death for something that is in the history books you think is wrong. Well, princess you are wrong. The biggest wrong is… Clinton was 2 times a President and if all goes some citizens way, the first Presidents husband. Go sell your drivel to the neighbors that roll their eyes behind your back.

      • strayaway

Wikipedia actually. Although in whatever progressive la-la land you represent, that is probably a “right wing sight”. Notice that this judge was overruled. It does look like the molester in chief will get to hang out in the White House again with his enabler in chief wife. If she can tolerate her husband’s philandering, she probably won’t be getting too upset about the $6B of State department money that disappeared on her watch.

      • standbehindtheyellowline

Wikipedia? Really? The place that anyone can contribute their “facts”.
Maybe it’s in the same place that Bush had misplaced his 6.6 billion. Does that have you concerned at all?
What a hypocrite. I’d bet hers is found way before Bush’s is. HAHAHAHAHA

      • 1EdMeadows83

Ted Haggard, (Evangelist, so, a Republican)

        Chris Lee, New York congressman

      • strayaway

Which ones had women accuse them of rape or had a swarm of women accuse them of harassment, groping, and the rest? What’s your point, that collectively they almost had as many affairs or whatever as Bill Clinton had had accusers?

      • 1EdMeadows83

No, my motive is simple. There are Republicans just as horny as Clinton and in some cases, more despicable.

      • 1EdMeadows83

You, like all Republicans, missed my point entirely. “Which ones had women accuse them of rape” I have a daughter who could accuse YOU of rape even though she’s never met you (Thank God) but would not be PROOF that it happened. Try hard now, think and maybe you can grasp the point I’m making.

      • Michael Siever

Don’t forget Larry Craig, Republican U.S. Senator from Idaho, and Mark Foley, Republican U.S. Congressman from Florida.

      • 1EdMeadows83

I guess it’s OK to accuse someone on Facebook with no documentation. Who did Clinton Rape and who did he harass?
I’m sure all Republican politicians would refuse a blow job when offered by a beautiful 23 year old girl.

      • strayaway

Drop down the list to find another post where I listed some of the women who made these accusations. I ran into too many names and accusations to list them all but you now have a list of women accusers to begin your own research. What’s your problem? Glenn Champ had some allegations made against him. Bill Clinton had the same bad luck. And Eddy, you aren’t on Facebook right now.

      • 1EdMeadows83

You were probably the smartest 18 year old in your sixth grade but this is the real world now. >(Glenn) Champ’s rap sheet is lengthy. Court records show that in 1992, he pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed firearm. In 1993, he was convicted of two counts of assault with intent to commit rape and as a result was placed on the state’s sex-offender registry.< Now, show me where President Clinton was ever CONVICTED of anything. Even his impeachment was a failure.

      • strayaway

Eddy, The Emperor really doesn’t really have a glorious set of clothes even though no court ruled on that yet. If just one woman or two women made such allegations, we could just assume them to be nasty but when a large number of women make similar complaints, their confidants and members of the Arkansas State Police relate similar stories, Bill’s sperm sample shows up on Monica’s blue dress, and Paula Jones is awarded $850,000 of hush money it becomes difficult for a prudent person to say they are all liars. By the way, I never championed Glenn Champ. I only said I never heard of him and contrasted the acceptance of what was said about him vs. the different standard applied by Mr. Champ’s critics to the equal or worse charges women have made against Mr. Clinton.
