Rick Perry’s Potential Successor “Thanks” Person Who Called Wendy Davis “Retard Barbie”

Greg AbbottAs people celebrate the light at the end of the tunnel with Rick Perry’s impending last day as Governor of Texas, I can’t help but remind people of the saying,”Be careful what you wish for.”   While the country might not know much about Greg Abbott, the Republican who wants to succeed Rick Perry, they really need to learn who he is–and fast.

You see, much of the country is well aware of just how incompetent and corrupt Rick Perry is, but many have no clue that Greg Abbott is just as bad—if not worse.

Just take a look at his response on Twitter when one of his supporters called Senator Wendy Davis (the likely Democratic challenger for Governor of Texas) an “idiot” and “Retard Barbie.”

One of his supporters tweeted “at” Greg Abbott’s official Twitter account:

“@GregAbbott_TX would absolutely demolish idiot @WendyDavisTexas in Gov race – run Wendy run! Retard Barbie to learn life lesson.”

So what was Abbott’s response?  Well, of course, he thanked the gentlemen for his support:

“Jeff, thanks for your support”

No admonishment of this person’s comments.  Nope… Just gratitude for their support.

But should we really be shocked?  After all, this is the party that had its supporters boo a gay solider (while they were deployed in Iraq) during their presidential primaries–and not a single candidate spoke out in support of the soldier or condemned those in the audience who booed.

Politico reports that when they tried to contact Abbott, or any of his representatives, they did not immediately have a response.  Apparently his “camp” needed time to figure out whether or not they should retract their supportive comment and condemn such ignorant language.

Well, after some national backlash, then Abbott finally delivered a response—via Twitter.

“FYI: I thank supporters on Twitter, but I don’t endorse anyone’s offensive language. Stay positive.”

Real classy.

Nothing quite like showing your disdain for hateful, ignorant comments with a response registering less than 140 characters.

But again, the Republican party (and its supporters) have made a name for themselves for showing total and absolute disrespect for anyone they oppose.  Heck, just look at the visceral hatred they’ve displayed towards President Obama.  The complete lack of respect for the President of the United States by many Republicans has been absolutely disgusting.  And while I know many liberals took plenty of shots at President Bush during his time in the White House, it still doesn’t compare to the blind hatred I’ve witnessed coming from Republicans towards Obama.

So while many Texans are celebrating the countdown to the end of Rick Perry as Governor of Texas, all I can say to them is…

Be careful what you wish for.

Go Wendy Davis! Obviously Texas needs you to win if there’s any hope for the State.

  • Jez07

If the people of Texas VOTE IN this moron .. then they DESERVE EXACTLY WHAT THEY GET!!! Nuff said

    • Jennifer Nykanen

Not all of us in Texas are dumb enough to vote for the moron. Promise, no one deserves that “man” in office.

This is the same person who, while in a wheelchair for life, refuses to support ADA requirements in TX. He is worse than Perry ever thought of being. We need to turn blue (or at least a suitable shade or reasonable purple) & go back to being the great state we once were – where we valued education, & good paying jobs. Surely there are still SANE Republicans out there – instead of these Tea Party crazies.

Glenna: Must be lots and lots of rich people in Texas that are buying off all your Republicans with their gigantic campaign contributions. What we really need is campaign finance reform! Well, we know how far Russ Feingold got with that idea! Crooked, corrupt politicians in bed with their big business corporations. Sick, sick, sick, and so disgusting!!!

ask all TEA PARTY trash where were they when BUSH was spending sooooooooooooooo much money? don’t take any BS as an answer– if they don’t answer–or EVADE the answer ala FOX “news” sh*tbags ask the question over again til they answer– which of course they wont

  • Dave Pavlatos

I will be sending money to Wendy Davis….AND I DON’T EVEN LIVE IN TX.!!!!

Stop telling your fellow progressives how to vote, they know how to choose the right woman. You guys need to get off your ass and convince people who would not vote like you, to vote like you would. That is the democratic way, and you should use it, or the other side will use it against you.

Convince more people to vote for your candidate than your opponent’s people do. You do know how to express and explain your point of view, right?

    • Suzie

Duh!!! By posting on here, we are getting through to some people, along with Allen Clifton! What are YOU doing to help out, other than talking down to others posting on here??? Maybe you should get off your butt and go out and convince others who to vote for and why, instead of reading our comments and criticizing us! I am doing plenty to get the message across, and plan to do even more, thank you, while I still have a 15-1/2 year old at home to raise!

I think the real answer is getting people who dont vote at all, to get in the game. NON VOTERS heavily outweigh the fatcats who drag themselves to the booth every election. want to change texas? start with the 18-25yr olds who do not even feel as though they are a part of your society. non voters are the secret weapon that keep getting passsed over. make believers of the non believers and you will truly have something special money cant buy.

Get out the vote! Or they will have more of the same.
