Rick Santorum Says Obama Gives Muslims & LGBT Refugees Preference In Order To Destroy America

rick santorumThanks to the ongoing Donald Trump love fest, the rest of the Republican field is desperate to get any possible attention from the conservative media. Because of the fact that there are so many candidates battling for a chance to get noticed, they’ve had to try to outdo Trump when it comes to crazy rhetoric, giving Democrats a ton of free ammunition to use in the general election next year.

Then there are the candidates like Rick Santorum and Bobby Jindal who are polling so low, nothing short of lighting themselves on fire in front of the Fox News headquarters during a live taping of Fox and Friends would get them any airtime these days. On the advice of my lawyer, I want to make it clear that I’m not actually suggesting that they, or any other attention-starved candidate do such a thing – in the likely event that Bobby Jindal’s staff is reading this story.

Anyhow, Rick Santorum is one of those Republican hopefuls polling so low, he’s had to hit the road and even appear on shows where he would be sure to get slapped around by the host. Last week he appeared on Bill Maher’s show and demonstrated he has an even worse grasp on science than Bill does, which is saying quite a bit. Citing flawed climate data, Santorum tried to make the claim that a majority of scientists didn’t believe that climate change was caused by carbon dioxide, and failed pretty miserably.

Then on Tuesday, Rick Santorum was back in friendly territory, scoring a radio appearance with the same Iowa host who suggested last month that enslaving undocumented immigrants was a good idea. Once again, using the trifecta of Obama, gays, and Islam, Santorum came up with his newest idea – that President Obama plans to destroy America by giving preferential treatment to LGBT & Muslim refugees.

Via Right Wing Watch:

The GOP presidential candidate also said that he would oppose the United Nations if it tries to resettle Muslim refugees in the country, claiming that if elected he will take “Christians and Jews” fleeing the the Middle East because they are “being most persecuted” in countries like Iraq and Syria. Santorum went on to repeat the debunked claim that the administration is discriminating against non-Muslim refugees while trying to “bring in folks who are potential radical Islamic sympathizers.”

“They believe that America will be better off if we bring in people that are nothing like and share none of the values of what made America a unique and great country,” he said. “And let’s be honest, if you look at radical Islam, it’s about as antithetical to the American spirit to anything you’d want to see, but in President Obama’s mind, that’s a good thing for America because, of course, America is flawed and America needs to be changed and needs to be more influenced by these other cultures and other religions.”

The former Pennsylvania senator eventually made his way to attacking the administration for giving asylum to LGBT people fleeing hostile nations: “If you look at who Barack Obama has put in the State Department and the kind of efforts that they have ongoing, it’s not just radical Muslims but they are also taking — one of their highest priorities is to take people who are persecuted because of their gender identity, that’s another area that the president has focused on and making sure that we bring people into this country.” (Source)

Actually, it’s safe to say that it is Rick Santorum’s party which is doing the most to destroy the United States, not President Obama.

You see, if I really wanted to destroy America, the first thing I would do is vote for someone like Santorum or another one of the Republicans running for president. I’d also change my party affiliation to Republican, buy the biggest gas-guzzling white Ford F250 that I could find with truck nuts hanging from the bumper, and then install over-sized exhaust pipes so I could “roll coal” with a Confederate flag flying from the bed.

Our country is great because of immigration, not in spite of it as Rick Santorum tries to argue in his paranoid spiel. What’s more, in his desperate attempt to win back the voters he courted successfully in 2012, he is proving to the rest of us that the Republican Party is intent on futilely resisting a changing America, even though it will ultimately cause their own political irrelevance.

Then again, at least Rick Santorum is the first 2016 candidate to have visited all 99 counties in Iowa. I guess that has to count for something, right?

  • I really want to fit in and be a *real* American, but, do I have to go so far as to ‘roll coal’? If I do, what is the best way to dumb me down so that it seems like a good idea?

first you get a confederate flag, then you go buy the biggest gun you can afford, then you get drunk with some other knuckle draggers , do a couple of hits of meth and then you;ll be all set to be a “good ol’ boy”

I’m not certain from where Mr. Santorum’s forebears came to America. My basic research finds its greatest concentrations (by name) in Ecuador, Brazil, Spain, and Italy. Further research suggests the name is Spanish in origin.

If Mr. Santorum wishes an entire nation of people who think and act as he does, he should find a different planet. If, on the other hand, he wishes a nation of individuals who look like him, why doesn’t he move to Ecuador or Brazil or Spain?

This Nation has a sad history of looking down on the “latest” migration of individuals who came here in search of freedom from want or fear — of individuals who came here willing to work hard (notwithstanding a continent’s worth of individuals who were brought here by force — but still worked hard). If your name is O’Reilly, or Esposito, or Chang, your grandparents would know whereof I speak. While Asians still suffer from racism or ethnic bias, the Irish and Italians have long since been absorbed. Mr. Santorum would do well to do some studies in sociology or history, with an accent on world migration patterns.

As it stands, it would appear that we’d have done well at some point in the past to limit individuals of Spanish extraction, especially those named Santorum.

There is virtually nothing a Republican candidate can say that will disqualify him/her from candidacy. Well, except “Maybe we should start by getting rid of ‘carried interest’ and moving from there to up the ante on estate taxes.” I’m not sure even Trump could get away with that.
