Rush Limbaugh Ridiculously Claims Government is Using Public Transportation to Control People

1167763_10152287104727489_2067386851_nWhenever I meet someone who listens to Rush Limbaugh for “information,” I typically just dismiss them as being willfully ignorant.  He’s such an absolute joke that’s it’s hard for me to really wrap my mind around the fact that there are millions of people who listen to him to get “informed” about events that are going on.

Take for instance his belief that the government is using public transportation to control people.  You know, because these vessels aren’t controlled by us, but the government!

Limbaugh actually said that things like commuter trains are “leftist” because they want to control where everyone goes.  That liberals care more about control than they do the environment or global warming because sometimes when these trains are being constructed, trees are cut down.

Hmmm.  It would seem to me that liberals weigh the pros and cons of more people not polluting the atmosphere as much by using public transportation instead of driving, and determine that a few trees are worth the sacrifice considering the benefit of expanded public transportation services.

You know, making intelligent decisions by weighing all factors.

He also took the complaint some have had against Apple Maps not having public transit options (that and the fact that Apple Maps has been horrible for even driving directions since its launch) as “evidence” that liberals are determined to push people to use these means of “government control.”

It’s absolutely absurd.

People complained about Apple Maps not having public transit options because a lot of people use public transportation!  It has nothing to do with some asinine conspiracy theory about liberals wanting to force everyone to use public transportation so the government can control them.

And if Limbaugh really believes that (which from his show it sure as heck sounded like he did) he’s absolutely insane.  You have to be out of your mind to really think that public transportation is the government trying to control people.

But let’s call this what it really is – a right-wing media personality promoting the Republican party’s continued stance against public transportation because the Republican party is basically a whore for the oil industry.

And that’s all this nonsense is.

He just laughs at these followers all the way to the bank! I don’t think he I a stupid enough to believe all the crap he spews.

    • RWSP2004

I would recommend actually listening to the program, then you will not look like a buffoon. 😉

      • ray59

U listen to Limbaugh and ur calling other people bafoons?! What a joke!

      • RWSP2004

Yes, people who do not listen to the program who tell us what they think he said, look like fools to those of us who actually listen to the program.

      • Devil_Dinosaur

You will if you get caught listening to it, or defending it.

      • RWSP2004

A regular listener of almost 22 years now… and loving it! 😀

      • Scaramongus

why is it that right wing nutters defend their idols with the idea no one is qualified to criticize unless you listen, seems to me a good many of right wing nutters throw shit in every direction without even looking

      • RWSP2004

It would be the same thing if I called Rachel Maddow a blithering idiot, and I have never listened to the program. The only thing I have ever said about Ms. Maddow is that she get’s pummeled in the ratings by the Fox programs.

      • MascBlkMale

Rachel Maddow is a Rhodes Scholar….which many of MSNBC program host have MBAs, Doctorates and PH.Ds….Fox News are full of many college dropouts. So regardless if you listen to her or not…she way more qualified than the Limbaugh and Fox News.

      • RWSP2004

Who cares. Maddow was a fervent supporter of Obama. Those who thought a candidate in 2008 with NO resume or experience for the job of the most important job in the world, would make a good President, has NO vice in lecturing anyone on their level of intelligence. I would have to ask, what do they teach at Oxford?

      • Joseph Davis

I honestly hope that you’re not defending Limbaugh and are saying that he really does believe what he spews forth.

      • RWSP2004

Actually listen to the program, and then the truth will set you free!

It appears to me that Rush is “cheeking” his meds once again. Government using public transportation to control people? I was under the impression that public transportation is for the purpose of bringing those who cannot afford their own cars to work, shop, recreate, bring students to school, etc. etc. Doesn’t that move the economy forward?

    • Robert Carlson

Public transportation is for people who don’t drive places for a lot of reasons including costs, but not just costs. An hour ride on a train is far more relaxing that sitting in the traffic of people exercising their freedoms to make traffic and sit in it. Others realize the ecologic reasons for not burning gasoline to sit in their car alone. And even others don’t want to have to contend for a place to park their car when they get where they are going. Take you pick and do what makes you feel more comfortabl.

      • Veritas vos Liberabit

I am a senior citizen comfortably retired, however, driving across country in a Winnebago was never an item in my bucket list. I enjoy driving my car, but also occasionally use the public transportation system, mostly for socialization and recreation. So I cannot argue with your assessment. The issue with Rush, as I see it, is mostly delusional thoughts aimed at degrading the poor and/or those who have no other choice but to use public transportation as a necessity. Without public transportation available, our economy will suffer. This is not an issue of Government controlling others, simply an opinion of someone who has too much free time and don’t know how to use it constructively. My suggestion to Mr. Limbaugh is to learn how to knit, buy tons of pink yarn and knitting needles and knit pink sweaters for all his Fox comrades.

    • RWSP2004

Go look up what the “media tweak” of the day is. And then look up the definitions of parody and satire, and then the truth will set you free. 🙂

  • Tamaracboy

Don’t ever forget that it was General Motors, Firestone and Standard Oil that bought up and closed many streetcar lines throughout the USA. Thus forcing people to buy cars, tires and gasoline.
    No conspiracy there (yeah right)

  • Devil_Dinosaur

This has to be a case of Rush trolling the opposition. This is performance art, right?

    • RWSP2004

Try listening to the program for a change, then you will find your answer. 😉

  • Kim Serrahn

When are they going to put this guy in a home. What a dipstick.

    • K

an asylum would be more appropriate (if they still exist)

      • Kim Serrahn

Right next to John Hinckley Jr

    • Scaramongus

send for the men in the white coats

    • RWSP2004

      He’s been on for 25 years now… get a clue. 😀

      • PamelaHaley

He’s developed some dementia over the years.

      • RWSP2004

What? My wife is an expert in the field of dementia for over 25 years. You are sadly mistaken.

      • PamelaHaley

I think he forgets he’s on the radio doing a “news” show. He does this thing where he mocks people in stupid voices and goes “nya nananya nya.” I lose respect for people who resort to bullying and teasing to attempt to get their point across when speaking like a mature, adult human seems like a foreign idea.

      • RWSP2004

Once again, you are totally wrong. Rush’s program is NOT a “news” show. And in fact Rush has gone out of his way to make that clear. And he does not claim to be a journalist. This is the problem with liberals, they just do not take the time to become properly or accurately informed.

      • PamelaHaley

Nor do the extremist whackos who actually take him seriously. I know they are a minority but, they’re loud… at least the media allows them.

      • PamelaHaley

Liberals? How about any extremist on either side of the spectrum who don’t bother with critical thinking?

      • RWSP2004

Critical thinking? What exactly does that mean? Where were the “critical thinking” skills when millions of Americans voted for an unqualified candidate for President in 2008? Just saying…

      • PamelaHaley

Probably thinking the new blood was a step up from fearing McCain’s “Sledgehammer” to the budget and Palin’s well published belief in the, “Liberal War on Christmas.”

Honestly, if you think either candidate presented to you in a final election is going to make a real difference in the outcome of the trajectory of our country, you are mistaken.

Talking heads are bought and paid for by corporate America on both sides.

  • Eddie Krebbs

Something about psychological projection where you berate others for your own evils ? The LACK of public transportation has very well documented limiting on the ability of people to get to their jobs, etc.

    • RWSP2004

Tell that to Bill Mahrer and other liberals. 😉

      • PamelaHaley

        What?

      • RWSP2004

The Democrats wrote the book on the politics of personal destruction. Just ask Mitt Romney. 😉

      • PamelaHaley

Can I buy it on Amazon or, did you just make that one up?

      • RWSP2004

Just watch any Democrat campaigning. And of course you can ask Sarah Palin. 😉

      • PamelaHaley

        Could she say something smart?

      • RWSP2004

Smart enough to make a few bucks. 😉

  • Tina Joesten

So the Entire City of New York is “Controlled”?

    • RWSP2004

I don’t know about that, but the good folks in NYC have elected a loon for a mayor. Good luck to them. 😉

  • PamelaHaley

Look. I got in to a twitter twat with Neal Boortz on-air because he had no material. He admitted the only reason he behaves this way is for entertainment… It’s the same for Rush. It’s not their fault people interpret it as truth and repeat everything they hear. It reminds me of an old proverb, “Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.” When it comes to terrestrial radio, I don’t care what station your are listening to. Don’t believe it.

    • RWSP2004

I’ve never listened to Boortz, but Rush is one of my many sources of information. 😉

      • PamelaHaley

And by that you mean knowing how to find the source of the stupid.

      • RWSP2004

No, I am intelligent enough to read, watch, and listen to many sources of all varieties. That is why I am way more informed than you are. 😉

      • PamelaHaley

What good is all that information? What do you do with it other than feeling smug?

      • RWSP2004

First and foremost I find Rush’s program entertaining. But I use some of the information to use in debates against liberals. Most of the stories that Rush comments on can be found on the Drudge report.

      • PamelaHaley

I still find this whole idea of Conservatives and Liberals debating… as if anything either side has to say is based on reality.

  • Gabriel Gentile

And of course, the average listener will tell you “Well, he’s just saying what everyone’s thinking.”
    .
    .
    .
Think about that for a minute.

    • RWSP2004

No, I would not say that, as a 20+ year listener. 😉

      • Gabriel Gentile

So you’ve voluntarily listened for over 20 years to a radio broadcast by someone you don’t agree with.

      • RWSP2004

No, I agree with most of his points. Just not 100% of them.

      • Gabriel Gentile

So you wouldn’t say he’s verbalizing your mindset even though you agree with most of what he says.

      • RWSP2004

No, I do get information to support ideas I already think. Remember, this article has deliberately taken him out of context to distort his views. To accurately portray who and what Rush says, you have to be a regular listener to the program.

      • Gabriel Gentile

So you regard him as a source for information to support ideas you already agree with… But you wouldn’t say he says what you think.

  • Rochdalian

And I suppose that the Interstate Highway System that the fat buffoon uses wasn’t built by the government?

  • shutdafrtdoor

He is actually right for once…but not in the way he thinks. Republicans use cutting public transportation so that working poor cannot get out of the city to find better jobs in the suburbs.

    • Veritas vos Liberabit

Your point is well taken. Google “Walden Galleria”. You may find it in the Wikipedia website. Scroll down to the part where It says “Mid-late 1990s”. There was a case involving western New York public transportation in which a young African American lady was killed while crossing the street to get to her job. The late Johnnie Cochran successfully won a settlement on behalf of this young lady’s son.

    • RWSP2004

Maybe you should go to Rush’s website and find what what he really said… just saying… 😉

      • shutdafrtdoor

I think my computer might crash and burst into a burning inferno! LOL! 😉

      • PamelaHaley

After the first comment, the replies went all off topic. I think the point was, Liberals like to give people the opportunity to use public transit and, republicans don’t like when poor people can get to work so, they cut people off after they have become dependent. To think all that time they have missed out on watching Maury Povich when they could have had another job and a car to sit in traffic with….

      • shutdafrtdoor

I made my point rather well if I may say so myself. And I find that sometimes the best way to deflect an off comment is with humor!

      • RWSP2004

        agreed. 😀

      • RWSP2004

You are forgetting, that public transportation was created to save energy. Maybe you are not old enough to know that. 😉

      • PamelaHaley

Saving energy lowers the profit margins… and public transportation was created before most people could afford cars and, they didn’t have to travel 30 miles or more to get to work every day…

  • PRIME79

Ha! Well, add public transportation to the hilariously long list of absurd things that conservatives are terrified of.

  • Helivet

Put him on a (public) bus and ship him to Costa Rica or wherever he said he would go if Obama was re-elected.
