Sarah Palin, Shut Up – No, You Did Not “Predict” that Russia Would Invade Ukraine

sarah-palin-idiotHow’s that saying go, “Even a broken clock is right twice a day”?  Well, I would compare Sarah Palin to a broken clock, but I don’t want to insult the clock.

Since Palin first burst onto the scene in 2008, I pretty much always knew she was a babbling idiot.  Sure, she plays well to crowds of imbeciles who fall prey to the “soccer mom” shtick she tries to portray herself as – but the reality is, she’s just not an intelligent person.

I’m sure many of you have heard that Sarah Palin made a “prediction” back in 2008 that if Obama was elected president, considering his stance on the Russian invasion of Georgia, that it would probably tempt Russia to invade Ukraine.

Heck, she even posted about it on her Facebook:

“Yes, I could see this one from Alaska. I’m usually not one to Told-Ya-So, but I did, despite my accurate prediction being derided as “an extremely far-fetched scenario” by the “high-brow” Foreign Policy magazine. Here’s what this “stupid” “insipid woman” predicted back in 2008: “After the Russian Army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama’s reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia’s Putin to invade Ukraine next.”

Let’s not pretend like she used some intricate knowledge of foreign policies to come up with her “prediction.”  All she did was utilize a situation that at the time was a fairly large conflict, then pointed out the next logical country with which Russia might do the same thing.

The situation in Ukraine has nothing to do with Obama being President of the United States.  If that’s her stance, did Bush’s policies (and handling of foreign affairs) lead the Russian government to invade Georgia?

Because we can’t gloss over the fact that the Russian invasion of Georgia happened before Obama was elected president.  So how could what caused Russia to invade Georgia be the same thing that has now led to Russia sending troops into Ukraine, considering these events happened under two different presidents?

(Side note: I love how she had to say the nation of Georgia.  She was probably afraid that millions of conservatives might think Russia had invaded Atlanta – or that she thought the same.)

And let’s not forget that the unrest between eastern Europe and Russia has been going on for decades.  This isn’t something that just magically sprung up in the last five years.

Palin’s comments, seemingly trying to take some kind of credit for this “prediction,” only serve the purpose of showcasing how much of a fool she really is.  She cherry-picked one comment out of her thousands of absurd claims and is now trying to pass it off like she was some savant who knew exactly what would happen if Obama became president.

But the worst part is the conservative media (and conservative voters) are falling all over themselves to point out Palin’s “intelligence” by getting this “prediction” accurate.

Doesn’t this whole situation tell the story of just how ignorant this woman really is?  After 5 years, she’s now basing her argument against her detractors completely on a claim with which she essentially just got lucky.  One claim, one “prediction” out of thousands of absurd claims and predictions she made about President Obama.

Though I doubt she, and her millions of loyal followers, are intelligent enough to really understand that.

HEHEHEHE!!! All she did was embarrass herself and whole of GOP ignorance in ALLOWING her selection as spokemodel to the fools.

LOOK at her statment about “Putin rearing his ugly head from her porch”. She was predicting that the exUSSR would INVADE ALASKA.

  • Green_Devil

Funny how Caribou Quitter doesn’t mention what she would have done differently to prevent what’s happening now in the Ukraine. Would she have frightened Putin off with her tales of how she once took on Glenn Rice and the entire UMichigan men’s basketball team? We know Putin’s a homophobe, so maybe the prospect of having his every orifice filled with the maize and gold special sauce would have caused him to fear and respect the Wasilla Wacko.

    • Katiedid7

Well, you see when she took on the U of M basketball team they screwed her brains out but forgot to put them back in.

  • surfjac

You know, I don’t think highly of ms. palin at all. Clearly, mr. putin did invade the Ukraine next and nothing the President did stopped him…so gee, now ‘mama grisly’ is the ‘blind squirrel’ groping for the nuts.

    • suburbancuurmudgeon

Yeah, but she probably thinks we should have nuked Russia.

    • Katiedid7

      And there not Todd’s nuts

      • surfjac

“they’re”…they’re todd’s nutz or it might be all the nuts in the right wing.

  • Jack Lynch

15 minutes was up over two years ago…Go soccer someone and then go pickup Michele Bachman and go drive of a cliff….you will not be missed!

    • GirlWithTheShamrockTattoo

Lets not insult real soccer moms. Some of us are a little smarter than Sarah.

      • Jack Lynch

Nothing wrong with a Soccer Mom who is really a Soccer Mom…Palin said she was one but never went to any sport event for her kids! She is such a loser and should be cut off from any media!

  • republic84

I’d still like to thank Palin. She kindly insured another 4yrs of Obama and gave the GOP more time to humiliate themselves even more.

    • suburbancuurmudgeon

Huh? Obama has about three years left and can’t be thrown out.

      • republic84

No one debated a term limit. Her blabbing further soured everyone’s view on the GOP. That added to Mittencakes elitest flip flopping.

      • Neil

Pelosi and Biden are no better.

    • Katiedid

And don’t forget ,provided us with the best comedy act since All in the Family. Kinda miss the airhead but after learning the hard way, the teabaggers make sure she memorizes the answers. As if we couldn’t see thru why she called it the “lamestream media” That folks was her transparent reason why she would only appear in Fixed Noise. sxhe was given the answers to the questions they were going to ask her. She is dumber than dirt and as Martin Bashir said, “A world class idiot?

  • Robb Thompson

Let’s see. Russia invaded Georgia, and it was (then) Senators Obama’s fault but obviously not President Bush’s. But when Russia invades Ukraine, it’s now President Obama’s fault but not Senator McCain’s, even though Senator McCain and so many other Republicans loudly made it a point to prefer Putin to President Obama.

    Got it.

If I recall my history correctly, Adolph Hitler claimed that he was just “protecting the rights of German nationals” in the first few countries he “annexed”.

  • Mary J Smith

one throws sh… at a wall oftenn enough, some of it is going to stick… isn’t there an ethics hearing you’re missing, sarah?

  • Mickstertor

I wonder what invasions the US would have started by now if John McCain had won? (Syria? Iran?)

    • republic84

Russia, Palin would have lead the charge with a shotgun riding a moose from her front porch.

      • Katiedid7

Absolutely, you betcha’ by golly. Of course, let’s hope Daddy Palin was along so he could reload the gun for her as he had to do on one of her FAILED shows. What an airhead

    • Katiedid7

Let me count the invasions, Syria, Pakistan, North Korea and Russia. True to form the Teapbulicans LOVE to go to war, they don’t have a clue how to fight them and sure as hell don’t know how to end them. We have to go in with the elephant clean up shovel after they get out of office. As usual the Dems clean up the mess

  • Baron Von Keyser

She reminds me of a weatherman. They throw out some random guesses about things and get 98% of them dead wrong, but when they actually get it right, look out because you will never hear the damn end of it.

  • monsterdog

Any time someone predicts something, and is immediately denounced as “stupid” or “ignorant”, and then that something happens as predicted, and then one of that person’s detractors literally headlines an article with “shut up”…well you just know who won the argument without reading more.

If Obama had predicted a single major international event accurately during the campaign and it came true, my estimation of the man would go up 1000-fold. But for this, Palin gets slammed. You people think differently than I do.

    • Noal Downey

      What argument?

      • Pipercat

        The fallacious one…

    • Katiedid7

How come georgie couldn’t see 9/11 coming? The worst terrorist attack in us history. And yes he did have warning and yes it did happen on his watch

    • crabbyj

…yes. They use their brains. BTW, you’re forgetting about Libya, and Osama Bin Laden…President Obama, accurately predicted Col. Gaddhafi and his government would fall without having to put American ground troops in, when the GOP was demanding military action (then, once military action took place, a week later, condemned military action…resulting in hundreds of cases of GOP whiplash), and Gaddhafi fell…with OBL, the nay-sayers said it was too great a risk, that the President should hold back…so, for those keeping score at home…Obama – 2 GOP – 0. So MonsterDog…guess your estimation went up 1000x, huh?

  • Sunny Ray

We know she is stupid, with stupid supporters and stupid audience. This article is kinda useless, you’ve been writing way more interesting stuff than that about her. The point here is to make fun of her… not really constructive.
I like your work, I can’t stand that woman, but this is pointless… for me.
This woman is nothing, therefore her “predictions” are void.

  • John Moody

she must have seen them coming from her front porch

  • Wesley Foreman

thinks Miss Cleo, Dionne Warwick and the Psychic Friends have better knowledge of diplomacy than Sarah Palin. “I would call the ‘Mama Grisly’ from Wasilla dumber than a sack of hair, but that would be insulting to a sack of hair.”

  • Gary Menten

The fact is Sarah, that the Russians know the United States won’t go to war with Russia over this just as the United States knew that Russia would not go to war with the US over Iraq, Libya, Kosovo / Serbia, Panama, Grenada…..

  • idesign2

    Sarah Palin knows….

    1. there are not 57 states
    2. there’s No holiday called Cinquo de Quattro
    3. there’s no Austrian language
    4. soldiers are not called corpse-man
    5. Charleston and Savannah are not deepwater ports on the Gulf of Mexico
    6. there was no intercontinental railroad
    7. Obama is Putin’s little bitch

    • Noal Downey

Was that serious or an attempt at humor?

      • suburbancuurmudgeon

        A rather lame attempt.

      • Pipercat

        No, just troll droppings…

    • republic84

Which is why the White House just released a joint statement from the G-7 threatening to boot Moscow from the G-8 if they don’t withdrawal from Creamia… Obama may have misspoke a time or two, for every one of his she’s made 20. If you turn off Faux news for 5min and try watching something with substance you may learn something.

      Let’s list some Palin stumbles:
      Africa is a country

VP is in charge of the senate

“In god we trust” was pushed to the edge of coins because of Obama

      Afghanistan is our neighbor

Couldn’t list a single publication she’s ever read

And my all time favorite quote…”Well, let’s see. There’s ― of course in the great history of America there have been rulings that there’s never going to be absolute consensus by every American, and there are those issues, again, like Roe v. Wade, where I believe are best held on a state level and addressed there. So, you know, going through the history of America, there would be others but…………..

      Priceless

      • Katiedid7

Yep, she provided more laughs for this country than All in the Family. What a complete idiot, stupid, nasty, vicious, dingbat. Perfect for the teabaggers.

    • Adam Smith

It wasn’t a soldier, it was a sailor. And I know plenty of non military who pronouce it the same way

  • Edward Krebbs

I predict that whoever is elected president in 2016 that there will be international. Now everyone can send me money to support my candidacy ?

  • $25041298

Not a Republican but both she and Romney were, unfortunately, prescient on Russia. Why did we think we could deal with a petty tyrant like Putin?

    • paddles57

The same Putin that the cons fell all over each other praising and wishing that Obama was more like him?

      • crabbyj

Why, I believe you are correct…Funny, Putin exhibits all the behaviors for which they condemn President Obama, but there’s something different about Putin where they don’t seem to mind…gosh, what is it? I bet it’s so obvious that we’ll slap our foreheads for not picking it up right away…Mmm…what is different about Putin. Well, I’m just picking up white noise, I’ll think about it, and try again later…clear my head until it’s a clean white canvas, and in the meanwhile, maybe Obama will rise to the caucasion and resolve this latest problem.

    • crabbyj

Umm…I don’t recall any deal President Obama made for the Ukraine. If memory serves, this stems partially from their peoples’ desire to forge closer ties with the European Union. For some reason, GOP chuckleheads want to go to war to strengthen Europe’s economy…critical thinking doesn’t appear to be the right’s strong suit.

  • fairness_rules

The lady never ceases to amaze!

  • Bud

First off, with a phrase such as “indecision and moral equivalence”, are we really to believe that S. P. wrote that prediction?

  • Since Obama and Palin both had the same amount of foreign policy experience prior to 2008 (i.e. NONE), how come Obama didn’t didn’t see this coming now (six years later) that he has the entire intelligence community and DoD at his disposal?

    • crabbyj

…and how do you know he didn’t? Perhaps because he forgot to brief you in, you assume that he wasn’t aware of this possibility…even though he was aware that the largest Russian Naval base is there, and even though you’re the one that dismissed the intelligence community, when you made the assumption he wasn’t briefed. Maybe you thought he was like W, and just blew it off?

At any rate, you appear to know what the President was supposed to do, so why aren’t you sharing that with us?

  • disqus_2j3OBqnkt0

It wasn’t lucky it was utterly predictable givin that the CIA and the corporate rightwing 1% gop have been instrumental behind and supporting the protests and unrest in the Ukraine and have wanted to get their greedy disaster capitalism hands into the country.

  • disqus_2j3OBqnkt0

She saw the whole thing happen from her house.

  • ColoradoTruthTeller

OK, I’m a little hazy about this “moral equivalence” SP is talking about, is it just me or does it not make any sense as a phrase in the context given? I think she meant “moral ambivalence”, myself… Even when taking a self-aggrandizing bow, the woman shows herself as a master of word salad.

  • Edward Krebbs

Dumb Question: How many predictions has Palin made which have been nowhere near coming to happening ? As she claims Biblical roots, is she reminding people that the Bible calls for stoning the false prophet ?

    • lilbear68

it also calls for non virgins to be put to death, same goes for anyone that wears a garment made from 2 different materials
rediculo ad absurdum, how far do you want to take it

  • lilbear68

not a palin fan by any stretch but
ok she didn’t predict this I get that but when she didn’t predict this event she was shredded by the foreign policy pundits that all said that this would Not happen. and yet these ‘authorities’ are all still on the payroll?
    what are they saying now?

    • crabbyj

Please list the pundits that said it wouldn’t happen, when they said it, and post links to the statements.

      • lilbear68

sorry any references I would give you would discount and say I was cherry picking if your that interested look for your self
but to mention 1 zbignew brzinski I don’t know how to spell his name but hes one that said putin would not do this
but take advantage of this new thing called the internets you can find out all kinds of stuff you don’t want to know

  • Karen Christie

Hardly a causal relationship. I imagine Russia was more likely to invade as Justin Trudeau put it; “because they didn’t win the gold in hockey” than whether Obama was president.

  • HooahJuice

If you do not care about Palin, why comment?

    • moe/larry & curly keys

I want her sex…………………… but she better bring a 12 pack of ice cold YOO HOOs or im not going down on her

  • moe/larry & curly keys

I still want her sex,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,shes the ONLY hot GOP idiot I can see

    • lilbear68

not ann coulter? shes a hottie but alas shes not as dumb as palin

      • moe/larry & curly keys

nooooo way! I like breasts: coulter is as flat as the skanks on FOX “news”….
Look up ” Marilyn lange photos” and see whom I consider the finest looking woman ever
        yummie!

  • Ninja

Not only did Palin predict this would happen, idiot Obama said it wouldn’t happen

  • backwardregression

“essentially got lucky”? you’re going to back your claims on speculation? well that’s credible…

  • Pat Verdugo

You’re an idiot!! Sarah Palin has more insight than you’ll ever hope to experience. Imbeciles? The worst I’d ever call someone I didn’t agree with is an idiot.

Sure, she plays well to crowds of imbeciles
Sure, she plays well to crowds of imbeciles

  • grannieannie2

I sincerely doubt she could point out Ukraine on a globe. Would somebody test that for us?
