Watch Elizabeth Warren Crush the Senate Republicans Trying to Defund Planned Parenthood (Video)

warren-elizabethSen. Elizabeth Warren is, without a doubt, my favorite politician. Not only does she seem like the most genuine person in Washington, but she’s managed to bring about massive changes to the Democratic party that no other politician has really ever been able to do – and she did it almost immediately upon entering office. That’s what you call an effective leader. My only “complaint” is that she waited so long to run for office.

Well, during a recent speech on the Senate floor, the Massachusetts senator displayed once again why she’s become a superstar for Democrats when she absolutely crushed Republicans who are trying to defund Planned Parenthood.

“Do you have any idea what year it is?” Warren asked “Did you fall down, hit your head and think you woke up in the 1950s or the 1890s? Should we call for a doctor? Because I simply cannot believe, that in the year 2015, the United States Senate would be spending its time trying to defund women’s health care centers.”

“You know, on second thought, maybe I shouldn’t be that surprised.” she continued. “The Republicans have had a plan, for years, to strip away women’s rights to make choices over our own bodies.”

She then went on to list several instances over the last few years, including twice this year, where Republicans have repeatedly pushed for legislation that specifically targeted women’s rights.

“Let’s be really clear about something.” Warren stated. “The Republican scheme to defund Planned Parenthood is not some sort of surprised response to a highly edited video – nope. The Republican vote to defund Planned Parenthood is just one more piece of a deliberate, methodical orchestrated right-wing attack on women’s rights, and I’m sick and tired of it.”

Trust me, if you have the time, take 7 minutes to watch her entire speech. It was absolutely fantastic.

These Planned Parenthood “undercover” videos are a pure scam. If this group really believed what they were filming was officials from Planned Parenthood admitting that they were doing something illegal, then why didn’t they simply take these videos and turn them over to the proper law enforcement agencies to prosecute those involved? Not only that, but why is it taking so long for some of these videos to be released?

But beyond all of that, all these videos “prove” is the legal practice of selling fetal tissues for scientific research. This isn’t Planned Parenthood going out to recruit women to have abortions so they can sell these specimens for profit – though that’s clearly what Republicans are trying to portray these videos as “proving.” As Warren said, this is nothing more than Republicans in Congress seizing on highly edited videos in yet another attempt to prevent women from having control over their own bodies.

As Elizabeth Warren pointed out, this shouldn’t surprise any of us. Roe v. Wade was decided over forty years ago, yet Republicans have continued to do everything they can to deny women their Constitutionally protected right to have control over their own bodies.

I love this. Abortions are not federally financed. (Look up Helm.) The constant attack against women’s health needs to stop. “Women should just keep their legs closed,” it doesn’t cut it. Women from all walks of life use Planned Parenthood for reproductive health. Birth control (hormonal) can be used to help control women’s health issues like endometriosis. Breast cancer and uterine cancer don’t care how often you’ve said yes to sex. Even cervical cancer, which can be caught by routine PAP smears, is not a plague of the promiscuous. So sorry if women enjoying sex is alarming to some (perhaps they expect women to fake it all), but our reproductive organs are more complex than that. You’d never hear anyone claim that they wouldn’t need prostate exams if they’d just keep it in their pants.

I get so tired of the rights belief of how a woman should be. If a woman wants to be sexually liberated, that’s her choice and she shouldn’t be slut shamed. Guys put their dicks in anything and everything and they get put on a pedestal, give me break.

We NEED a MCPAA Male Chauvinist Pigs Addicts Anonymous 12-step program for women to break free of deference to … what can you call Republican politicians?

Even my mother, who fought for everything for herself, was afraid to say she was a feminist.

Why is this story buried and lost compared to, say, Trump’s self-thumping?

Women, puleeze stop accepting second class citizenship under any circumstances!

Feminism is a dirty word, or at least that’s the myth. Myth tells us that a feminist looks a certain way and above all hates men. It makes it easier then to make a woman question herself if she stands up for equal pay or health care. “What are you? One of those feminists?” If all she knows is the myths then she doesn’t want to be lumped in that group. Feminist is spoken with the same tone of disgust as one would say traitor. (Which they view a feminist as a traitor to male superiority, so big shock.)
I always heard the myths and didn’t want to identify some practically militant man-hater. But I learned the truth. I’ve since become very open about being a feminist. I’ve had people honestly ask why I hate males so much. I’m married, I have sons, I don’t hate males. I have a friend that recently went through a divorce and his wife got primary physical custody (they share custody 50/50 but for the sake of the kids’ routine they will spend a majority of their time in her care), so he was feeling pretty anti feminist. I pointed out feminism is actually about equality. If the sexes were equal then in cases where both parents are decent parents in the same general circumstances then there would be no reason for judges to generally decide that physical custody should go to the mother because she’s “the nurturer”. The reality of feminism is benigicial to all, not just women, but the myth is what we always here.

YES, thank you @cemetery_girl:disqus, we all have stories, and we must keep telling them until they are louder than the bastards.
