One of the more bizarre, and completely hypocritical, aspects to come from the Harvey Weinstein scandal has been the comments made by Donald Trump, his sons, and his supporters who, because the Hollywood executive donated money to Democrats, have seized on this story in a pathetic attempt to attack the party.
Without a doubt the allegations made against this scumbag Harry Weinstein are absolutely disgusting. I’m glad to see that Democrats have been quick to denounce his support and are working on donating any money he’s given to the party to charity.
That said, Trump and his supporters are the last people who should be saying anything about this. As a man who was caught on video bragging about committing sexual assault, who’s been accused by at least 15 women of sexual assault and/or harassment, Donald Trump and those who defend him don’t have any right to act as if they’re “sickened and appalled” by another sexual predator.
That’s why tweets like this one sent by Trump Jr. are so incredibly absurd:
Maybe Hollywood will finally end their BS lectures & go back to doing what they do best… pretending to be something they're not. Oh wait.
— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) October 11, 2017
Just to put that into context for everyone, that’s the eldest son of a man who’s bragged about sexually assaulting women, who’s been accused by at least 15 of sexual harassment and/or assault, accusing others of defending and enabling a sexual predator.
It seems comedian and actor Seth Rogen didn’t take too kindly to Trump Jr.’s ridiculous hypocrisy, posting a screen shot of a DM (direct message) he sent to him concerning that particular tweet:
— Seth Rogen (@Sethrogen) October 12, 2017
I’m sure it doesn’t surprise anyone reading this that Trump Jr. hasn’t responded to Rogen’s message.
What Rogen said is what many people like myself have been saying about the comments made by Trump’s family and his supporters since this all began. Yes, without a doubt, Harvey Weinstein is a deplorable person who should be shunned and rejected by society for his monstrous behavior towards women. That said, when are those same people going to call out Donald Trump, a man who’s bragged about sexually assaulting women and has had at least 15 women accuse him of sexual harassment and/or assault?
That question’s rhetorical, of course, because they’re never going to do that — they’re hypocrites who really couldn’t care less about men who sexually assault women. The only reason Donald Trump, his family, and his supporters are going after Harvey Weinstein is because he’s a Democrat and they know the vast majority of Republicans are just as big of hypocrites as they are.
