Southern Hate Group Cries Communism After Patriotic “SECEDE” Billboard Gets Removed

secede-billboard-league-of-the-southThe hate group known as the League of the South is extremely upset that their “patriotic” billboard displaying the word “SECEDE” was removed from the side of a highway in Montgomery, Alabama.

Ah, yes.  Another one of these groups that claims to love America so much that they want to leave it.

After the sign was recently put up, several companies threatened to stop doing business with Lamar Advertisers, which led to the company making the business decision to remove the billboard.

“Is this America, or is it Stalin’s Russia where you shut down any opposition and dissent?” Michael Hill, president of the League of the South, asked.

He pointed to a similar billboard they put up in Tallahassee, Florida.

“We had a really, really good open public debate about this issue in Tallahassee,” he said. “Nobody got their pants in a wad about it.”

Actually Mr. Hill, what prompted Lamar Advertisers to pull the billboard is what most of us would call capitalism.  You see, a company chose to side with its many advertisers (aka their revenue stream) over one hate group.

Hill clearly doesn’t understand what communism actually is.  Then again, most conservatives don’t.

And a “good open public debate” over secession?  We’ve had one of those before, though I don’t think I’d refer to it as “good.”  It was called the Civil War.  And for the record, the South lost.

I would say that these secessionists surprise me, but they don’t.  Living in Texas I often see cars driving around various cities and towns branded with bumper stickers that simply say “SECEDE” in big bold letters.

It’s always funny to me how these southern conservatives who claim to love the United States so much are the ones who are always behind these asinine movements to secede from it and form their own country.

Besides, what would a state like Alabama do without the federal government?  After all, Alabama ranks sixth on a list of states who take in more money from the federal government than they give back.  So in reality, as a state, they depend on a lot of welfare from the United States federal government.

The same federal government many people like those who support the League of the South loathe.  It’s amazing that in 2014 we still have so many people who live with the same mentality as those who lived in mid to late 1800’s.

It’s no wonder many of these people don’t believe in evolution – they haven’t evolved in over a century.
