A couple of weeks back when Donald Trump said he’d love to talk with special counselor Robert Mueller, it didn’t take very long for his lawyers and White House officials to begin walking back this “president’s” comments.
Will Trump ever interview with Mueller? I highly doubt it. Not unless by some chance he’s cornered into doing so. As we all know, Trump often likes to say things that make him appear “strong and tough” when he’s actually a coward.
Well, Stephen Colbert and John Oliver had some fun at Trump’s expense last night, hilariously mocking the possibility of him actually being interviewed by Robert Mueller.
“I don’t doubt that he wants to talk, but he’s going to have to physically get through his lawyers first,” Oliver quipped. “He’s going to have to eat his way through their hands over his mouth because they will tackle him to the floor before he opens his mouth.”
“He would perjure himself before he’d finish his name,” he added.
Then looking directly into the camera, Colbert said, “I think he should do it.”
“If I could just co-sign on that,” Oliver followed. “I know I joke around a lot, Mr. President, but I also think you’d do an excellent job and I, too, think you should do it.”
This was one of those back and forth exchanges that makes me realize just how much better the left is than the right. While conservatives have conspiracy-pushing fear-mongers like Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and Alex Jones out there peddling absurd b.s. on a daily basis, the left’s most well-known pundits and commentators are well-spoken, intelligent, articulate individuals who don’t need to spread lies and propaganda to get their point across.
While people like Stephen Colbert and John Oliver will simply encourage Donald Trump to do exactly what he said he wanted to do, frauds like Hannity will spend their time making excuses for why he won’t.
