Ted Cruz’s Father Claims Obama Wants to ‘Seize Guns’ Like Stalin, Liberals Want to ‘Do Away’ with the Bill of Rights

rafael-cruzWhenever Ted Cruz decides to run for president, his father is going to be a gold mine for anyone covering politics.  Because as much of a right-wing radical as Ted Cruz seems, his father Rafael takes it to a whole other level.

Whether it’s been him claiming that there’s no scientific evidence behind evolution, that communism and evolution go hand in hand, his son is destined by God for greatness or his desires to send “Obama back to Kenya,” Rafael Cruz has made plenty of outlandish comments.

He was recently asked by Faith and Liberty host Dave Garrison if President Obama had a plan to take our guns as part of some “worldwide views.”  He answered, “Well, of course, you have got to realize that is all about control. You look at history, Stalin took out the guns, then killed twenty million people; Mao took out the guns, then killed fifty million people. Every society where government has taken the guns away from the population, then they’ve used them against the population.”

Except of course in countries like Canada, England, Australia and several other industrialized nations where gun regulations are much more restrictive than they are here.

There’s one other question I’d like answered: President Obama has 2 1/2 years left, when exactly will this “massive confiscation of guns” begin?  Conservatives have been claiming Obama was out to get their guns since even before he was inaugurated, yet it’s never even come close to happening.  How long, exactly, can they continue to perpetuate this lie before conservatives say to themselves, “Hmm, it hasn’t happened yet, maybe we’ve been lied to?”

And if that comment wasn’t absurd enough, then Rafael Cruz claimed that if liberals had their way we’d get rid of the Bill of Rights.

After stating that he believes President Obama and Fidel Castro are “two peas in a pod” out to destroy God, Cruz then said, “As a matter of fact, I think if the left had their way, they would do away with the whole Bill of Rights.”

Ironic considering it’s Republicans who seem to loathe our First Amendment rights to freedom of (or from) religion.  It’s conservatives who’ve used religion to justify segregation and oppose civil rights throughout history and continue to do so today.  Ever since women were given the right to have control over their own bodies over 40 years ago, conservatives have been trying to deny them that Constitutionally protected right.  Heck, it’s 2014, and homosexuals are still struggling to be granted their equal rights from conservatives who continue to try to use religion to deny them what the Constitution guarantees them.

So, tell me again, which party would rewrite our Bill of Rights if they had their way?  Does Cruz really believe if it were left up to conservatives they’d leave out the words “Christian” or “Christianity” from our Constitution entirely?  Does he really think conservatives would grant freedom for all religions, or just Christianity?

In fact, history shows us that it’s liberals who are always on the right side of history when it comes to our Constitution and it’s conservatives who are always trying to deny people their equal rights.

It’s like I’ve pointed out before.  If you take the “strongly Republican” states today, then go backwards in history, they’re the same states that opposed the Civil Rights Act, desegregation, women’s suffrage and, of course, slavery.  The same states that, today, oppose same-sex marriage, the right for a woman to have control over her own body and want to legalize discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Then again, when do conservatives ever let facts or reality stand in their way?

One can only imagine the radical, fear mongering nonsense Rafael Cruz will come up with by the time 2016 rolls around.

someone put this guy out of his misery

  • chaserblue

He’s not even from this country. What is he doing here, and WHY do people keep shoving a microphone in his face and giving him an audience? This man means less than zero in the scheme of things. He should be afforded THAT much attention.

    • real_world_truth

You know, that comment about him sounds a lot like the far right spouting off about ‘illegal’ immigrants not being from this country. The man did indeed legally enter the United States and came here to attempt to make a better life for himself and his family. I’m not saying he is right in what he has to say and quite frankly I too wish he would disappear from the radar of the media, but let us not allow our dislike of his twisted views to drag us down into the same sort of language used by those who so fear anyone who is different.

      • chaserblue

Oh, please. He’s not from this country, yet he feels he should come in here with his family and undermine the Constitution of the United States and completely lie and disrespect the office of the president. It would be like you going to England and then tearing at the government any and every chance you got. You think you should do that? You think it’s perfectly respectable to go and crap all over your host and complain about them? Especially after he “fled” Cuba after fighting WITH Castro. He’s already shown really bad judgement. Now he’s been given a platform to tear apart the government that sheltered him and gives him the freedom to run his stupid mouth? That’s OK, but I’m the one in the wrong for saying we shouldn’t be paying any attention to this idiot? You need to have your meds checked…

      • real_world_truth

I thought perhaps you were someone who could discuss things rationally. Sorry, my mistake, ramble on, I’m out.

      • chaserblue

Really? Because, I never said he should be run out of here. I never said he no right to be here. I simply STATED that we should not be giving him a platform and an audience. Now I’m irrational—you’re the one that took the flying leap into me sounding like the rabid right. Then you want rational discussion? Yeah…you’re fairly delusional if you think you can make assumptions about my intent, insult me and then I’m going to talk to you like you’re my BFF. Pffft.. whatever. Go ahead—have the last word. You deserve it.

      • Charles Vincent

        Here are the irrational parts of your posts in context and verbatim;

“Oh, please. He’s not from this country, yet he feels he should come in

He’s already shown really bad judgement. Now he’s been given a platform

for saying we shouldn’t be paying any attention to this idiot? You need

        and

“Really? Because, I never said he should be run out of here. I never said

hey lardass,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,what is thy opinion of CRUZ and his policies/ views/ accomplishments,,,,,,,,,?
then we can tear up his bloviating scumbag “bugaron” father

      • Charles Vincent

        Irrelevant and a nontroversy.

  • Jerry Graybosch

If Obama was tainted by Rev. Wright, Cruz needs to throw his father under the bus.

    • LateNightLarry

Cruz needs to throw his father under several buses and a long train. And then Tailgunner Ted should follow his father…

Cuban-born, Cuban-American lobbyist, one of the bigger reasons why America is not closer to its neighbours, benefits from the attempted economic suppression of Cuba and from keeping America from opening up new markets to enrich its culture and economy.

“It’s conservatives who’ve used religion to justify segregation and oppose civil rights throughout history and continue to do so today.”

    Apparently, you failed history.

    • Chris Muir

Do you have evidence to the contrary? Oh, I imagine you might dig up that old “Dems founded the KKK” argument, ignoring the fact that it was founded by Southern Conservatives who joined the Democrats only because Abe Lincoln was a Republican. What happened to those “racist Dems”? After Liberal Democrats passed the Civil Rights act and the Voting Rights act, all the Conservative Southern Democrats bolted to the Republican party, where they remain. There certainly wasn’t any “racist dems” voting for Obama…

    • real_world_truth

Evidently you didn’t pay close enough attention. Republicans were once the Progressive party and Democrats were the conservatives. The statement stands. Conservatives are indeed and always have been those who opposed change, no matter what party nae they use. Once upon a time, the Southern Democrats were known as ‘Dixiecrats’, and were vehemently opposed to ending Jim Crow and segregation. Thankfully, the party became more and more progressive as those who were conservative fled to the banner of the Republican party.

not (failing) from the past 30 yrs or so

  • Steve Temke

It takes a critical thinker, a person with the ability to reason and think about abstract ideas to be a liberal. It doesn’t take much at all to continue to believe what one is told to believe like conservatives. Senor Cruz is all about telling one what to believe.

    • MEC

      VERY well said, sir.

    • Charles Vincent

“It takes a critical thinker, a person with the ability to reason and think about abstract ideas to be a liberal.”

Nice you only want to look at half the equation, that clears up why Liberal policies and crack pot Ideas fail more often than not.

      • Bill Brown

        Ha ha ha ha!

I remember Charles Vincent from that piece about Republican lies about Canadian healthcare. He made an ass of himself by attacking the author with a gotcha moment about Obamacare, when the article clearly stated it was talking about an incident in Canada.

He THEN tried to say the article didn’t make it clear, only to have a dozen commenters directly quote to him several instances where the piece said so.

Oh but there was Charles, saying it wasn’t clear.

Now you’re here talking about how your opponents are only looking at half the equation? It is to laugh.

You obfuscate everything you speak to, Vincent. You have zero credibility here.

Pleas keep illustrating exactly the willing ignorance this site looks to expose.

      • Charles Vincent

        Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahah you’re an idiot

That article was ambiguous except the very end where he mentioned Canada the author cleared it up when I posted. Get over yourself.

Already have doing so again is fruitless.

    • strayaway

Steve, That’s very funny! School teachers often talk like that and imagine they are mostly ‘critical thinkers” although some actually are. That’s why education schools are such bastions of profundities and discourse. Congratulations anyway. Back to the discussion-

” If you take the “strongly Republican” states today, then go backwards in history, they’re the same states that opposed the Civil Rights Act, desegregation, women’s suffrage and, of course, slavery.”

This is probably a reference to deep south states when they were Democrat rather than most of the plains or near west states which also vote Republican but have no history of opposing “the Civil Rights Act, desegregation, women’s suffrage and, of course, slavery.”

If Ted Cruz is to be tarred by linking him to his father , consider that Obama’s father was a socialist polygamist who abandoned his child. Bush referred to the Constitution as ” g-d- piece of paper.” Beyond his occasional lip service to the Bill of Rights, Obama has mostly expanded Bush’s attacks on the Bill of Rights.

  • John Hickman

Have any of you ever used praying mantises to get rid of garden pests? You can order them on line. What arrives is a box of maybe a dozen mantises and you just let them go into you garden. They are voracious little critters and they will continue to attack and eat until all of your pests are gone, and when the pests are gone, they start on each other until at long last there is only one really BA…D mantis left in your garden – all by herself.

With the rhetoric over gun rights without a concern for gun responsibility that we get bombarded with every day, apparently the garden scenario I started out this post with is the kind of world radically pro gun individuals ( i.e., ammosexuals…) want to live in. But I certainly don’t, and I would safely say that most of you do not either.

  • Bob Chapman

You mean like the Boston Police Commissioner
that believes nobody needs a rifle or shotgun in the city and it shod be up to him and the mayor if you can? He doesn’t want our guns either?

  • Chris Muir

What actual historical evidence do they have of Stalin or Mao doing mass gun confiscations? None, really, it’s basically a part of far-right mythology. Dictators rely on a large number of zealous supporters, instead of “gun confiscation”. BTW, the nation with the most restrictive gun control laws is Japan, not even remotely a “commie dictatorship”.

    • Charles Vincent

      Mao
“Inspecting for and Banning of Privately Owned Firearms, and
Prohibiting the Unauthorized Wearing of Military Uniforms” (Council of
      People’s Commissars April, 1933) Mao’s Road to Power –
Revolutionary Writings 1912-1949 Volume IV Rise and Fall of the Chinese Soviet 1931-1934, p377″

      Stalin
“Similarly, as J.E. Simkin and Aaron Zelman document in their book “Gun
Control”: Gateway to Tyranny, in October 1918, the Council of People’s
Commissars (the Communist government) ordered citizens to surrender all
firearms, ammunition, and sabres, having first mandated registration of
all weapons six months earlier. Just like the Nazis, Communist Party
members were exempt from the ban.

A 1920 decree then imposed a minimum six month prison sentence for
any non-Communist possessing a weapon. After the civil war, possession
became punishable with three months hard labor plus fines. After Stalin
came to power, he made possession of unlawful firearms a crime
      punishable by death.

Stalin disarmed his domestic enemies before launching a genocide against them.

With Russians almost universally disarmed, Stalin was given free
reign to carry out one of history’s most brutal prolonged genocide, with
tens of millions of people executed or starved to death in the three
decades that followed, a model subsequently mimicked in China and
      Cambodia.

      Hitler

“In reality, the Nazis did take existing gun control laws and make them
more draconian in order to target their political adversaries. That is a
      manifestly provable historical fact.

Hitler disarmed his domestic enemies before launching a genocide against them.

The Nazi Weapons Law of November 11, 1938 prohibited Jews from
“acquiring, possessing, and carrying firearms and ammunition, as well as
truncheons or stabbing weapons,” and ordered them to turn in all guns
and ammunition to local police. As historian William Sheridan Allen
noted, the Nazis also began house to house gun confiscations targeting
“subversives” shortly after they came to power.

In addition, historians like Israel Guttman have outlined how the
Warsaw Ghetto uprising against the Nazis was hampered by the fact that
imprisoned Jews did not have access to adequate arsenals of firearms,
although their resistance did lead Goebbels to note in his diary: “This
just shows what you can expect from Jews if they lay hands on weapons.””

This is the Rafael Cruz who prophesied that Ted Cruz was God’s annointed ? According to the Bible, you are supposed to stone the false prophet – wonder what he thinks of that.

BTW – The Cuban Americans were largely upper class professionals and look down on the Mexican-Americans. So why should the Mexican Americans give Cruz any support at all ?
