“I would rarely leave the White House because there’s so much work to be done. I would not be a president who took vacations. I would not be a president that takes time off,” is what Donald Trump said during an interview in 2015.
“If I win I may never see my property — I may never see these places again. But because I’m going to be working for you, I’m not going to have time to go golfing, believe me. Believe me. Believe me, folks,” is what Donald Trump insisted during a campaign event in August 2016.
November 25, 2017 marked the 81st day Trump has visited one of his golf courses since being sworn into office less than a year ago.
As of writing this, Trump’s been in office 310 days.
That means Trump’s spent 26 percent of the time he’s been in office at one of his golf courses. If he keeps this pace up, Trump will have visited one of his courses 95 times by the time he reaches his one year mark in office. If he were to keep up that annual pace, that equates to 380 visits to his various golf resorts over four years.
For those of you who might not have caught on to where I’m going with this, that means if Trump serves all four years, he will spend over a year of his time as “president” golfing.
The ironic (and hypocritical) aspect to all of this is the fact that, not only did Trump repeatedly claim that he wouldn’t have time to golf during his campaign, but he frequently attacked Barack Obama for playing.
So, exactly how much golf did Obama play during his eight years in office?
333 rounds — only 26 by this same point in his presidency.
To put that another way, that means Trump’s on pace to golf more in just four years than Obama did during eight years as president.
Again, this from a man who not only said he wouldn’t have time to play, but attacked Obama when he played — even though he’s on pace to more than double the amount of time he spends at the golf course compared to Obama.
I know I’ve said this a lot, but you really can’t make this stuff up.
Unfortunately, none of this matters to Trump supporters. Since they don’t hold him accountable for anything, nothing he says or does, no matter how dishonest, hypocritical, or outright ridiculous makes any difference to them. Nearly two years ago when Trump called his supporters mindless sheep who’d support him no matter what he did — as much as it pains me to say this — he was absolutely right about the vast majority of them.
That’s exactly why I’ve said since his supporters don’t hold him accountable for anything, all they’re doing is cementing his place as probably the worst “president” in this country’s history.
