At some point, the media has to start being brutally honest even when doing so might upset millions of people.
That’s why I’m begging some members of the mainstream media to stop asking, “Is Donald Trump a racist?”
He is — end of story.
Someone saying or doing something that some might feel is racist is one thing. I’m sure practically everyone reading this has probably said or done something that, even without realizing it, could have been perceived by others as being racist, bigoted, or prejudiced.
That said, when there’s a well-established pattern of racist, bigoted, or prejudiced comments against other races, minority groups, or immigrants, then that person is a racist.
Imagine for a moment you met some random person who you were told refused to denounce the support of a known white supremacist, called some neo-Nazis “very fine people,” shared anti-African American propaganda on social media, pushed blatantly racist conspiracies against our nation’s first African American president, had a company settle a lawsuit over racial discrimination, and referred to non-white countries as “sh*thole countries” — would you think that person was the “least racist” person ever? Or would you think they’re a flat-out racist?
Well, Trump’s done all of that — and more.
If Trump’s not a racist, then who the hell is? How many times must he say or do something that’s blatantly racist, bigoted, or prejudiced before those who claim he’s not racist will admit that he is?
While I understand that throwing around the term “racist” is a tricky thing for the mainstream media, I don’t feel that it should be in this instance. Similar to how I feel it’s appropriate to call Trump a pathological liar based on the fact that he lies multiple times a day — every single day — there’s more than enough indisputable evidence out there to prove that Trump is, indeed, a racist.
I can guarantee everyone reading this that his recent “sh*thole” comment won’t be the last time we’re having the debate over whether this “president” is a racist. Whether it’s a few days, weeks, or even a couple of months from now, Donald Trump’s going to say or do something that ignites this “debate” once again because — wait for it — Donald Trump is a racist.
For anybody who needs more evidence, Samantha Bee had an excellent (and somewhat humorous) segment on her show Wednesday night, which I highly recommend checking out below via TBS:
