The Republican Party — Subjugating the 99% to the Will of the 1%

boehnerjohnIt should come as no surprise that in America the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. I could cite hundreds of studies that prove this, but I find it unnecessary as anyone with a half a brain and a PC can figure it out on their own. Nonetheless, the distribution of wealth in America is abysmal. The US ranks 27th in median wealth, and even falls behind Kuwait, which ranks 26th.

By way of example. Last week, Republican Senators filibustered the bill which would have prevented student loan rates from going up. Now, just in case you weren’t aware, even before the new rate hike, the rates were already at an exorbitant 6% and 8.5%. The downfall of America will come from failing to properly educate the youth (all of the youth, not just the 1%). Come to think of it, this is exactly what they want; only the children of 1 percenters to go to college so that everyone else is subjugated to their will. The reason? It’s simple — they want to dissolve the middle class and subjugate the 99% to their will.

Classy, right?

Moreover,  if anyone is still in doubt about why this is happening, they need to get their head out of the sand. The goal of the Republican party is to make higher education so expensive that only the rich will be able to afford it, hence helping to create what they really want — a second class system of rich and poor. I mean, last week, the DOW finished at a record high again, but none of that money has trickled down to the middle class. And although the DOW in and of itself is not a good barometer of economic health, it nonetheless proves that although President Obama is not a socialist (socialism would mean the end of the stock market in favor of an almost fully government run economic system) the current system is much closer to corporate fascism than anything else. Trickle down economics isn’t working — if it was, then some of those record corporate profits would be going into the tax coffers to fund education, infrastructure, etc. and into workers’ pockets. Instead, the only place those profits are trickling is into Cayman Islands bank accounts.

In closing, I believe that the number one goal of the Republican party is to create a slave class of workers that are stuck in the lowest income brackets, with no room for any social mobility. To sum up, as George Carlin once stated so eloquently:

“The real owners are the big wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions. Forget the politicians, they’re an irrelevancy. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don’t. You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They’ve long since bought and paid for the Senate, the Congress, the statehouses, the city halls. They’ve got the judges in their back pockets. And they own all the big media companies, so that they control just about all of the news and information you hear. They’ve got you by the balls. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying lobbying to get what they want. Well, we know what they want; they want more for themselves and less for everybody else…

But I’ll tell you what they don’t want.  They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well-informed, well-educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that. That doesn’t help them. That’s against their interests. They don’t want people who are smart enough to sit around the kitchen table and figure out how badly they’re getting fucked by a system that threw them overboard 30 fucking years ago…

You know what they want? Obedient workers people who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork but just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, reduced benefits, the end of overtime and the vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it. And, now, they’re coming for your Social Security. They want your fucking retirement money. They want it back, so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street. And you know something? They’ll get it. They’ll get it all, sooner or later, because they own this fucking place. It’s a big club, and you ain’t in it. You and I are not in the big club.”

And he is right. You and I, we aren’t in the club and we will never be. However, despite all this, we still live in a country where even among the exorbitant spending of PAC’s an lobbyist groups, we still operate (in theory) on the concept of one person, one vote. And guess what? 2014 is coming… we just need to light a fire under our asses, get out there and vote.
