It’s Time Americans Demand That Republicans are Investigated

benghazi-benghazi-benghaziI think we’ve reached a point where enough is enough. For over three years now we’ve allowed Republicans to exploit the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi, Libya for political gains. The GOP has faked more outrage over this attack than they ever showed over the 4,400+ Americans who were sent to die in Iraq based on lies and misleading intelligence presented by the Bush administration.

It really is astonishing to think some Republicans have suggested that Hillary Clinton should be put in jail concerning that Benghazi attack – yet those same individuals seem to have no problem with Bush admitting that his administration committed war crimes that occurred in a war where they knowingly misled Congress and the American people.

But what we’ve seen over the last few weeks are admissions by two Republicans and an ex-investigator who’ve admitted that these GOP-led hearings on Benghazi have been nothing more than a partisan attack on Clinton to hurt her chances of becoming president.

Think about this; many Republicans have supported a federal investigation into Planned Parenthood over highly-edited videos from a radical anti-abortion group (videos that have been discredited, by the way), with some saying we should shutdown the government to block funding for the women’s health organization. This rhetoric from the GOP isn’t based on videos from a non-partisan group investigating the ethics of Planned Parenthood, but from a radical anti-abortion organization that heavily edited the “evidence.”

Now, could you imagine what Republicans would be saying if Democrats were being accused of wasting three years and millions of taxpayer dollars on investigations meant to do nothing more than attack one of their presidential candidates?

They would be absolutely losing their minds.

And just for the record, we’ve already had seven investigations into Benghazi (not including the current one) – five that have been led by Republicans – which have all concluded that, while more could have probably been done to defend against or prevent an attack, there was some level of fault on all sides – including embassy officials.

Heck, the current House Select Committee on Benghazi is actually just a follow-up to the last Republican-led investigation that concluded around Thanksgiving last year which found no wrongdoing linked to Clinton. Nearly as soon as that investigation was completed, John Boehner announced that another committee would be put together at the start of this year to do the same damn thing they had just done.

It’s completely ridiculous.

So, my question is, when do we start investigating them? Don’t the American people have the right to know whether or not millions of their tax dollars have been wasted on what was ultimately nothing more than a partisan attack exploiting the deaths of four Americans, just so Republicans could try to hurt Clinton’s chances at becoming president?

And if it were up to me, Democrats wouldn’t even be involved. I would love to see a non-partisan group investigate whether or not Republicans have unethically exploited this attack and if investigators corrupted the process for political gains. That way, when it was all said and done, no one could complain that any results from that non-partisan investigation were politically motivated. (They would still complain endlessly, but they wouldn’t have a leg to stand on.)

But with Kevin McCarthy’s comment, an ex-investigator accusing Republicans of unethical behavior and a New York member of the House of Representatives admitting the investigation was largely based around a political attack on Clinton, enough is enough. It’s time the American people demand that we investigate Republicans for misuse of the House of Representatives to further a political witch hunt while wasting time and our money in the process.

      Are money?

Alas — I am reasonably confident that, within the Capitol, the Congress is both sovereign and immune, I.e., they are a law unto themselves within their own bailiwick, so what they say, goes. They may Deserve an investigation; but they probably would not get one unless they agreed to it themselves. (Fat Chance.) Sorry! 🙁

It wasn’t only Bush who sent 4,400 Americans to their deaths in Iraq. It was every member of Congress including Hillary and Kerry who unconstitutionally gave away their congressional power to Bush to decide to wage war on Iraq. It was also every member of Congress of both parties who voted to keep funding and extending that war. it was also President Obama who extended that war as long as he legally could and has recently sent 3,000 troops back into Iraq.

Benghazi was just a by-product of the unjustifiable unconstitutional Obama/Hillary’s executive ordered war helping remove Khaddafi from power. Libya was left a basket case, like Somalia, unable to govern itself. Benghazi, Mali, the refugee wave, the Islamist training camps, etc. are just by-products of this policy. If anything, some Republicans should instead be castigated for their silence in condoning the Obama/Hilary policy leading to all these problems. Just as many Democrats went along with Bush’s war in Iraq, many Republicans went along with Obama’s overthrow of Khaddafi.
