From my perspective as someone who’s opposed him since the very beginning, I’m not seeing any difference between Donald Trump now and before the election. He’s the same unhinged, egotistical, pathological-lying narcissist who can’t control himself on social media that he’s always been.
So when I heard about comments made by Trump voter Scott McCommons, who called his first 100 days in office a “disaster” for Trump being exactly who he’s always been, it makes me want to stand up and shout, this is why I keep calling you people stupid!
“He’s got enough time to get on Twitter, and rant and rave, and on top of that lie on Twitter,” McCommons said. “I voted for the man to make America great again, and I’m willing to give him a chance, but he’s not doing what I thought.”
You mean he has time to do exactly what he did during the election? Spend a bunch of time on social media, ranting and raving against people, constantly lying to his millions of followers?
But it gets even more ridiculous. He cited his handling of health care as one of the main reasons why he’s been disappointed in him.
“I expected him to work a little harder [on health care],” McCommons stated. “Be a little more reasonable instead of threatening people. That’s unpresidential. I voted to send him to Washington strictly because I thought he would make change, nobody would push him around. He’s used his power against people, I think that’s wrong. It’s been a disaster, I think, in the first 100 days.”
Once again, who was he watching and following during the 2016 election? He’s surprised that he’s not acting presidential, is being pushed around, has made threats, and has used his power against people?
That’s who Donald Trump is!
This is someone whose “presidential moments” have all been brief periods where he read a speech written by someone else. Meanwhile, nearly every major gaffe, controversy, or embarrassing statement/tweet has occurred when Trump was all on his own, using his words.
Donald Trump is nothing but a thin-skinned man-child who’s possibly the most insecure person I’ve ever seen. It seems clear that McCommons confused arrogance and bullying with “tough, strong leadership.” This is a man who never takes the blame for any failure and has built a culture around himself where he’s surrounded by “yes men” who tell him whatever he wants to hear. Nothing about his life, or campaign, has shown Trump to be a reasonable, confident leader who had the ability to solve complex problems. Trump’s career is filled with many failures, lawsuits, and a long list of very unethical behavior.
Look, if a Trump supporter finally wants to “see the light,” so to speak, and reject the orange menace then, by all means, welcome aboard. I’m someone who’s a firm believer in working with one another instead of against each other. I value constructive and effective dialogue, and unlike far too many people, I don’t view the word “compromise” as a dirty word.
That being said, these folks need to at least admit they were wrong and realize the underlying problem of how they were duped. Otherwise, it’s just going to happen again.
I’m not trying to sound arrogant, but Trump supporters (both current and former) are just as much of a problem as he is. This isn’t just about someone finally seeing how awful Donald Trump is, it’s about them understanding that Trump’s nothing more than what happens when the Republican Party spends decades pushing lies, hate, fear, bigotry, racism, and pandering to the worst parts of our society. It’s great they finally see what a disaster Trump is, but if they don’t understand that he only got where he is today because of the dishonest tactics of the GOP. they’re going to get fooled over and over again.
As I’ve said before, Donald Trump’s just one person who didn’t get where he is without over 60 million people voting for him. If those people weren’t gullible enough to buy the outrageous lies he was selling, then he never gets anywhere near the White House. Without a doubt he’s a huge problem, but so are the types of people in this country who supported a vile, self-admitted sexual predator who ran a campaign built on lies, hate, racism, bigotry, and fear.
