Nobody can say with absolute certainty what the future will hold, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make some fairly credible predictions. Such as my belief that history is going look back on the 2016 election with embarrassment and shame that tens of millions of Americans were foolish enough to think Donald Trump should be president.
Why do I believe that? Well, for a multitude of reasons.
However, for the sake of time, I go back to a simple point I made a few weeks ago:
For a moment forget everything else (though it all still matters), and just focus on that reality. A reality that tells us a candidate for president was supported by some of the most disgusting, vile and horrible human beings on the planet. People who murder rivals, slaughter women and children, are proud and open racists, honor the horrific beliefs of Adolf Hitler — those are the people who all wanted to see Trump win.
Whether his supporters will admit it or not, that means something.
It’s not a coincidence that a Russian tyrant, a Syrian dictator, one of the most infamous hate groups on the planet, a renowned white nationalist and disgusting creatures who view Hitler as a role model were all on the same side of supporting a particular presidential candidate — Donald Trump.
Because no matter how Trump, his supporters and the Republican Party might try to spin it, the undeniable truth is that he’s backed, praised and/or supported by:
- The KKK.
- Former Grand Wizard of the KKK, David Duke.
- A Russian tyrant who’s had political rivals and journalists killed in Vladimir Putin.
- A Syrian dictator who used chemical weapons on women and children.
- White nationalists.
And at no time in all of human history have those types of people been on the right side of history.
Yet those are the people who are on the same side as all of those who voted for or support Trump. Which means when his supporters tell me that he’s going to be a great president, what they’re saying is that — for the first time ever — some of the most deplorable types of scumbags to have ever walked this Earth are on the right side of human history.
That won’t happen — because it never happens.
January 20, 2017 was both a very sad, depressing day for me — but also a very proud one. I’m absolutely disgusted that we now have a “president” like Donald Trump, but seeing this vile human being for who he really is, I’ve never been more proud to be one of the 54 percent of Americans (as well as the countless millions around the world) who stand against him — who rejected him.
I’m not going to sit here and say these next few years are going to be easy. But at least when history looks back upon this time, everyone who stood against someone who’s basically our nation’s first dictator will be seen as the true patriots who pushed back against one of the biggest national security threats the United States has ever faced.
And I can promise all of you that I’ll be here fighting against this traitor every single day until he’s out of office.
