As with nearly everything related to the Trumps, nothing anyone in that family does is ever their fault. To listen to Donald Trump, the system is rigged against them and everyone is always out to get him and his family.
So it should come as no surprise that one of Trump’s lawyers, Jay Sekulow, tried to essentially blame the Secret Service for the now infamous June 9th meeting Trump Jr. had last year with a Russian lawyer tied to the Kremlin promising him dirt on the Clintons directly from Russia’s government.
“I’ve wondered why the Secret Service, if this was nefarious, why’d the Secret Service allow these people in?,” Sekulow asked during an interview with ABC News.
Nothing says “class” quite like a member of the “president’s” legal team trying to blame the Secret Service for allowing a possibly illegal meeting setup by Donald Trump’s eldest son and attended by Trump’s son-in-law and campaign manager.
There’s just one slight problem for Trump: The Secret Service wasn’t guarding his son at the time this meeting took place.
The Secret Service released the following statement following Mr. Sekulow’s claim:
Donald Trump, Jr. was not a protectee of the USSS in June, 2016. Thus we would not have screened anyone he was meeting with at that time.
Well, I guess they’ll have to come up with another excuse.
This is another example of how little respect Trump and people around him have for this country or the people tasked with our national security. It’s bad enough we currently have a “president” who frequently attacks and undermines the credibility of intelligence agencies such as the CIA, NSA, and FBI, now they’re trying to throw the Secret Service under the bus.
Donald Trump, his family, and the people he surrounds himself with have no ethics, standards, class, or morals. They will say and do anything to save their own backsides. Why anybody would trust anyone with the last name “Trump” is mind-boggling.
For a while now I’ve felt like we were inching closer and closer toward a story that was going to blow this Trump/Russia scandal wide open. There are far too many instances of secret meetings being exposed, and Trump associates “forgetting” their meetings and communications with Russian officials, for this all to be a string of “unfortunate, innocent coincidences.” Especially when you factor in the fact that Donald Trump’s behavior has been a textbook example of a guilty person who’s terrified of people finding out the truth and is desperately trying to prevent that from happening.
Well, this meeting could very well be that story. It’s not just the fact that this meeting took place that’s the issue here, it’s been the way Trump, his son, and his administration have responded to that event becoming public knowledge. Based on the way they’ve responded to that story, in my opinion, it seems fairly obvious that there’s a whole lot more we don’t know about what took place June 9th of last year — and they’re doing everything they can to make sure the American people never find out.
